Im not sure why yall feel so entitled to free shit. Come on now.

We complain that the ads aren't properly done. That's why most people are pissed off. I've had times when I've finished an ad and less than a minute later I get another ad. Ergo why I use adblocker. It's even worse with YouTube shorts, where you can get a minute long ad for a 15 second clip.

I get why ads are important, but they need to be handled a lot better than they currently are.

That said, I can't help but criticize the cruise ship for only being 3 days instead of the standard 5 or 7.

employees that choose to commit time theft deserve to get crap from management
if you're clocked in do your job its not hard and neither is your job
they should be fired and replaced

and that's where you seem to misunderstand my meaning. I'm talking about employees who used to actively show up to work just to get yelled at, so they choose to stay home and only work enough to pay bills. I'll give you an example. I worked at Wal-Mart a couple years ago as a store standards. Essentially a cart pusher with a few extra duties. 2 minutes into my shift our produce manager would lay into me if I wasn't already outside getting carts. I could be talking to the other store standards about how we are going to approach bringing the carts in and she would lay into us. It got so bad that the moment that I quit to go back to college, the entire store standards staff quit. All of them, except for one who couldn't find work, who left a month afterwards.

They had to shut down that department for 6 months because no one wanted to work there because of the shit and abuse managers were giving us. It's so bad now that my friend who has been working there for 17 years is now quitting to work elsewhere, all because they are forcing him to do the work of 4 people. Rather than replacing the workers, they attempted to save money and get the workers who worked in other departments to do Store Standards and were forced to hire new staff when all of them refused to work there due to how much crap the Store Standards staff were taking on a daily basis. In the span of 1 shift I would get yelled at 10+ times by different management. We were doing our jobs, but we didn't have the support of management. If anything it was anti-support. The one day we had enough people to cover the carts, they actually took one of us and stuck us in a dead department we had no training in.

And I'm not saying it isn't the employees fault. There are certainly employees with bad work ethics. But at the same time, we have management who don't know what they are doing.

I had bosses call me when I was at a funeral 10 hours away burying my best friend of 15 years. They just don't give a damn. They expect 1 person to do the work of 4 people, which is why no one wants to work there anymore, and the reason self checkouts are used as much as they are in that store. They actively choose to not hire people. Which is why employees don't get fired.

the sad part is, and I've pointed this out in other topics, is that at least where I live, self checkouts were brought in to help with the growing lineups that could not be managed by the working staff.

At least where I live, the reason those checkouts exist are because younger cashiers just don't show up to work in the first place. Keep in mind where I live in Canada we pay the minimum wage, which is something like 13-14 dollars here, and there are plenty of hours to get. Cashiers just don't want to take crap from management, and they actively choose to hang out with friends and don't get punished for it.

Rarely is it the case where there aren't enough employed staff. If anything we overstaff. It's just that, at least here, those staff get bullied by management and don't want to work every day.

This literally reduces the number of competitors. This is not good for gamers.

Then the other companies need to step up then. This whole bullshit of "it literally reduces the number of competitors". Do you have any clue how many franchises there are out there that chose to not make a new game when they could?

Unreal Tournament
Tribes
SOCOM: US Navy Seals
Medal Of Honor
Killzone
Goldeneye
TimeSplitters
Quake
Hexen

That's only naming 9 of them. I don't know how many are owned by Microsoft atm, or how many have recently made a game, but the point still stands. People make a big fucking deal that losing COD to Microsoft is massive deal, its only a massive deal because companies stopped trying to compete with Activision in the first place.

Did you know that at one point Medal of Honor was actually beating Call of Duty? It took 4 COD games before they overtook MOH on PC. Sony for quite some time had SOCOM, but then just stopped making them. Hell, for a while Battlefield was overtaking Call of Duty, but then they just started releasing garbage. There are so many franchises out there that they can avail of that they actively do not choose to port or make a sequel to, and that's not even counting your money making franchises like Spyro, Gex, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, and Jak and Daxter. Or making original new games that people could get excited about.

You want companies to hear you? speak with your wallet. Stop buying COD games and start buying other games. There are so many great games that never see a sequel that should.

