I'm excited to see Hasan, Franken and Kal Penn. Franken because he wrote Weekend Update for years on old, biting SNL in the 70s and 80s, plus he has the Washington insider experience. Penn worked for the White House under Obama, so I'm really curious to see what he brings to the table, too.

My favorite King Shark story - Minerva was given an assignment by the Queen to scout a potential Society incursion on the Antarctic ice shelf. Tagging along was King Shark, and the pair discovered a survivor of a Society submarine crash, not-so-freezing but certainly starving as she bided her time. This was a villain named Hot Take. Ultimately, the pair knocked her out on Minerva's instructions to return Hot Take to ZZ for interrogation. Along the way, they also began to have a real heart-to-heart, where Minerva was baring her soul to Nanaue. It was such a tender moment... until Minerva smelled literal blood in the water and discovered that during her entire monologue, King Shark had dismembered Hot Take (who was a lava-based villain) and had started eating her. He found her spicy.

Don't worry about it. I probably didn't need to be an ass - sometimes you just reach critical mass and have to let a comment out.

Oliver is hugely different IMO because his comedy often feels separate from the activism of his show. There's great dissection of journalism there, and it's really just buttressed by humor around the edges. I probably am not describing it well, you know? But I've always felt John Oliver perfected the formula Jon Stewart pioneered on the Daily Show. The problem with guys like current Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, etc., is that they either do funny or they do "serious heartfelt" but it's always super-reactionary. Probably the ultimate difference is the weekly vs. daily format allowing for something with a little more insight.

Anyways, I actually tuned in for the first time in a while to check out Sarah Silverman's episodes - I felt she was pretty heavy on the fluff, but I might just be spoiled by having transitioned to John Oliver years ago. I might try to go back and check out some previous hosts.

There was a lot of bold ambition in this movie, and some great set pieces sprinkled throughout. And between those pieces, the movie did not know what to do with itself at all. I honestly don't know how to be constructive about the movie other than to say that it was amateur hour held up by some memorable moments here and there. Thank god they have a charismatic lead like Rudd and a phenomenal villain like Majors. Everything else was sloppy as hell - characters getting no introduction, characters getting no meat to chew off the bone, events occurring without any real baseline for what the subatomic universe is...

I say this as someone who is NOT a good writer and knows it. That movie could have done with a huge rewrite.

Also, did anyone else find the actress playing Stature to be pretty... awful? Like, she seemed to be laughing through every scene.

All of that is to say, it actually might be my lowest rated MCU movie since Age of Ultron.

Pervasive negativity - which has proven to be your general tenor in most threads I encounter you - usually is.

Always good to learn which users to give just THAT much less credence to.

I would hardly call FF12 ambient. It's a true orchestrated score. I find it excellent for studying or working.

There was an event called Our Worlds at War back in the early aughts - really Superman heavy. It's a bombastic story that involved Apokolips traveling across the universe and Darkseid, Brainiac and Lex Luthor teaming up WITH SUPERMAN to stop a universal threat called Imperiex. It's great popcorn fare. This is a brief plot point from its ending, but, like I said, it never came up again.

This was a HUGE moment in comics that never was followed up on, so I was really happy to give that moment purpose.

There is a very specific reason Darkseid has decided to create Furies out of Earth's heroines, but I'm not sure the party has extrapolated that just yet, so I don't want to spoil it.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, War has it right. It's about Wonder Woman - a character that Darkseid has decided is perhaps is most notable foe on Earth. He despises her.

Actually, they found portions of the lens that had been broken out of Deadshot's mask.

What makes Deadshot really click with people, I think, is that he otherwise doesn't give a damn. He wouldn't mind dying, if the opportunity arose. He knows what caliber of scum he's proven himself to be, and he hates himself for it.

I suspect at some point, the party will lean into the Secret Six's storyline a little more, and Ragdoll will end up being far more plot relevant.

Checkmate is desperate to make sure they don't lose the valuable commodity of an ancillary teleporter, even if he is rather unreliable in comparison to Snapper.

Susie recently revealed that she has been "learning" from Bobo Bennetti as well, which is probably the one teacher she actually isn't learning from at all. She's terrible at boxing, as evidenced by Rosetta's poor nose.

I think you're mischaracterizing some things, Wickle. I certainly wasn't threatening anything! There just had not been any posts in several days, and since the Kid is a weekly event, I wanted to confirm if people were finished or not.

I also wouldn't say things are ruined for Minerva with the Kid at all. He left for several reasons, including giving space to the Valors so they could enjoy their reunion in peace.

I have a session here soon, but I'll talk about my favorite summons on my ranking list. Promise.

I think one of the largest issues with the MCU in Phase 4 was not knowing when to make a movie a mini and a mini a movie. Eternals was definitely a film where the crime was shoving far too much material into too little a space - and the upshot was a lot of flimsy characters as a result, many of whom, had they time to breathe and develop, would have really shone.

The cinematography was great, the basic conceit was strong, and I think this is the ONE time Marvel could have gone with a seasonal format and actually succeeded. Hell, House of the Dragon's time-jumping chapter format would have been absolutely perfect for Eternals! Instead, we got Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, Falcon and Soldier, etc., all of which would have been best served as a film.

Occasionally, Vostok lets out her negative form, as well, and that quasi-matter woman might actually be less judgmental than the original.

I figured you'd like that, UE. Wizard Magazine used to outsource these little Dream Battle matches back when it still was published to top artists for relevant titles of the time. This was one of my favorites.

Part of it is in Enchantress' scarf and it enjoys threatening people and stealing things. It's called Stitchentyme.

Pixie has recently recruited Saoirse's soul, Stichentyme, as well as the most popular goat, Maadison, to her team. So the ranks are swelling!

Pixie was initially based on Elizabeth Darcy from Pride and Prejudice and Mary Crawley from Downton Abbey. Of course, she's evolved over time - and she's also suffered the loss of her dear Osgood thanks to the foul Society member called Hatchet, who shot Osgood dead. She's been eating a lot of Dog-Choc cake from the Auto-Chef as a result of that. Pixie is a little more this picture these days:

I absolutely am all on-board for different endings, but it wasn't over-the-top; it was nonsensical. The post-final boss cutscenes were very intriguing, but that fight and its lead-up? Not so much.

I adored this game until the utterly nonsensical ending which really killed my interest in it stone dead. So I'll be curious to see what you think of that back chapter.

Rex and Dawn are also forming a blooming relationship now that Rex has taken a sabbatical from his doctoral work to spend time in the spring. Data 7 arranged for his shaman friend to tend to his father, trusting in her spiritual healing more than the Spirit-ual healing in the medbay...

I feel a good confrontation scene coming on there.

Also, Dawn paints Rex's face with berry juices, and I think the image of that is extremely amusing.
