Everyone can have the same time practicing and doing the relevant things because stuff like showdown exists which you can do while going around in circles. But you can also just as easily say that people who have genned teams have more time to focus completely on testing while having the advantage of changing something much faster.

Because if you actually cared about competitive pokemon you would get a game that you know is going to impact competitive pokemon

VGC is the only competitive game where the player base feels entitled cheating and not playing because of how long they got away with it

I'm guessing the trap was someone got a pokemon in ScVi that was impossible without trading it to home from an earlier generation but they genned it directly into ScVi.

The check was that Home puts a marker on stuff that originated in a non-SV game. People were genning directly into SV and missing the marker as a result.

You're not describing merits of the game, you're talking about the merits of "working hard".

If I play in a Magic the Gathering tournament and my friend lends me his cards for the event, they don't take away the win even though I didn't "work hard" to open the packs and get the cards or pay money for them. (You can get banned from tournaments for playing with counterfeit cards, but it's never presented as a *strategic* advantage, just a capitalistic one)

Those are tournament legal and official cards, the genned equivalent would be printing cards at home and getting mad they figured out they were fake