Like what? This isn't an argument I haven't played 4

-There are issues with latency

-Resistances have been busted since the game launched, as in they aren't working. They said they were going to fix it in season 2, but I've yet to see any notes about it whatsoever
-Lack of end game content. They have over 100 dungeons, but only 20 or so bosses. Essentially they made a game that is 3x the size it should be for the amount of mobs/bosses there are currently in the game

Lets just say there are better options coming up in the next year with Titan Quest 2, as well as Path of Exile 2. Both cheaper and ran by developers that actually care about the way their game looks.

some people are just too stockholm-syndromed to tell good competition apart from bad competition.

I look at it this way. Since Activision initially acquired Blizzard, games went from AAA to AA, you can no longer buy items in-game with in-game currency, and most of the original staff left to form their own company. And who can forget the debacle of "If you make a custom game in WC3 Reforged, we own the rights to it", which I would assume killed all the hype for the game as that was a massive reason people played it in the first place.

according to a former dev, Kotick would give the team unnecessary projects just to fill time and instead of putting the results into the game he'd just scrap them. So at the very least completed content has a chance of being pushed to live. I would imagine there is a good deal of unused content that they can release all at once to fill the void left from the 3 years of barely any updates.

It's not something anyone should experience. But I can still voice the opinion that I don't like the guy. I just don't make it the focal point of conversation, and just mentioned why I don't like the person, and it has nothing to do with his current state, but how he was during a healthy state.

And as I've mentioned, I've actually gone through that with my own family. My grandfather had dementia before he passed, and my aunt was an advanced Schizophrenic with early onset dementia/Alzheimer's. We forgave her for her actions while she was sick, but that doesn't mean we forgave her for her actions when she wasn't sick or was medicated.

You can be both mind you. You can feel bad for someone and still dislike the person, which is what I'm trying to say here.

I mean, you just described having poor mental health / brain functioning during the day.

I can relate to the peace of nighttime though, and not having a horrible boss around. Thats not related to fucking up your natural cycle though. Humans are not nocturnal creatures.

It can take months or years to recover, depending on the person and circumstances.

.....I take it you've never read any of the other topics I've posted on regarding my mental health. I've been a night owl since I was 5 years old. My poor mental health has nothing to do with me being a night owl. My poor mental health is because I suffer from an extreme form of sleep apnea unrelated to weight, where I only get 1/2 hour of sleep when unassisted, which is why when I got my first CPAP machine 2 years ago, my life changed for the better. I'm also forced to be on ADD pills as they cause my body to wake up as a side effect. If I don't take those pills, I can have 3-4 naps a day, each lasting 20-30 minutes.

This is coupled with things like Seizures at 4, High Blood Pressure at 7 (because of an extremely rare kidney defect, before anyone blames it on weight).

If I try to sleep at a reasonable time, I'm literally lying in bed with my eyes wide open until at the very earliest 2. My mental health was never affected by working overnights. I've attempted the normal work schedule. It just doesn't work for me. I spend the first 2 hours barely functioning, and only really wake up until halfway through my shift. Yet, if I take a schedule from 8 pm until 6 am, I'm wide awake and alert for most of it.

That's just me though. I'm sure others are very different.

So much this.

Also, staying up after midnight and sleeping in late is not the same thing as working overnights shifts, esp. on a scheduled regular basis.

Its horrible on brain function and mental / emotional health as well, especially as you get older.

Wouldnt do it for any amount of money unless it meant I could retire in a few months/year and be set for life (but thats not what this topic is about)

News to me, my mental health was at its peak when I was doing overnight shifts, and I was at my happiest. When I was working overnight shifts I worked with some of the coolest people I've ever met, unlike my day counterparts. I guess I'm the outlier in this situation.

Working day shifts made the most miserable I've ever been. Constantly having bosses getting up in your business telling you how to do a job you have done hundreds of times before. Not even bosses from your department, bosses from other departments in the company who have no business running a coffee machine, let alone a company.

Night time is quiet, gives me time to actually get my work done in peace, and I can work faster and understand my workload better than I ever could during the daytime. Meanwhile, even if I get into a schedule of working mornings, I'm miserable for the first 2 hours, even after coffee. I have problems processing information, and I speak to people differently. And I'm talking about a regular sleep schedule of going to bed at 10, waking up at 6/630.
