For me def WoW.

I also really enjoyed FF11 but mostly the community, the game itself was rough even back then.

Guild Wars 2.

And this one super niche Korean grindfest that I can't remember the name of. It was basically akin to FFVIII where it had a super addictive card game that I spent 10x the amount on it instead of the actual game.

WoW. I started playing the last week of November 2008. It was just after Wrath released so the player count was still pretty high. It took me months to reach max level for the first time because I spent so much time exploring, joining guilds, doing dungeons and collecting mounts.

Maple Story. I still have this game installed and play sometimes. I started during beta. I remember times like when a GM had their account hacked and someone spawned a bunch of high level monsters in popular spots. I remember the account Vivi who was the highest level character in the game. I remember doing PQ every day after school, with both friends from school and people on GameFAQs.

It's a tie between those two. I was more social in Maple Story but WoW is technically the better game.

I really enjoyed playing private servers of Ragnarok Online. Regular Ragnarok was so slow to level, but private servers made it bearable. Outside of that, Wow, and I think I played a bit of Allods Online? its been a while so I don't remember if that was the name of the game, but it was in a very early stage of development.

Phantasy Star Online 2 (Base game) when episode 6 was finished and was in its prime. Once NGS was released all the casual content/mission passes/etc was axed. The JP version of PSO2 had more features tho

Maplestory. Enjoyed it so much that I got nostalgic and started playing it again lol

I also really enjoyed Cabal Online in it's prime. It had a nation war that happened at set times throughout the day. Basically a 100 vs 100 moba like takeover map. It was chaos, but it was so much fun.

WoW during Vanilla and the Burning Crusade easily. It was the perfect time for such a game. The game was large, but server population were fairly stable and small enough for you to get to know the people in the world. Social media wasn't really a major thing and datamining was much more primitive, and theorycraft wasn't really done by most people.

All that changed and we will never be able to experience such a game like that again. Classic tried to recreate it but social media, datamining and theorycraft ruined it.

DCUO and FFXIV. FFXIV peaked 2016-2019 for me. The period after patch 3.1 of Heavensward to the end of Stormblood patch 4.58, but before Shadowbringers released and ruined everything. The content was great, the combat was great, jobs were great, armoring choices were still around, PvP was good, and the game wasn't braindead easy

i place the expansion where siege of orgrimmar as peak WoW because it also had the endless proving grounds and dear god both of those were great tank content

vengeance used to exist and was a really fun mechanic to manipulate, great tanks could pull massive damage

ffxiv's peak was probably shadowbringers and the story and characters were neat but the actual gameplay isn't that strong
