This is the second time in the last couple of years I have argued Rosetta Stoned is overrated among fellow Tool fans and... listened to it again and thought "you bastards are right, I should stop denying that song its greatness." I still agree with what I said though, I just underemphasized its greatness a little bit. There's too many people out there that seem to consider it in the same pantheon as Third Eye, Reflection, Lateralus, Wings for Marie Pt 2, (now I would add) Descending - all of their very best. I can't get on board with it.

Almost want to say fuck it and put it above Intension on my list, but I can't do it. That was the first Tool song I learned on guitar and it's basically the Disposition of this album and Disposition rules. But yeah, the part Steiner is talking about is what makes the whole song.

I use Ratchet & Clank as my benchmark for why these thing blow and aren't harmless.

R&C used to have in-game achievements in the PS2 days that unlocked secrets and cheats and bonuses, and it was fucking rad.

That stuff is gone now with modern R&C because it's just trophies.

So that's a case where trophies and the like have actually negatively impacted a game. Not something you can ignore.

Next you're going to tell me Pokemon Scarlet and Violet wouldn't look objectively better with fewer graphical glitches, a higher resolution, and better framerate...

Oh man, strongly disagree about the characters in House of Ashes. Jason and Salim were fine, but I HATED Eric and Rachel. I felt like I was stuck in the backseat with a couple who wouldn't stop sniping at each other and I desperately just wanted to open the door and jump out the car. Also I'm not sure what it was but the characters looked straight up ugly to me. Particularly the female character models looked very uncanny valley level visuals to me for some reason.

They've just never been able to get anywhere close to Until Dawn for me. That cast was just straight up tropes, but they were fun at least. I keep playing these games (and I'm going to get The Devil In Me) but my hope is getting less and less the further I get in.
