TC's complaining that the levels are just hallways, so it's overly linear. I've only played a little bit of the first proper chapter and he's not wrong about that. The most exploration I've seen so far is one path that split into two branches that had items down both that joined back together at the end.

FF16's easy mode takes the form of some rings that you can equip.

One makes time slow down when you're about to be hit, letting you do the precision dodge easier.

One just lets you auto-evade entirely (this one and the last one don't work together, of course).

One automates your dog companion so you don't have to direct it to attack.

One makes it so you can do a full combo by just hitting Square once.

One makes it so you automatically consume healing items once you hit a certain health threshold.

So yeah, if he's using all of them, it's no wonder that a prologue boss - this might be the actual first boss in the game - is so easy.

Yeah, Moral Orel is fantastic, but it's a comedy series for about two seasons and then it's super fucking dark.

One of them is a woman who would have been perfectly happy if she was the last woman alive, so she determines the death of everyone else as no great loss. She's so bizarrely terrified of being raped that she digs her father's ancient, unmaintained pistol out and fires it at the first man to get near her. It explodes, killing her instantly.

The chapter where it's talking about the superflu's spread and the "no great loss" chapter are the best parts of the book.

So yeah, Avery Brooks hated it too. I did get some amusement from the end of the episode where they'd spent the entire episode thinking it was a "if you die in the game, you die in real life" situation, but the aliens just laugh in Quark's face when he mentions this and tells him that it was just a game.

I'm loving the active lore book or whatever it's called. I'm always terrible at figuring out the settings of these things, I think it's one reason I didn't get deep into FFXIV. The ability to just pop up a little screen with all the relevant backstory is great. I'd be so confused otherwise.

Thinking about it, it was kinda fucked up in this movie that Kingpin hired Olivia to bring him a new wife and child from another universe and she goes along with it despite knowing that being in another universe causes you to glitch out more and more until you're ripped apart.

One last thing I praise Origins for is that I think it's the best Christmas game out there. Really uses that Christmas setting for a nice rich background without overdoing it. Works especially well at the climax and Carol of the Bells going off.
