Julia Sweeney is the dark haired woman. Known mostly for It's Pat, she was in Pulp Fiction for a couple minutes.

The blonde is Melanie Hutsell I believe. Can't tell much about what she did.

Regardless of what you see on court shows, defense lawyers aren't going to waste time trying some tactic they know isn't going to work. Nor do they want to try a case they know they can't win. If it's obvious the defendant is guilty they will suggest pleading so to save some time and maybe show the judge they have remorse to get a lesser sentence.

If the defendant insists on a trial though the lawyer will do what they can, but they aren't going to lie and blow their credibility over a client they really don't care about.
