If I were to fancy to put more thought into it than TTT, I would say that the power levels are relative to the Mortal Level of the universe, and more importantly, the relative power levels of the people around them. That's really the only way to explain why some characters stagnate (Future Gohan and Future Trunks) despite years of fighting.

I pay for it for convenience. I can easily download things and put it on my phone/cast my computer to my TV, but I'd say 95% of the watched media I consume comes from Youtube at this point. Being able to just pop the app up on my TV or phone without ads or further hassle is worth it to me.
