They did just fine coming up with things for the show that werent in the books in earlier seasons. Like everything between Tywin and Arya, thats unique to the show.

The Tywin and Arya stuff was sort of entertaining but completely out of character and nonsensical if you put any thought into it

Modern setting, main cast is all human, relatively small core cast, linear time progression so no weird casting changes or anything.
