In spite of it's notoriety for mature content at the time, GTA: Vice City kept its cursing on a PG-13 level; F-bombs weren't present until San Andreas. However, there was a single F-Bomb you could find in VC, written on a poster in Phil Cassidy's trailer (can't remember the exact wording; haven't played the game in over a decade and google isn't being helpful).

I give it even odds they just skip that part. It would be annoying for a live-action show, particularly if he's as shirtless as he typically is. Maybe the ashes just leave a mark on his chest or something.

One of the cops in Criminal Minds is named Gideon. There's also an AI in Legends of Tomorrow called Gideon.

This is probably the right move on Gunn's part. Just make a clean break of the complete mess that it was beforehand, come up with an entirely new universe.

The only faction restriction they ever had was paladin for Alliance and shaman for Horde. That went away in Burning Crusade.

Most roguelikes I've played don't have AI-generated levels. There are rooms that were clearly built by a dev, the game just randomly decides which one you're going into next. I suppose you could say that's AI-designed, but it's really just a glorified random number generator.

The game also does this old outdated thing of forcing you through tunnels, or an automated climbing section to mask loading screens or spill out exposition and dialogue. Part me believes this is the fault of the PS4 version. Regardless I wish this design would die off now.

This was very much built to be a PS4 game is why.

While I think it's plausible that that stuff was meant to just be a red herring, it also could be evidence that this was originally meant to be a trilogy.

That's the two games' shtick of a lot of Norse mythology being bullshit Aesir propaganda. Some of the Aesir call him trickster just because he's there to spy on them.

And yeah, I personally don't agree with the idea that the prophecy was fulfilled just misinterpreted. I think the Norns lay out the idea of the game's theme pretty firmly. Kratos, Atreus, and maybe even Freya change their fate by making choices that they normally would not have. Kratos chooses not to kill Thor, Atreus chooses not to wear the mask, Freya chooses not to kill Odin.

Oh, I understand the parallels with Kratos. It's the fact that the alcoholism is treated very realistically that kinda pulled me out of it.

That's not what really happened though. It's like the Norns said: there's no fate, people are just predictable because they don't change. Kratos changed, so the prophecy did too.

The alternative interpretation is that the prophecy was fulfilled exactly, the Giants just misinterpreted it. They saw a big god of war with a spear, they thought it was Tyr. They saw Loki holding a dying man with a beard, they thought it was his father, but it was Odin.

...that when you find Thor in that bar and Thrud gives him shit, I had kind of an out of body experience where I thought, "This is a story about a daughter emotionally pleading against her father's alcoholism in a game series that once opened with a QTE of you fucking two women on a boat."

I won't stand for this revisionist history, the pre-Norse games have good stories. They're a different genre of story, but they're still great. And they have a lot more nuance than most similar games from that time period.

There's nothing really about his motives that wouldn't happen in the real world. He's just a psychopathic racist with the charisma to get followers among other racists.

GoW: Ragnarok has a nice little side story for most of its side quests. The ones that don't have one are typically in the same area as the bigger ones, so you can do them all at the same time.

My favorite theory is that Wario likes being the anti-Mario so much that he hired Waluigi to be the anti-Luigi.

World of Warcraft is run by invisible rabbits. NPCs already have the ability to do most of the things that need to be done in the game. So if a boss spawns a laser turret, that turret is actually an invisible rabbit "casting" the laser spell. If you want a quest objective that's not killing something like picking up an item, performing that action spawns and kills an invisible rabbit that ups your quest completion.

I imagine they'll do flashbacks, but it still seems like a weird starting choice. The games can get away with it because God of War is such a big series. Even people who never played it knew the general gist of Kratos being Bigmad: The Man and killing the Olympians. A TV show needs to aim for a broader market which means a lot of people won't know who he is.

Like the scene where he retrieves the Blades of Chaos won't have nearly the same impact.
