This is fair. I'm sure amateur writers can do a lot better with that concept than whatever drunkard writes the actual games.

I liked it a lot even hearing the hype beforehand, but I think it didn't totally blow me away because a lot of the multiverse tricks weren't new to me. The emotional hits were great though.

I also didn't like the hot dogs the first 5-6 times, but by the end it worked for me. You gotta respect the sheer determination to make the bit land.

ZE is probably better overall depending on how much you like like time travel gimmicks (I love them) but AA is undeniably better written. DR on the other hand has absolutely nothing going for it. Except for Improved Hangman's Gambit

In general I've found that White Queen neuters practically any Galactus strat

Kitty & Beast synergy is thematic too.

She still needs to be played, so there's lots of ways she can be countered. I wonder if the hand limit will hurt her too, since you can only have 7 cards. I suppose you can return and repeat each one in a row, so you only need 1 empty slot in your hand?

Bar Sinister will be great too.

Speaking of Kitty, she seems like a great alternative to Sunspot. Let's say Sunspot gets on average around 6 total power for 6 energy. Kitty would only need 3 energy across 3 turns to match that. Plus she can move which is really powerful. But she can't not move, which is a big advantage for Sunspot on blocked locations. Seems pretty balanced overall.

And you can't fully pass a turn for She-Hulk/Infinaut. Still, I hope she's strong enough in most every other case that she ends up being the default pick. Then if you see a Sunspot you know it's likely a She-Hulk/Infinaut deck.

One issue could be that you need moving to readable, and a special move anim would obscure it. I'm really curious what they'll do with Kitty since she's technically being played again.

Just keep bouncing between 54 and 57. For some reason I just never get bot matches anymore. I've had 1 that I can remember over the last 2 days and that was after a losing streak so presumably a pity match

If you lose an 8 cube you almost always get a pity match after. At least in the upper 40s.

Galacturd snapped AFTER I played White Queen. I played a Hulk left on turn 4 after his Wave and he Shang'd it so he was prob feeling good. But still it's obvious I would've won.

Unless I guess he had another 6 cost in his hand?

I noticed bots don't know how to play Quantum Tunnel at all either. One played Green Goblin on his side 3 time and it never worked.

I've also been thinking about this concept of a Hero deck and a Villain deck.

The Villain has some sort of evil combo they're trying to hit. Moon Dino, Shuri Skull, Wong Exodia, Lockjaw Leech. They have 1 really clear gameplan and maybe 1 decent backup. Very draw dependent. Wins are more one note and predictable.

The Hero on the other hand is trying to disrupt the plan. They have tech cards, movers, and other disrupters like Sandman. Leaning more towards good cards that have a lot of flexibility. Each win is more hard fought and unique.

Hero vs Hero is fun, Hero vs Villain is really fun, but Villain vs Villain sucks. Villain vs Hero can also suck if they have that one tech that blocks you. So I really just want to play my Hero deck all the time. All the Villain ones I've tried are just meh. But I appreciate that others play them because it makes my game more fun

I wonder if I actually have a legit shot at getting to infinite even though I'm handicapped card wise by a lot. I had set a goal of at least 60 for this season but possibly 70. Now after going 20 > 55 so quickly I think 70 may be selling myself short. Although it's obviously going to get harder and harder the higher I climb.

This 5 rank bonus is hard to understate. It literally HALVES the amount of cubes you need to get to infinite. The effort to get from 10-20 is about the same as getting up to 45.

I have been complaining about this 30+ rank drop every season and this does solve it pretty well. The 30 rank drop is now more like 15 effectively, and you get a big satisfaction of climbing dozens of ranks quickly.

I do think it will devalue the higher ranks. Like getting to 70 is not nearly as big a deal anymore. But that's ok because even the game devalues it, you get like 400 creds and that's it.

I've only played AA1.

