Chocobos are an iconic creature and seen all throughout the Final Fantasy universe. However, this particular chocobo is the primary protagonist of his very own spin-off games that delve into a variety of genres such as RPGs, racing, board games, card duels, minigames, etc. Several of the games have only been released in Japan.

Estinien Wyrmblood (FFXIV) --VS-- Porom (FFIV) - 19-15
This is the first win by FFXIV in the tournament. The game had gone 0-4 up to this point. It is also the 5th upset of the tournament, albeit another minor one, but it keeps the daily streak going nonetheless.

Gilbert "Edward" Chris von Muir (FFIV) --VS-- Dark Nation (FFVII) - 28-10
Rufus advanced to Round 2 yesterday, but his pet is not so lucky. Looks like Edward played a tune that put this doggo to sleep.

Braska (FFX) --VS-- (30) Laguna Loire (FFVIII) - 10-29
FFX-2 was actually supposed to be Braska's journey originally, serving as a prequel to the main game. However, the idea was scrapped for being too traditional and because the team didn't want a game with no female playable characters.

I thought the little guy was going to do it for a while there myself.

Anyone seen this show yet on Netflix? It's apparently Mike Flanagan's last horror series (creator of Hill House, Midnight Mass, etc.) before he leaves to work for Amazon Prime.

I think it was a fitting farewell series from him. Watching the mental frefall of the Usher children, crossed with the harshness of capitalism and wealth, specifically the pharma giants that benefited off of opiods.

I'll miss seeing shows like this on Netflix.

Yeah, I haven't played the series and researching that is kinda hard online when you have no frame of reference to what "Chocobo" looks like. I'll be updating the images in the gauntlet with this one here, thanks mnk.

I don't think I ever publicly acknowledged it before now, but the only reason this contest has photos in it is thanks to the guantlet you provided earlier. Otherwise, this would have likely been a photo-free contest. So thanks for the contribution.

LoL, I just took the photos from vcharon's guantlet. Honestly, the original photo looks like a random chocobo from FFX. If it makes you feel any better, I don't think any chocobo is beating Squall. Let me see if I can edit the image though with the one you provided.

ok so fun stat, guffguy's seeding is actually working out pretty well so far since, of the 24 matches to date, Fran is only the 2nd "upset" from a seeding perspective (after Ardyn > Zell).

I noticed that. I wonder how long it will stay true to that. I imagine it will deviate at some point, but maybe not.

Yes, by all metrics, the Brewers are currently in their golden age of the franchise having made the playoffs 5 of the last 6 seasons. The Brewers have 3 division titles in the past 6 years (2018-2023). The Brewers have that same amount of division titles throughout the rest of our franchise history (1970-2017), and that includes the aforementioned 26 year playoff drought in there. Sadly, not much playoff success has occurred during that time, with an NLCS appearance in 2018 and one in 2011 being our farthest recent success.

If you never heard of the RPG Secret of Evermore released on the Super NES, I dont blame you. It does, however, hold the distinction of being the only game developed wholly by Squaresoft's North American branch, never to be released in Japan. The game also includes a guest appearance by Relm and other FFVI party members as they appear amongst the crowd of spectators at the gladiator battle of Antiqua.

Garnet "Dagger" Til Alexandros XVII (FFIX) --VS-- Irvine Kinneas (FFVIII) - 30-8
Tetsuya Nomura wanted to strike a balance with Irvine to not overshadow Squall and not be too attractive, and so he gave Irvine a handsome appearance, but with a casual personality. Keeping with this idea, Nomura gave him goggles, but this idea was abandoned in favor of a cowboy-like appearance to set him apart from other goggle-wearing characters in the Final Fantasy series.

i will continue to defend cousins. as a vikings fan i feel like i can see he is one of the better qbs in the league. he isn't elite of course, but he is in the stafford tier of being good enough to win if the team around him is really strong. i may be one of the only vikings fans that wants to extent him at this point, but having him at least gives us a chance to win against anyone. he has been really good this year and seems to get better and better despite getting p old for a qb

I think Kirk Cousins has proven to be an above-average QB that can give his team a chance to win. That's why I mentioned him earlier in my ramble. He's not really considered a HOF contender, but he's not trash either. For us Packer fans trying to evaluate Jordan Love, we need to understand that there is a lot of room inbetween those two polar extremes (HOF or bust). Kirk Cousins being as good of an example as any.

How does Carolina feel about Bryce Young at the moment?

I was literally just going to post this! I saw that too. Apparently, every time the Brewers made the postseason (even going back to the 80s when they played in the AL), the team that knocked them out either made it to the World Series or won the World Series.

To keep that strange and frustrating record going, the Dbacks will need to at least make it to the World Series this year.

Call me stubborn, but I am not ready to dismiss Love yet and I am disheartened at all the Packer fans that are already throwing in the towel on this guy. It's been 5 fucking games!

Let's get some perspective here. Aaron Rodgers started 4-8 with this team last year. That's right, Aaron fucking Rodgers sucked on this team last year. A team that is now less talented this year than it was a year ago. The only veteran playmaker we have on offense is Aaron Jones, and he's been effectively out since the second half of week 1. Add in a shuffling offensive line, and Love has literally no help. What exactly are you expecting from this guy? For him to somehow perform better than Rodgers did with less talent?

Let's also not forget how Aaron Rodgers did his first season as a starter. He inherited a team that made it to the NFC championship game the prior season, and had a bevy of playmakers to play with his first year starting. Rodgers went 8-8 that year. He started 2-3 (sound familiar?) Nobody in the national media was talking about him being anything special. He showed some promise, showed some progress throughout the season. That was about it.

Now am I saying Love is destined to be the next Packer HOFer. No, of course not. But if history proves anything, it's that a 5 game sample size is not large enough to make any realistic judgment. Especially since we have seen a mix of good and bad from him so far. Packers fans treating Love like he either needs to be a HOFer or he's a bust are just delusional. You realize most quarterbacks fall somewhere inbetween? The Kirk Cousins line exists for a reason.

Now, I will admit, after a very impressive first couple of weeks for Love, followed by a promising 4th quarter comeback in week 3, he has regressed in his play these last 2 weeks. But let's just take a deep breath and give this guy a chance. Let's see what happens when Aaron Jones finally comes back. Let's see if there is any growth with Love and these receivers as the weeks progress. This team is young and in rebuild mode. There are going to be ups and downs. Let's not blame all our problems on Love when he, by far, is not the only one having problems.
