Boggles my mind that there are people who legit complain about working from home.

F***in go out and see friends or family or run errands or something. Be grateful you dont have to sit in traffic wasting precious time, or throw money down the toilet for gas and car maintenance.

I wouldnt complain about it if it wasnt for too long. But I also dont enjoy it. Im fine with working at the office That said, I also dont have much traffic to really worry about Also, its not too far, so gas isnt a major issue. And whether I was going to drive to work or not, Id still have some car maintenance That said, my best social interactions are at work where I currently am

You guys heard of the Omegaverse? And if so, what are your thoughts on it?

Part of the idea with Garden Burger was that you *did* know exactly what was in it, and that feels like that's what it is here. That is as opposed to something like Impossible where even if you can literally look up the ingredients they are more on the "this is about making a crappy imitation of a meat patty" than "this is a tasty product." There's plenty of places by me that have cart attendants specifically because there's no cart corrals. They ARE the cart corral. So when you bring the cart back to the store, you taking his job. Even when you bring it to one of the corral in the parking lot, you're taking part of his job, as it's their job to bring them all to the corral and then back into the store.

The "it's not my job" argument is a weak one based off of "how it used to be".

People used to refuse to go to self-service gas stations because "Its not my job to pump gas". Now I'd bet it's most people's preference because of the time convenience.

For the food, depends on the place. Some places do actually pick up your trash at the table, though not all do Its usually very few that still do that

If they dont have a cart corral, then they wouldnt have a cart attendant. So, you wouldnt be doing their job. Or how my store has the baggers walk the carts out so they can bring them back. So, when I bring mine back there, its not taking away a job as they never made that a job. They just have baggers who are basically the cart attendants. And they have enough customers that I just let them help the others So, youre wrong there as I cost no one their job The places with the corrals have cart attendants, and in that case, I do leave the carts in them. Not only that, but theyll still usually keep their job. As even during Christmas, I was scheduled to work even though my day was pretty easy as people were fighting over carts, or following people to their car to get carts

Whats bad about it? Its look correct. Once you have a certain amount of groceries, it becomes slower. Not matter how fast you are, its starts to become faster with a cashier (assuming theyre at least average cashier speed) since while youre unloading groceries into the belt, they are scanning and bagging (or scanning if they have a bagger) So, multiple things are happening at the same time When youre done unloading, you start putting bags in the cart

And many of the self-checkout areas do have the weight thing to make sure you arent stealing, which could also slow you down Some coupons do have problems Ive seen tons of people who have trouble with produce. And you do have to have someone for alcohol

So, they are right that it can be frustrating

I like to have 2 so they arent lonely. Only got one cat, though But she grew up with the dogs

Self checkout has always been faster because theres usually 10+ registers going at once so even if a few people are slow, things tend to move fast.

Its probably because a good chunk of them have full carts. People always think self-checkout is automatically faster. But thats only if you have a few items. When you have a full cart, its much faster for a cashier to scan and bag your stuff The only thing you might have to wait for is a line, if there is one But self-checkouts can have lines, too, so

The store by me, you get a handheld scanner. You grab stuff off the shelf, scan it, and put it in your bag. So you bagging everything as you buy it.

Then they have self checkout kiosks where you just scan the barcode on the handheld scanner, and it rings everything up all at once.

Every so often, maybe every 10 times I go, they have an attendant do an "audit" where they'll scan 3-5 items in your bags to make sure you scanned them and aren't trying to steal anything. And if you buy booze they have to override the purchase with your birthday info.

But other than that, you scan as you take things off the shelf, and check it all out at once.

They even have a phone app where you can put your credit card info in and avoid the self checkout line altogether.

I love the self scanner at my Stop & Shop.

To be able to scan everything as I pick it out, and then just swipe my card and walk out saves me at least 15 minutes of waiting on line, unloading my cart, and then bagging everything.

Would you still have to wait in a line to bag everything before leaving the store? Or do you skip the bagging part altogether?

I dont use them Plus, when I do actually actual shopping, it definitely takes longer, so its only fast if I have a couple of items. Anyway, I personally just avoid them, anyway Luckily, the places I shop still have a good amount of cashiers And many customers at those stores also seem to avoid self-checkout

It was fucked up they made him train her even though he wasn't a captain and had interviewed for that spot. They shoulda made her train under the other night shift captain. Man had ran that shift for like 4 months and despite having a captain over him on the other rotation he ran that one too. He knew the job. He was tough to work for cause he was strict but he didnt go about it in a way that was making people quit left and right like the current captain. You'd be mad at him that day but you'd be laughing about it the next day cause he was always kinda humorous in how he said and did things

Working in a prison I recognize some as we are "Para military " I know Sgt (sergeant) and OIC (officer In charge)

But yeah I've seen it plenty. My captain seems that way but I've only known her as a cpt. I understand she was actually worse as a Sgt. Have a Sgt that was a coward as an officer but as a Sgt suddenly he's got balls about him..guess causw whenever he deals with a inmate now he's got officers with him.

Also had a LT. (Lieutenant) who was OIC but when captain came and took over he left shortly after because unlike the last captain he worked under she wouldn't let him run the show. Well that and he was bitter he didn't get the captain spot with the added slap in the face he had to train her to do the job he tried to get

When I was in the AF decades ago, we had this officer that was a real pain. In fact he was so bad that the entire squadron got him fired because they failed one of their drills in spectacular fashion. My suggestion would be to go along with streamofthesky's idea.

I would if he was going to be our boss for a while. But this is the last week. It was a bit of a problem on Travis AFB where I was stationed, but honestly it's a problem everywhere. You are going to run into guys like that (usually fairly incompetent, which keeps them from moving up, but not enough for them to get fired/moved somewhere else usually).

Luckily my time in the AF was just 2 years since they let me out when the Gulf War ended (and they couldn't give me my guarantied job) and most of the time was just running as a courier on base (so no direct boss/person over me to deal with). I still saw a few people I was really glad I was not directly under though.

After leaving I usually ended up in management positions, Lead Tech, Managing Shipping and handling for Value Media, Managing a law firm etc, so didn't end up working for too many people like that luckily (still had a few over the years though). Can be really freaking frustrating even if it's only for a short time (which it always was for me). Can't imagine doing it for years etc.

While there are some really bad people to be under, some are really good, as well Its just luck of the draw on which one you get