1-1 through 1-4 are absolutely perfect. Probably the best writing in any VN ever (especially localization), and excellent puzzle design too. Every second is gripping and it uses the mechanics so well.

1-5 however is one of the worst things you can play. It has literally every single VN problem that you can think of: dry, stretched out, gimmicky, awkward writing. I think it takes 2x as long to finish as the first 4 cases do combined.

I only discovered later that it was made years later for the DS specifically. But even so, it's mind blowing that they put something of that quality next to the original cases.

This is also why I've only played AA1.

Just pulled Magneto finally! I've got so many new cards recently, I should try some more decks.

For now I brought out the Zuri deck again since I paid a lot for her so might as well use her before the nerf.

I don't really see what he does better than Zero. There aren't THAT many negative ongoing cards, so he's really only helping you play both Typhoid and Red Skull at the same time.

Double Sera using White Queen and Rogue. 3 cost Hulk on turn 7 with Titan too!

Dude was probably so happy to see Limbo come up randomly when playing a Sera deck, and he ended up with nothing.

How does 3 nimrods with galactus work? The left one is destroyed, which puts one mid and one right. Then the mid is destroyed, which puts another right. Where's the 3rd?

Bots can definitely have it. But yeah at this point you should be skeptical of any empty lane when the opponent has enough energy to play Galactus. It's pretty easy to counter-play if you're aware.

Some people do really great disguised decks though. I saw one that was a really obvious move deck, to make you avoid playing left, then he played Galactus left.

Obviously it's reMAKE, not REmake...

But Ermine nailed it with the idea of first time experience. For a game to truly be replayed, you need to replay all the original emotions too, it's not just seeing the graphics and hearing the dialogue. The only way to do that for such a classic game is to change things and create surprise.

The best analogy is Star Wars 7. Everyone complained that it was a copy of 4, which it was, because the whole point was to copy the full experience of 4, including the surprise and mystery. So its only option was to do basically the same as 4 but with some tweaks. Of course there's a nostalgic element, but that's not nearly as strong as truly feeling something new.

This is basically where I'm at. Like Star Wars 7, it all rested upon the sequels, which ended up terrible, retroactively ruining 7. You can easily see where the KH writing comes in with the new stuff in this game, so it's easy to be worried.

However, you can also see extremely good writing in the added details and nuances to the classic characters and scenes. It's really only the brand new plot stuff that fell flat. They left the door wide open to keep people hyped for 3+ years, but it's probably gonna be a near copy again until some KH bullshit at the end. The formula just proved too effective.

I am really bad with oil changes for my Hyundai. I drive it at least 6-7k between changes, usually more. The engine often burns oil around then and starts vibrating like it's grinding itself down, or stuck on some thick gunk. After I put a few quarts of oil in there it gets better. Then I keep driving it until it happens again. At some point I'll remember to do an oil change and it's smooth for a few months. I've been doing this for around 60k miles.

And still my engine never failed. Americans cars are absolute garbage.

I dunno what you would call it, but that's what I mean by stepping back and taking a look. You're self-imposing a frustrating challenge (using an empirically shitty Destroy deck) and want to take it out on your opponents who did absolutely nothing, instead of just using a better deck.

Take a step back and look at your relationship with this game if you're feeling that

In other words, if you want try hard toxic competitiveness, play CS or LoL or something, not the 3-minute card game optimized for on-toilet gameplay, where even the most solid strategy has 25%+ variance

Put all rank floor people in a special queue where you have to Battle Mode another rank floor person and the one who wins gets +1 rank. It's the only way to escape the rank floor.

The 35+ rank drop each season is still so terrible. At least make it a straight 30 drop.

Sentry seem fine honestly? He's a buffed up Hood. With Carnage he can effectively be a 4/10, with Viper a 4/16. I never played destruction or "bad cards" style decks though.

Like I want to try Goblin on 3, Shuri on 4, Hobgoblin on 5, Sentry + Viper on 6.
