Why did they need an excuse?
Because optics still matter. Arbitrarily increasing prices just to line your pockets is what gets you Martin Shkreli'd. Point to some external cause, like a war, a supply chain issue, or the pandemic, and they get free reign to say their hands are tied and put their hats out for as much extra cash as they want. They get 8mplicit permission to gouge as much as they want, because they can throw the blame elsewhere, and most people will just blame the government.

It's not a coincidence profits for a lot of these global corporations doubled to tripled in the EXACT time frame when they were telling us they had no choice but to skyrocket prices "just to keep the lights on"

I suggested inflation was due to companies charging more. They're charging more because they want to and apparently are able to while still making record profits.
And they will still want to no matter how many people are paying back student loans. And because things like food, shelter, and life necessities outweigh nebulous loan money in terms of priority, the only thing we'll see are people defaulting on loans, credit scores tanking, and prices remaining high.

Starving out poor people is not the answer. Getting the obscene dragon hoards out of the hands of billionaires doing fuck-all with it is.

Wut? I said that companies are charging more in the OP
you suggested that companies are charging more due to both inflation, and people having more money than they would if they were paying back loans.

This is not the case. Companies are charging more because they want to.

As opposed to the obvious answer.

The correct answer is yo raise the pay of teachers, and not kill the standard of living for tech people.

Considering the areas people in those jobs need to live, $50k won't even cover a crappy studio apartment.

They make no distinction. None whatsoever.

And CERTAINLY none of their proposed laws have any of that nuance.

If we want to talk about irresponsible parents bringing their kids to strip bars and burlesque shows, drag or otherwise, we can do that. But that is NOT the discussion that the right is currently having.

For an elastic product, lower production costs would result in increased production and lower prices in addition to higher profits.

And that's the part that never happens. Ever.

Usually it's the opposite.

Because we aren't in a consumer focused economy. We're in an investor focused economy where the goal is exceeding last year's profits by as much as you can, every year, and nothing else satisfies.

One where we're about to "efficient" our way out of millions of people being able to afford basic necessities.

The ultimate end goal of efficiency ought to be the complete elimination of the need for human labor altogether. However, under our current systems, that would result in a nightmarish hellscape where millions are left to starve next to mountains of food they can't afford.

10 - Universally beloved, an EA/Activision game being reviewed by a major publication, or a game with a lot of fanboys

9 - probably the actual best score

8 - pretty damn good, with a few flaws or one major flaw

7 - average

2-6 - Raging dumpster fire

1 - Has politics the reviewer doesn't like

What gets me the most is just how popular Cal is as a character.

Like.. he's fine. But he's about as bland, generic, bog-standard a protagonist as you get in the series. The guy has like no personality.

And yet everybody lives him. Everybody's constantly begging for him to cameo in the mandalorian or something. his Jaro Topal lightsaber is one of the most popular in custom saber shops and such. And I just do not get it.

Do you guys think these kinds of tests really test anything? Or do you believe that if you study enough then you can get a really great score?
They absolutely do not. I DID study for it; my parents went all in on one of those profeccional SAT/ACT tutors, and took dozens of practice tests. I promise, I was no smarter between when I scored a 1930 on a practice test, to when I got a near perfect 2350.

Half the test is finishing within the time limit. The writing portion is a total crapshoot, if you're able to write even a basic high school essay. English, the biggest limiting factor was memorizing a small dictionary of obscure vocabulary words that you promptly never use or read again.

I'd say if you struggle at the 10th grade level, you're gonna have a rough time. If you don't, it's just a matter of gaming the test until everything aligns just right.

I feel like "Karen" as a term has transcended itself, at this point. By now it refers to an attitude/mentality far more than it refers to women or physical traits.

It's like "boomer:" more the attitude than the specific age demographic. Hell, from the very beginning, I'm pretty sure "Ok boomer" has been said to more Gen Xers than real boomers, any day of the week.

Also worth noting that in 2016, there was no "bringing back the summer games every year." They explicitly marketed it as "get it now before its gone forever." A move they did on purpose.
