Not at all. With swift sail you spend very little time in the water. And the grid system makes it obvious how to get from one island to the other. It's just a fancy loading screen.

There's just a ton of stuff to do in the overworld, and the dungeons are decent to great. That's all it takes to make a great Zelda.

Windfall island is one of the best levels ever.

WW is amazing with the HD fixes. They really figured out to mash everything good about Zelda together.

It's not a quantum field but many. Some are not matter because they have no mass.

Man I just could not disagree with this more. I actually think the non-dungeon stuff in SS is the strongest in the series, sans BotW, since they made it feel like one giant dungeon anyway. There's occasional fetch quest nonsense tacked in there, but most of it rules.

This is objectively true. MM was the only one with better non-dungeon activities (although many can be considered an extension of the dungeon), and WW was decent too. The rest, especially TP, are totally soulless empty areas that you just ride through to get to where you need to go. TP even gives you a teleport to skip it entirely.

Tazzy nailed it though by saying "forced to engage with". That's typically called gameplay, but it's kinda shocking to a Zelda player to have actual gameplay in the overworld, when they are used to a blank transition area. It's thus seen as a burden, keeping you away from the "good stuff", because you have been conditioned to think the only thing worth playing in Zelda is a dungeon.

BOTW's genius was removing dungeons entirely, so players are forced to accept that the "good stuff" is all outside. I think it sucks not to have dungeons, but maybe it was necessary to break 2 decades of conditioning. I hope after TOTK they can make a game that's pretty much exactly like SS, but people will understand it much better.

Rockslide was a 4/10 with the only downside being you need to play Darkhawk at some point. Typically 4/10s have much worse downsides than that, so the nerf seems good.

Jeff/Polaris/Miles has been really strong in my deck recently. Black Bolt/Stature seems strong but requires specific draws. So I would try doing a similar kind of rock deck to disrupt their draws. Maybe go the Zabu Wong route to beat them on total power as well as boost Rockslide for your own Darkhawk.

You can also bait the Enchantress with Wong, or protect it by playing it on their own Zabu or Darkhawk.

Super boring but typical top 10 due to regression to the mean. Tetris is an impressive inclusion though.

I've been flubbing my Galactus counters even though my deck has so many options. I've been seeing way fewer of them so I'm rusty.

I actually don't understand the weird stuff people misrepresent me saying. I don't really try though.

But people saying the game is great because you can play it however you want - except my way - I've understood that for a very long time. Been that way since the game came out.

It's by far the most fun way to play. I'm not going to spend dozens of hours building stamina just to come back and go up a random mountain. It's fun to be able to go where you want when you want. You'll notice BOTW fans say they love that about the game, but when I do it I'm wrong.

I do all the time, especially mentioning you can farm infinite stamina fish which lets you climb anywhere you want if you're willing to grind. So it really is a tedium gate more than a creativity or ability gate.

And even if it WAS an ability gate, that's not good for the structure of the game. There's 100 hours of gameplay without retreading steps. Are you expected to do that 100 hours a second time after getting your stamina bar to max, since you can now access even more places? I can never accept that kind of proposition from a game.

What's the typical detractor argument? I haven't really seen much stuff against FF7R tbh. Just people who don't like the kingdom hearts nonsense (fair) or prefer the original (also fair) but nothing about the game being bad.

There's new defenses pulled out every time which is pretty fun. Han's post about progression last time was awesome.

That's included in the number yeah. Back then only 5% of people actually posting didn't like it, now it's about 50% of people actually posting. Of course the vast majority of non-posters DO like it and always have.

That's totally beside the point. Zelda could & should be part of that trend since it's an awesome series that still does things better than the competition (as BOTW proved with a few key innovations). Especially since AAA games have not been part of that quality trend, it's indies and the resurgence of mid-size studios mostly.

No, we were also super rare back when it came out. It's way more fashionable to criticize it nowadays. It's like 50/50 instead of 5/95.

And yes that means if you're in the 7/10 crowd today you were most likely in the GOAT 11/10 crowd when it came out so you should sit down and take the next 10 years of mediocre Zelda games that you signed up for.

Odyssey is about as dense with activities as BOTW tbh. It's better but far from 10x better. The moons are as diluted as korok seeds. Only about 1/8th of them are worth doing. SMG2 was 10 times better use of space for sure.

Like, go play the mexican desert level again.

One of the best feelings as a Galactus player is beating an opponent after they disrupt Galactus. You can just feel the smug smirk ripped off their face.

What's your usual vector? Usually they win normally with Spiderman or I can't throw priority so their Knull wins. Sometimes they forego the Galactus and win another way. But I can't remember a counter to a disruption.
