Hey, you can think what you want. You can say what you want, too. And then when you inevitably make a topic complaining about moderation bias because you were warned for flaming another user we're all going to sit here and politely smile and nod because you're the 10,000th person to make that same complaint.

The gamefaqs terms of service has always prioritized treating other users with respect over anything else. The problem is that quite a few users, and apparently most of the politics board, want to live under the sort of Reddit/ResetERA style moderation policy of "I can be an absolute asshole to anybody I want as long as I think the right things."

People will dress it up a million different ways, but that's fundamentally the issue.

This is really the key that makes it so great. It feels like you are on an adventure more than any other open world game does. So many of the other games are just "follow this yellow line to your next objective, or go after one of the 500 collectables we put on the map for you". With Zelda there may be an indication of where to go, but the game doesn't tell you to get there a certain way, and there may be a lot of collectables, but you need to explore and find them, they aren't all just pinned on a map for you.

I think the best example of this are the memory fragments from the first game. All you have are a bunch of photographs from places around the world and you have to figure out where they are, eventually finding the exact right spot in the middle of nowhere to trigger the cutscene. There's no dotted line. No giant quest marker over the destination. Just a photo of a mountain range where you can kind of tell which direction the picture must have come from and that's it.

It actually makes you pay attention to the environment and landmarks so you can orient yourself. It doesn't feel like an objective on a quest log. It feels like you're actually trying to recover your memories by going to places you've been with only clues as to where those places are and it's up to you to figure it out.

LoZ1 has more to do though. LoZ1's levels have more meat than shrines and the stuff you get from caves in LoZ1 is a lot more rewarding than BotW giving you a weapon that breaks 5 hits later.

Sure, there are still differences, but the fundamental shift from the ocarina era back to a true adventure game is undeniable.

People liked it because it went back to the roots of the series. The original legend of Zelda wasn't "here's a linear chain of elementally themed dungeons where you're going to get a gimmick that you use in that dungeon and then once more to unlock a path to the next dungeon." It was "drop Link in a field, it's dangerous so take this sword, go adventuring". The franchise was inspired by miyamoto's child adventures in the woods behind his house.

The reason why people like the change up isn't because there's collectibles. They've all but outright stated they don't want people going around trying to collect everything. What makes this new format so great is that you can boot up the game, look in any direction, see something cool on the horizon, go on a little quest to get there, do a bunch of little activities along the way, and when you do arrive there actually is something cool to do. It's an adventure. And it really feels like it.

1. The way the rules are as explained by senator white house is, the same rule that prevents her from having a temporary replacement on the judiciary committee is the same rule that doesn't allow her to be replaced permanently even in a special election if she were to resign.

2. The only way democrats have a majority is the scenario where she has returned and is able to vote.

3. Calling for her to resign is basically handing Republicans the ability to block any actually good judges, only GOP approved judges would go through from now on until the end of her term.

no they aren't scrapping it. They are removing the custom hero aspect. There is still going to be a PvE mode.

That is absolutely horrible what the fuck? That would delete like 90% of their library. It would erase pretty much every classic video from 2006.-2012 Why are they trying to follow Musk's twitter direction? Even Musk says he's gong to archive old tweets. If it's only the currently active within 2 year channels left it might as well be Tiktok at that point. This would be the best possible time for a competitor to swoop in.
Best I can hope for is maybe they're not going to target accounts with videos or significant content in their accounts.

It says "may." Google isn't going to shoot themselves in the foot and delete videos people are still watching. That's good ad revenue. This is likely for dead accounts with dead videos that nobody watches that have been sitting there for years.

This just reinforces my pet theory that this was ALWAYS about rushing out a version of Overwatch without lootboxes because a bunch of countries were threatening to legislate them as gambling. It's right around when they announced it, it explains the "backwards compatibility" with OW1 (so that people in countries that allow lootboxes will keep using them), and explains why it was rushed out as soon as the lootbox controversy went away and they've since scrapped basically everything that would have made it stand out as a real product.

Funny enough, that's my fine line between a good storyteller and a good DM. There's no such thing as too weak or too strong in D&D. Only a DM with too limited an imagination. Although that all goes away if you're playing a D&D game like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, or Pathfinder Exiles where the computer shows no such mercy.

