I feel like Spiderman is what Arkham City could have been if it had been able to be made a decade later. A lot of Arkham's deficits are a product of when it was made.

I do say that I think the Arkham series blows spiderman out of the water when it comes to visual aesthetic. Not graphical quality, mind you, but aesthetic. They really captured that gritty, Gothic, Victorian night look that is quintessential Batman. Spiderman is a gorgeous game, but... new York is new York.

Anyone who DOESN'T see it as a conflict of interest either has serious brain worms, or is being seriously willfully ignorant. Possibly both.

Seems like an OK fan-made skateboarding platformer running on a gameboy emulator. Played two levels. , then stopped. Some of the... "writing" gives me reason to believe there's probably some sort of disturbing punchline if you get further in. But I'm not playing the whole game to find out.

Tails also regularly uses the guide feedback system to harass me.

For those of you who are unaware, it's a system for sending messages to an author. When you're on a guide, you get a prompt of "was this guide helpful" and whether you say yes or no, you get a little text window to send a message about it.

It's a system that's completely between the commenter and the author. No one else will see it. It's also anonymous and unmoderated, so Tails can use it to say whatever he wants to me and all I can do is delete the message afterwards, and that's it.

Of course I'm not deleting any of his messages, because I get the odd feeling having a collection of them might come in handy someday as evidence.

That's kinda the problem really. At first it's suggested that the Sith are evil because they're ambitious and do what they want without cult-like regard for Jedi authority. I see nothing wrong with that. If anything, that makes the Sith closer to the good guys than the Jedi could ever be.

But then it's also shown that the Dark side just turns you evil and insane as well. At that point you don't even really seem to be fully in control of your actions. You just do a complete 180 on any morals you once had.

Honestly, the problem is the power differential. The dark side isn't just "I can use my power to shape the world around me," it's "I can use my power to shape the world around me, and absolutely nobody and nothing can stop me."

The jedi are overly suppressive, to the point of killing basic humanity in a person. And it's because they live in fear of their power.

And while they're vlearly wrong for doing so... it's hard to blame them. Star Wars is literally just a manifesto of what hoes wrong if just ONE of these super-powered space wizards decides to go rogue. Just one. Of course the Jedi take the nuclear option of killing one's drive to do so. It's wrong, but holy shit. If yhere's one thing Disney era star wars has done right, its show off how helpless normal people are against even a single force user. Look at the S2 finale of the Mandalorian for a showcase of how stupidly outclassed even an elite team of fucking mandalorians, elite shock troopers, and Assassins are.

In the manga they don't get married, Ranma still doesn't get cured, and they don't really confess that they love each other. There is still an out to change everything back to the status quo. That's what I mean by open ended.

Compare it to something like Kimagure Orange Road, where there was a definite ending, and yet the writer managed to continue it in sequel series well into their adulthood. (And now I'm depressed because Izumi Matsumoto died back in 2020).

I mean, not really. Yeah, we don't directly "see" any of those events happening, but the very last panels all very clearly say that the delay to the wedding was only a very short one. They chose to close with the planned ceremony going belly-up due to the usual character-groyp hijinks, which tbh is much more tonally fitting for the series as we saw it. We got the emotional payoff moments with the Jusenkyo arc just before. So we get the trademark comedy to see us out

He in fact did not. In the original anime, maybe, but in the manga, kai, every video game (save Legacy of Goku 2, which was full of OG Anime-isms), it was just a regular-ass ki blast

their own money IS tax money. Every dime that goes through them is taxpayer money. You can't "have them pay with their own money" AND have it not be taxpayers money. Whether the cop gets paid or not, it will always be the public, the wronged party, paying for the police's fuckups.

I don't want private police either.But the conceit of this topic is "its fucked up that tax money is used for police settlements." And the response is "unless we go with private police, it always will be."

I understand that, but the fact remains that it's still the taxpaying public funding the payment for police fuckups. Doesn't matter what specific pool gets pulled from. It's the nature of the beast with a publicly funded institution.

All told, its surprising that the Big Bang Attack is so often treated as the guy's "signature," considering to this day he's used it exactly once, against a trash side-villain, at that.
