Oddly, this didn't particularly grab me. Madonna has had a ton of singles over the years that I think I've generally enjoyed. My touchstone for her is The Immaculate Collection, a greatest hits album from 1990.

I have to ask, is this considered her "best" album?

I finished all 3 cups on Beginner with the Blue Falcon. It's a tough, annoying game that's not too bad other than the last stage on King League, Fire Field. That was the only one I need to save state after a lap because there was no fucking way I was getting it done otherwise. The "lap traffic" cars are just the bane of my fucking existence.

Needless to say, X and GX are far, FAR superior games.

This was a fucking weird ass album and one I did not care to listen to more than twice. If I call Lovestory "my kind of bullshit" this is the opposite end of the spectrum and decidedly NOT my kind of bullshit. Desert Search was okay but most of the rest of this was meh at best. The fucking ASMR-ness of the end of Violenza Domestica, the one that keeping swelling at the very end like it's 2001: A Space Odyssey, whatever the fuck The Bends was, actually making me rank Noises; this album was odd and all over the place, but not in ways I enjoyed. I needed a musical chaser every time I finished this.

Okay, so I started Scott Pilgrim, and, uh, hmm. The controls seem kind of finicky, which is really not good for a beat 'em up. Weapon usage is pretty critical in this game, or it seemed so from the start, and you have to be in specific, tiny window in order to pick it up, which seems mindboggling for a game from what, 2010 or so? I'm also not a fan of how the start of seemingly every encounter has some opponent be super aggresive, the high rate of knockdown and slow recovery not helping.

I looked up some info online for the shops because I had no idea wtf the money was supposed to be used for. Also, fuck that noise about not showing you what each item does! Basically I need to get to $505 to be able to buy decent stat upgrades. Ugh...

I got to level 2 and died at the boss (had no extra guys) and then I continued and now I have full lives again but will have to do Stage 2 again. And that's when I shut the game off because I'm really not sure I want to grind away on a mediocre brawler. Still some time left in the month but...I dunno.

I liked the DLC for Alan Wake more than the regular campaign. I also thought American Nightmare (shorter XBLA release) was in many ways also a better experience because it was half (or maybe a third) of the length but still managed to capture a lot of what was interesting about Alan Wake.

Half Life 2 beated!

Does it hold up? Yes for the most part and certainly better than the original/Black Mesa. There's just a lot of fun characters (Dr Grigori, Dog, etc.) and moments (shooting buzz saws, using the Ant Lions, super gravity gun). The weapons feel good (aside from the assault rifle). You feel like you go on a journey, I enjoyed the story telling, there's a good amount of variety, and enough changes of pace to keep things interesting. Is it as good as I remember.......no, probably not, but then again what truly is.

I know you're not being super serious about it, but there's a 0% chance ANY constitutional amendment gets passed in this country's partisan environment. Has to pass a 2/3rds vote from both the Senate and House and then be passed by 3/4ths of State legislatures. It could be the "All dogs are good boys" amendment and Rs would shut it down if the Ds put it up.

I mean, these could ALL stick, he could go to prison, win the primary from prison, win the fucking election, and pardon himself. There's still the state charges but by that point...fuck, I don't even know what would happen.

This is not an official nomination (yet) but I was planning on putting up Episode 1 next. It's a step back but Episode 2 is really great and you've obviously got to play them in order. I already got Portal and Portal 2 covered via Replay club. Oh, and OG Half Life (okay Black Mesa...) a few months back.

Not sure I'm capable of Alyx. I've got the PC for it now but I don't have a headset. Also I'm not sure me and moving in VR are compatible, so it's a lot of money to spend on something that may be a complete waste.

This is a very good album. In many ways my feelings about it are very similar to Ziggy Stardust, another rock classic that I hadn't heard in full before we covered it; I was surprised by the first listen and then I enjoyed it even more on subsequent listens. I'm still not a big fan of the title track, and I think that can color your expectations of an album that is generally more fun and playful than the initial song lets on.

I've been playing through Half Life 2. I think it's been over a decade since I last played it!

Got a fancy new PC with an ultrawide OLED monitor and I was actually getting a little nausea during the hovercraft part. I'm gonna blame it on something about that section though, as I've not experienced an issue anywhere else (thankfully).

I'm about half-ish way through. Up to the bit where you're keeping off the sand.

That answers a question I had. After doing a 2nd listen I was like "oh...this is kind of really good" and that got me wondering, based on your statement that you've got 3 above this, how high you have these albums ranked.

I've got D+ as part of the bundle (via Verizon) so this shouldn't affect me.

But on a more general level, all these increases are going to do is make me want to switch between services and binge on each for a month. D+ in particular is going to be prone to this because they don't have the sports that ESPN+, Peacock, and Paramount+ do that can keep people subscribed more long term.

I don't think this is the board for that? And I say that as someone who participates in Rank the Tracks and Rank the Albums, but is otherwise not super music oriented. Starting with the 60s and prior also wouldn't help the situation. Most of nominated albums we've done are 80s and especially 90s and 00s, as you might expect.

How would it even work logistically? Ask for nominations? Just use the top 64 songs from Billboard?

Under Newsom, has the economy of California gone up or down? Just getting back to the "it's the economy, stupid" idea of electability, if the state has done well under his stewardship, then you run on that. California by itself is one of the biggest economies in the world!

Of course. At the same time, I've never seen so many "actually 64 doesn't hold up" topics/posts in the last 6 months. Yet people still vote for it but don't for BotW despite opinions also turning on that game as well.

I think this comes down to a very small voting pool that's sick of Zelda always winning and wanted CT to get an ultimate victory they've always wanted it to have. Not an unexpected result but some of the earlier and down ballot votes were silly.

MMX being runner up in the side bracket was nonsense but it's easier to manipulate poll voting than post voting.

Anyway that's a lot of useless ranting for something like this. Tremendous job running it and managing to get it all done so quickly! When does the Character Battle start ;)?
