because an amazing actor played him and the show had amazing writing and amazing supporting actors all around. it is one of the best shows of all time for a reason tbf

kinda the same way walter white was such a compelling character. breaking bad is a phenomenal show but isn't at the level of sopranos imo which makes walt less compelling than tony while still being one of the most compelling tv characters ever

breaking bad had the same issues i have with a lot of popular tv drama (the boys too) where im completely hooked first season...then it kind of meanders and gets stretched out and familiar plot beats keep being reused except they get exponentially less captivating each time
