(Mia is your final party member in the first game. She is part of the Mercury Clan that protects Mercury Lighthouse, a structure of significance located near her hometown of Imil. However, Alex, her cousin, breaks the code of the Mercury Clan, and brings intruders into the lighthouse. Isaacs party assists Mia in clearing obstacles, and she joins your team as thanks. Interestingly, you have the option to clear Kolima Forest and Tret Tree (including battling Tret) either before or after obtaining Mia.

She is also playable in The Lost Age, after the reunion. Aside from Alex being even more notable a character than he was in the previous game, Mia doesnt have much importance in the games plot.

Like many other characters from the GBA duology, not much is known about present day Mia in Dark Dawn. What is known is that she has a daughter, Nowell, and a son, Rief, with the latter being playable.

Fun Fact: When Golden Sun was first revealed to the public at Space World 2000 in August 2000, Mia had a different role. She appeared to live in Vale alongside Isaac and Garet, and Jenna and Felix were nowhere to be seen. Of course, this didnt stick for the final game.

(Karis is one of the playable characters in Dark Dawn, and the daughter of Ivan. She seems to be fairly close friends with Matthew, although not to the extent that he is with Tyrell, as Karis doesnt live at the Lookout Cabin.

Karis is your first party member obtained, with her joining Matthew to save Tyrell at Tanglewood.

Karis has a strong moral ground. However, she can get in over her head at times and forget that Matthew is the one in charge, not her. She also argues a lot with Tyrell, whose stubborn and impulsive personality clashes with her more thoughtful nature. Overall though, shes a kind-hearted person.

Unlike her father, Karis cannot read minds.

With this, Sveta is both the last Dark Dawn character and last Wind Adept.)

(Ivan is the third party member in the first game. You meet him in Vault, which is usually the first town you visit after leaving Vale. His unusual ability to read minds is brought up as a point of importance in his introduction.

Ivan was adopted by Hammet, who is the founder of Kalay, and his wife Layana. Unlike Sheba, Ivans past eventually has some light shined on it after the reunion in The Lost Age. He has a sister, Hama.

While not seen in Dark Dawn, Ivan is mentioned a few times. He is the father of Karis, although its unknown who he married. He also invented the soarwing. Tyrell breaking said soarwing starts the plot of Dark Dawn.

With this elimination, a third of the cast remains. Funnily enough, this means that both Wind Adepts from Dark Dawn have outlasted those from the GBA games.)

(Menardi is one of the main villains of the first game, alongside her partner Saturos. The Lost Age introduced her sister, Karst. I already described most everything I could about the Proxians in Agatios, Karsts, and Saturos entries, so there isnt much left for me to talk about.

There are no antagonists remaining unless you count Alex. This also leaves Jenna as the final Fire Adept still in. This is despite Fire being the element that had the most characters when we started, having a whopping eight. For comparison, there are still two Earth Adepts, and three Wind and Water Adepts left each.)

(Saturos is one of the main villains of the first game alongside his partner Menardi. They wish to light all the elemental lighthouses and bring Alchemy back to Weyard, which would destroy it. Stopping this plan and rescuing Jenna and Kraden from Saturos party are the goals of Isaacs crew. In actuality, the absence of Alchemy is slowly eroding Weyard, and the supposed bad guys were trying to return Alchemy to save their hometown of Prox, located on the edge of Weyard. Nonetheless, this isnt found out until late into The Lost Age, and Isaacs party defeat Saturos and Menardi at the climax of the first game, where they plummet from the peak of Venus Lighthouse to their deaths.

Saturos and Menardi make cameos in Dark Dawn, being cardboard cutouts you must hit with Tyrells fireballs at the Psynergy Training Grounds. Ouch.

(Matthew is the main protagonist you control throughout the entirety of Dark Dawn. He is the son of Isaac and Jenna, but you wouldnt be able to figure out the latter so easily, as he very much resembles his father and is an Earth Adept rather than a Fire Adept. Matthew lives at the Lookout Cabin on Goma Plateau with his father Isaac, his best friend Tyrell, and Tyrells father Garet. Matthew and Tyrells friendship parallels that of their fathers.

Like the previous protagonists, Matthew doesnt talk when controlled by the player. Unlike Isaac and Felix, Matthew doesnt appear in a game where someone else takes the protagonist position, so he doesnt get an opportunity to speak. Therefore, he doesnt have much personality, although there are hints at some outbursts of anger. In addition, Jennas encyclopedia entry states that Matthew inherited his mothers spirit.

With this, Karis and Sveta are the only Dark Dawn characters remaining, both of whom are Wind Adepts.)
