Wow, thats freaking insane. I was also in a Honda Civic (passenger) and this kid was facing us in a parking lot. He turned the car on and the accelerator stuck and was probably going about 45 (massive SUV), but we were able to brake in time. The kid managed to get the car on the street and couldnt stop it, so he panicked and bailed out at a dangerous speed. Then the car hit a tree and he definitely would have been killed if he was in it.

He ragdolled on the ground and then instantly got up and started walking. The entire thing was honestly mildly traumatic and I am officially 110% on board with having every car on the road be driverless. At least I want to double down on the efforts to get this done ASAP because people are not paying attention and the SUVs and trucks get bigger every year.

How doesn't it make sense? I live in Los Angeles and we don't have an intricate subway system, so it's mostly buses with a few above ground light rails. I don't hate having to drive everywhere, because it's what I grew up with. But I do hate having to use our public transportation. It's dirty, it's crowded and it takes 2-4 times as long to travel anywhere. My girlfriend, for example lives about 24 miles away from me. By car, it takes me 35 minutes to get to her. By public transportation, it will take 2 hours and 21 minutes. And that's assuming I don't miss any transfers because 1 bus is running late.

I'm all for improving our public transportation, but that doesn't mean that I plan on ever using it.

Honestly should've just done it with Ryuk dropping the Death Note in an American high school and that's the only plot detail adapted from the original. Doesn't even need to be in the Death Note universe, just a different take on the starting premise, basically an alt universe thing. Would've been way more interesting.
