Mario sometimes receives multiple games within a single year. There's no way that Nintendo could pull Chris Pratt away from Hollywood for that kind of commitment. I like Charles Martinet, but the voice that he gave Mario doesn't work for lengthy stretches of dialogue. Having a new voice actor opens up doors for greater storytelling and character development. (Of course, that's what got Sonic in trouble.) |

Besides, tying villains into current politics has always been a thing. In Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe, Ming dressed like Hirohito, ordered around a bunch of Germanic henchman, and had a heavyset Mussolini stand-in named Torch as his righthand man. There was also a character who referenced Ming's "dirty concentration camps." People in the future might not get that King Kala's awkward handwaving when he talks is reminiscent of Donald Trump's mannerisms, and they might not see Ming's invasion of Earth as a parallel of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, but they'll still see an evil dictator and a buffoonish puppet ruler who answers at his master's beck and call. |

They think that anything LGBTQ is an evil, and allowing anything to support it is supporting evil. The politicians don't think that they're "saving someone from a life of sin." People who grew up in a guarded church environment believe that. The politicians have enough exposure to the real world to know that it's bigotry to isolate and/or persecute homosexuals and trans people. And even a person's orientation were a choice, what business would it be of anyone else's? The same Book of the Bible that prohibits homosexuality says that it's wrong to get tattoos and eat shellfish. We don't try and make life hell for those folks. I am all for giving people the benefit of the doubt. I don't think that every conservative is a knowingly hostile and evil person. But unless you've completely shut the world out for the past three or four decades, I don't think anybody can realistically oppose homosexuality and still think they're one of the good guys for doing so. |
