Calling it "fake" is a disservice to the art. It's no different from something like ballet, or a stunt performance like cirque du soleil. They're putting themselves in real danger to do the stunts, they learn the moves and actually have the athleticism required to jump off shit, throw each other around, break tables etc.

So it's not accurate to call it 'fake,' it's just not really a competitive sport.

I got into the show for a couple of seasons, but it fell off quite a bit. I was never part of the Fandom that got... like...too into it, if you know what I mean.

I watched it one time for like five minutes and one of the guys got punched in the face. And he snapped his head to the wrong direction.

It didn't take much to realize how fake it was lol

Probably a very high chance. I've never looked into it though. My gf and I mostly just watch the audition episodes and then stop.

Basically the judges vote on auditions to 'get through' for consideration, and then after the auditions are done, the audience/viewers of the show vote on who goes forward into the 'real' competition. And from there, they pick acts with the popular vote until the end.

Edit: Without question, the audition episodes are more fun. After that, the acts get help producing their performances and it kinda gets a little too 'professional.' And the viewers vote for the wrong people.

Yeah, this is just how reality shows work. Ask anybody who's been on one and they'll tell you it's all played up.

Yeah, but I don't have it any more. That was my favorite console out of all the ones I've ever owned. I've never had more games that I enjoyed for any other console.

I loved how it felt like the first system that could truly replicate the feeling of playing an arcade game at the time. The big sound, the flashy visuals, it was all just right. No compromise.

At about 2:45 in the video she responds to Newt's thoughts as if he's saying things out loud. That's pretty clearly mind reading. At least for practical purposes. If someone were to think, for example: "all muggles should die," she would know it.

I feel like it had to try too hard to make that happen, especially in Queenie's case. For some reason they decided to make her really, really dumb in this movie. She can read minds and still fell for propaganda shit lol

Even if you can spin that Grindelwald is powerful enough to keep his thoughts hidden, she was in a huge auditorium surrounded by his supporters. She didn't catch any hints that maybe she won't live happily ever after with her No-Maj husband in a world where muggles are nothing but 'beasts of burden?'

Even her first scene did her dirty by having her charm Jacob to begin with. That was just weird and unnecessary, and left a bad taste in my mouth. Which was only made worse by the fact that she went with Grindelwald in the end.

It was bad. I get that it's trying to Empire Strikes Back us, but all it did was make me dislike her. And I liked her in the first one.

Yes. I played the hell out of Sonic Adventure 1 + 2, and more than a little bit of Virtua Tennis.

I just don't think it was. It was tripping over itself trying to spin too many plates. They tried to make Credence's identity into some big mystery, but then they ruined it with fakeouts and stuff. If you're going to do a fake out, it has to last longer than 30 seconds.

I was just starting to consider the implications of him being from the LeStrange family when Leta smashed the whole scene with a hammer made of baby-stealing monolog. Not that the previous guy's monolog was any more interesting. A bunch of convoluted melodrama about characters I never met and didn't care about.

The story just didn't feel planned. It feels like they just fired a shotgun at a Harry Potter word cloud and tried to piece together a story made of whatever words got hit.

The third one is inoffensively bad. It's a stark contrast from the offensively bad 2nd film but still not a good movie. There's a lot of tension that's supposed to be in the air, but the movie itself doesn't ever capture that.

I felt a lot of that in the second one, too. I think the series started strong but tried to launch into 6th-and-7th movie Harry Potter territory too quickly. They introduced characters whose sole purpose seemed to be an attempt at recreating big plot twists and iconic moments... except they forgot to make the characters likeable or developed beforehand.

We're obviously supposed to like Leta and feel some kind of way about her death, but bro I literally did not care. After the great baby swap fiasco I was content to watch her burn.

Oh and I forgot to mention....... why the fuck is Voldemort's snake in this? As just like...a woman. Who does nothing and has like 4 lines? I don't understand.

And the immortal alchemist guy. Why exactly did he have to be the one to tell all the other wizards to make a shield? Why did they try to make him important at all? Because his name was mentioned in the first movie?

It felt like it was trying way too hard to squeeze more life out of a story that ran its course. There are more stories to tell in the Wizarding World, but it can't just be references and nonsense. It's gotta be good.

Hell yeah, let's get it higher this year.

Continuing my recent binge of Harry Potter movies with my gf (who had seen them all before, but I never had), we moved on to the Fantastic Beasts series. The first one was lovely. Whimsical, magical hijinks with a bit of drama and dark magic thrown in. Liked it a lot.

Then came the second one... and holy shit, what a disaster.

Setting aside the utterly ridiculous assassination of Queenie's character.

Setting aside the nonsense of the 'love square' between Newt, his brother, Leta, and Tina.

Setting aside the fact that there were really only two interesting"fantastic beasts" in the movie (the big dragon cat was cool, and so was the seaweed dragon that got like 40 seconds of screen time in the beginning)...

Setting aside the fact that Grindelwald is just Not-Voldemort.

Setting aside all of that... the final third of the movie was fucking hilarious. The whole game of exposition ping pong was amazingly stupid. You know, the big scene where one guy reveals his tragic back story only for someone else to stick their tragic back story on the back of it? The one where Leta literally confesses to randomly deciding to steal somebody else's baby to avoid hearing her brother cry? And all this exposition leads up to the ending's reveal that Credence had nothing to do with any of those people and is actually a Dumbledore. So Leta stole a Dumbledore baby..... fucking......okay, whatever lol

I still don't fully understand the mechanics of the blue fire spell from the climax, either. Or why Grindelwald thought the best way to make his presence known was to weirdly drape transparent black sheets over some buildings, but everybody just kinda continued with business as usual while it was happening?

The best word to describe this movie was...... weird. I didn't really care for it. And I'm told that the third one gets even weirder. I don't even know if I want to watch it anymore. This one was a remarkable dip in quality compared to the HP series and the previous fantastic beasts movie.

I don't get the appeal of guys at all.