White Wolf (now Onyx Path) games are always wonderfully designed. It really makes me wish it was easier to find fancy d10 sets from manufacturers other than Chessex, but everybody wants to just make dice for the D&D/Pathfinder crowd.

I'm lucky enough to have a friend who got deep into all the White Wolf games early, like... back when the Hunter.net was an actual, functional RP community and the actual writers were drip-feeding story beats to the community in-character. He tells me all kinds of stories about his times playing VTM, Mage, Wraith, Werewolf, and even a bit about some of their later games like Demon and... Mummy. It's always interesting to hear.

As another long-time D&D player who is also obsessed with choice, I would highly, highly recommend you go read up on White Wolf's "Mage: The Ascension" tabletop game. The spell system is something of dreams.

Imagine D&D spellcasting, except instead of investing in schools of magic you invest in fundamental forces and then craft your own spells with different levels of each. Want to do fireball? You need 3 levels in "Forces" and 2 levels in "Prime". Want to make someone's shot miss? Just use one level of "Entropy" to cause a part in the gun to decay and the bullet to jam or misfire. At level 4 forces, you can induce friction in another living being such that the very act of breathing feels like your entire body is being rubbed against sandpaper.

Oh, but in this world magic is taboo thanks to the Technocracy, and the very act of casting a spell that LOOKS like magic will cause your very soul to be ripped apart as the Paradox you've induced in the eyes of people through your use of vulgar magic within range reflects off reality and hits you instead. So you need to cast spells that look like mundane events (if you're in public) by manipulating 9 fundamental "Spheres" of magic in any combination you choose to invent your own way out.

It makes me wish I never got into D&D and got into White Wolf instead. Mage makes D&D spellcasting in any edition look like absolute garbage.

Enjoyed the first movie, but I had no interest in shazam family adventures and thought the whole power sharing gimmick was the weakest part of the first movie.

To be fair, back when d&d still meaningfully bothered with things like mundane damage types, crushing weapons tended to be effective against the undead, whereas slashing weapons were weak against undead.

There's tons of YA content with a higher bar than Twilight that has been rewarded for it. Avatar TLA etc. Don't think we should acquiesce to the idea of kids not recognizing or deserving good stories.

That's a fair point, and they absolutely deserve well written stories. I guess my point was more that a well written YA story is more of an exception than the rule, so finding a YA book dumb is a bit like digging into the $5 movie bin at Wal-Mart and then being surprised that the movie is mediocre.

Healer isn't a class. You could choose from cleric, paladin or bard which all can function as healers (Rangers also to a much lesser extent.)

Or Artificer, if you want to literally be able to hit someone with a hammer and have it heal them instead of hurt them.

What's wrong with Red Sonja? The unoffical third Conan movie.

I haven't seen it, mostly because I think it's only ever been available on streaming through HBO, but even still that movie came out 3 years after Conan so it's from that same brief window where the genre was getting ANY kind of quality movie.

Hollywood really needs to revive the sword and sorcery genre. Outside of Conan (and its sequel) and The Beastmaster, the whole genre is just like... awful B movies like Masters of the Universe or Wizards of the Lost Kingdom.

Get George Miller to direct it, since Fury Road is basically a desertpunk sword and sorcery movie.

Ah true. For some reason I thought it was 5th level. Either way, it's kind of funny how much better Sorcerer would be versus Wizard if we're talking living as the class since you just get to innately learn what you most want to learn rather than having to hunt down spellbooks from all around the world (and possibly secret/guarded for the good stuff).

At this point they should probably do what they did with Tien in Dragon Ball: have him retire to go train the next generation of monks off in the mountain. Introduce one of his disciples as a new playable character and turn him into the training room NPC or something.

Some of the sorcerer subclasses get unlimited flight at higher levels.

I mean, if we pretending that we're actually living in the d&d world instead of just playing a character, then a sorcerer would get unlimited flight far towards the end of his lifespan, assuming he doesn't use magic to unnaturally extend it. A druid is going to get flight as a teenager.

Edit: but I suppose the TC didn't clarify as to whether you were landing in this world as a level 1 of that class or level 20.
