i think we're up to four people who have replied to "I would enjoy this game if it simply had a pause button" with "maybe you should never play video games at all"

Are people actually taking the pause thing seriously. Outside of boss fights you can just save and quit. Inside of boss fights it very explicitly is on purpose that you can't pause

Why is this an argument

Losing a ton of progress from dying at a boss doesn't really happen any more though? They moved away from that because it was bad design. Now pretty much every major boss has a bonfire

Dying while looking for a bonfire is still tense and great and has nothing to do with learning attacks from a boss

I still think having an easy mode takes away from the experience they are trying to curate.

It's the same reason why Pokmon doesn't have a hard mode. They don't want it to be hard on purpose. Would I be much more interested in Pokmon if it was harder? Yes. Am I complaining about it in ever topic? No

It's actually amazing that it's close at all. Marvel outside of Spiderman was near worthless. The fact DC isn't cleaning up in theaters is pure horrible business decisions

Pretty much everything done that is done such as no pausing is curated to make the experience as curated as possible. This isnt a situation where they just overlooked pausing. They wanted you to not be able to pause and take a drink between boss phases or change equipment. Its to build an experience

I have no problem with people not liking the experience, but people who complain they should change it are clueless

It was plainly apparent that the only real way I had to win the mafia game was arguing that Lea's play was so bad that obviously any rationale town would kill her...

And I just didn't want to do that. I chose not being an asshole over trying to win and that could have altered the game. I assume I die Day 3 if I don't replace out which wasn't fair for scum.

I both don't think I can play mafia without being a jackass and I don't really want to be a jackass.

So I think I'm out. It was fun.

I finished the game tonight. Spent a lot of my time over the weekend and holiday just exploring for a while and building up my hearts and armor instead of just seeing what I found as I did the main quests. I ended with 71 shrines, 27 lightroots, and 26 korok seeds, while my Switch says that I played for '55 hours or more' (so I assume 55-60 hours). The final boss was a little underwhelming for me, since he was more or less a Phantom Ganon with a few extra tricks. I never had to parry him, either - I just did a second dodge after his dodge/counterattack and he never dodged that. It also helped that at one point, he more or less backed himself into a wall and let me whale on him for a while without actually dodging any of the attacks. The final phase was disappointing for me, too, since it felt like 90% of the fight was just wasted time spent gliding and diving onto his back.

I'll avoid rambling any further and say that while I think the story was a step down from BotW, just about everything else was better. BotW had a bigger impact on me when it released, though, as I'd never played anything like it, so I'm not sure which I would say I enjoyed more. I'll have to replay them both at some point in the future and see how I feel then.

Completely agree with the BotW thought. It was so similar to BotW that its hard for me to be wowed. Was it a lot better? I think? I think everything was just better in general from the abilities to the shrines.

But it was so similar that it wasnt nearly as impactful or surprising.

If you are thinking about getting a must play metroidvania, I would just buy Astalon Tears of the earth.

I also think bloodstained is overrated. It has way too many mechanics jammed in. Like kill 15 wolves side quests. Why are those in the game.

Havent seriously played Pokmon since diamond. Is there any real value in a shiny Pokmon? Can you just trade for one? Does it have better stats?

The game is obviously not made to expect you to get all of them. If you are not having fun doing it because you are compulsed to do so that's a you problem.

SS required the boring shit just to progress in the main story which is wildly different. BotW you can stop and go beat the game at literally any moment after the tutorial if you get bored

I think it's amusing you can basically get through the entire game without learning how to parry

And then in the final boss it's basically required

Anyways game beaten. Extremely fun. Had a great time, but didn't do anything memorable or unique enough to really crack my top games of all time list.

I'd argue most 3D Zeldas have a fair bit of arbitrary padding. I think it sticks out more in particular games depending on your own tastes, but I'm not sure SS was any worse than TP or TWW. Saying that as someone who thinks the latter two are great while thinking SS is just okay. I just never liked the padding argument, especially when comparing it to other 3D Zeldas.

I'm curious how people felt about the SS remaster? I had pretty fond memories of the game's combat, and still think it holds up as a strong case for motion controls enhancing a gameplay experience. But I opted to play through the remaster without them, as the analog controls sounded intriguing, and I think it hurt a lot of what I enjoyed about the original, and I think it contributed to me having a much more negative opinion on the game as a whole.

I think my biggest issue with Skyward sword padding is the game was already very long. Padding a game from 20 to 30 hours is whatever, but skyward sword had a good 35-40 hours of excellent game

So the extra 10-15 hours of random fetch quest and redo already done sections was maddening to me. Just cut it all and I would have thought SS was in discussion for best Zelda game because the highs were so good.

I dont hate SS because it was all bad, I hate SS because it is 75% best Zelda of all time 25% garbage which is maddening.

In the style of FFVII Remake/Resident Evil remakes, or just like the 3DS remake but with better graphics? (meaning almost the exact same game but just graphic improvement)

Honestly given how good the original is I expect it to just have better graphics

But I would hope there is new content

I have to think an OoT remake is coming at some point.

I never actually even played TP. Came out when I was out of the country for an extended period

Which is almost unique to him, but shows why he is the biggest loser of them all.

The implication is Tom was carrying them around the entire time just for that

I just absolutely loved Ken lost because of his outstanding flaws that always made him a bad CEO. He couldn't ever deal with situations that started to not go his way such as trying to call the best heart surgeons for his dying dad.

I am just so happy that is how it went down. It was so expertly precise.

There aren't really many characters left on the show that are redeemable

I would be shocked if any character is redeemed. That isnt the point. Probably the most innocent character in the show is Greg, and you catch glimpses that he wouldnt be any better of a person with power than anyone else.

My favorite parts of the show are when you catch glimpses of people like their mother also being total dicks to remind you that even the minor characters arent great people.

I was feeling red as scum before the replace and sheeps half attack of Lea but really can we lynch someone who isnt lea is not helping the matter.

It seems weird to me that his acceptance of the lynch is based on my play rather than Leas play as if that was more important.

We are at Lea/Sbell/Sheep. Feel extremely good about all of them being scum.

Plum feels too funny to be ScumPlum upon reading topic 5, which solidifies the Lea case for me. I think he is genuinely trying to solve, and I've never seen someone as lifeless in a game as the last time I saw ScumPlum's cadaver get passed through three whole game days. #103 topic 5 is what swung it for me. He's nowhere near miserable enough for scum who's just read innumerable pages of fish discourse.
