Hell the borders that were drawn in Eastern Europe were garbage as well, that's how you got countries like Yugoslavia with upwards of 7 ethnic groups who didn't like each other in it. Or Czechloslovakia, where Czechs and Slovaks (who hated each other) crammed in with Germans. It's always a bad idea to have weirdo power brokers with something to gain from discord draw your borders.

Regardless of what the Nakba was in response to ethnic cleansing isn't a justifiable course to take. Also in what reality should the Arab Palestinians have accepted European involvement in partitioning their land? Would you have if you were them? Especially when the last time they did it you got ridiculous shit like Syria and Iraq, and Kurds ending up without a state and being minorities in 5 different countries.

That being said the Arab League's solution of "well if we invade and just wipe them all out or displace them then Europeans can't create a state for them here" is also absolutely an attempt at genocide as well.

Well meaning European involvement (at best) is the chief cause of the problem if you want to go back all the way to the root of the modern problems there.

It's like I said originally, there is no acceptable solution to both parties that will lead to a just and lasting peace because both groups have long standing and legitimate grievances. Obviously Hamas needs to be removed and elections held because they absolutely do not represent the interests of Palestinians, if they did they wouldn't have immediately suspended future elections the moment they gained power.

I continue to be convinced that people that say Israel wants to "genocide" palestine, in context of this discussion (where Hamas literally wants to exterminate all the Jews) are just trying to troll or be edgelords. Like one group literally tells citizens where they are going to be bombing to try to minimize civilian casualties. That alone says a LOT. Please imagine for a moment what would happen if Hamas had the same military power that Israel did. And as bad as you think Israel is to Palestine, if things were reversed they would be far worse. People are defending people that are absolutely awful and would lead a country FAR worse than israel if given the chance.

Its true that Israel keeps a tight lock on Gaza and has treated them poorly but for people that talk about the open-air prison could that be because people from there are always trying to kill and terrorist attack the Israelis? And after the Holocaust where people LEGITIMATELY tried to genocide the Jews, they are most likely defensive of the one Jewish country that exists (which apparently people think should not exist)

This is correct. There was then the Nakba, where the Zionist militias intentionally killed 15k people and forcibly relocated thousands upon thousands of Palestinians for the purpose of creating the Jewish majority. It was absolutely an act of ethnic cleansing.

Even if you hate Hamas it's crazy to pretend you don't understand what their agenda is. Both Israel and Palestine have been shouting their goals loudly to anyone who will listen.

The thing is, what they want isn't achievable. Not through the scale of force they have available. Insurgency/counter insurgency conflicts are a never ending cycle of escalating war crimes that usually end when the occupier goes home because the cost is too high. Monetarily or politically. It's why the US eventually left Vietnam and why Russia left Afghanistan.

That can't happen here, since the what Israel is occupying they legitimately view as theirs plus they aren't seperated by an ocean in the way the US and Vietnam were. They are more than willing to end the Palestinians as a people rather than leave. Bombing schools, hospital, infrastructure, and shutting off water proves that. Hell it's very possible that Gaza will simply cease to be a thing after this.

I'm not saying the Palestinians aren't correct in attempting to fight, they live in what is essentially an open air prison and are subject to violent assault by the IDF and pogroms by settlers on a fairly regular basis. The Nakba never ended honestly, it just slowed down.

There is a way to wage an insurgency without specifically targeting civilians though. But it's also easy for me to say that, here in the safety of my own home. My family hasn't been displaced, oppressed, or killed since 1948. I'm not subject to checkpoints in what is supposed to be my own territory. My access to food and water hasn't been cut off at the whims of those in power.

Hamas actions here are unconscionable, immoral, unethical. Regardless of your oppression the intentional murder of children and helpless civilians is wrong, but it's also easy to see how they end up coming to the conclusion that it's the only way for the Palestinians to strike back. Explanation isn't excuse though.

In short there is no good easy answer here. Anything that could bring about a just and lasting peace is unpalatable to both sides, and in both cases that unpalatability is reasonably justified.

The chans really need to be nuked.

No, they are not. But how many rockets do they send? What would the death toll look like if we took the attempted death count? The only reason palestine has more losses is because Israel has better defenses. But Palestine attacks far more often.

Why does Palestine attack? Because the Israelis like to cut off food shipments and access to water. It's no different than if you studied the way we murdered the Native Americans here. It suffers from the same problem that the other Star Trek shows from that era suffered from (other than DS9), a complete lack of long term consequences from decisions made. The Tuvix scenario is a perfect example. That should have had repercussions that lasted for seasons if not the whole show.

When they were all showing up armed to drag events they got super butthurt when confronted by armed members of John Brown Gun Club or local ANTIFA groups providing security for venues.
