I also wanted to stay longer than undergrad, and did! haha.
but, after the initial 4-5 years, everyone I knew graduated and left and the town just started reminding me of all the fun time I wasnt having anymore. Im definitely ready to leave that late-teen/early-twenties vibe here and start something new. Decidedly less youthful, but not necessarily bad or boring.

This whole city is built around the university though, so its kind of unavoidable unlike some schools in more urban areas.

I saw the first episode and it was surprisingly good! The kids are iffy but hopefully they grow on me

Got here in 2014. Graduated in 2018. Graduated from my masters program in 2021. Waited for my SO to graduate in 2022, and Im the meantime got a boring office job. Now after 20 months of looking for a real job, I am leaving. SO and I signed a lease on an apartment we never visited, and were packing up and leaving tomorrow morning.

I hung out with my last remaining friend (still in his PhD program) last night. 27 isnt old but in a town where the average person you see is 21 it sure felt like it was time to move on lol. Still, I hope I get to see my college friends occasionally. Even after graduation, we all stayed in Texas and have hung out 1-3 times a year. Im moving one state out, but Ill also be making more money so hopefully more travel!

Anyway idk. Feeling bittersweet. Definitely seems like a ton of my colleagues have already built their lives. Have houses, been married, have LinkedIns, travel the world, have kids. Im only now starting a real career <_< glad Im moving on with my life but feeling like Im five years behind where I should be.

Feels very *final* but its really not lol Ill be back here next year for my SOs siblings graduation. And every year a group I was in has a reunion, so I might come to that if I hear some friends are also dropping in. Maybe come see a football game or something.

i will say that I really liked in college that I would get all my money (from scholarships, grants, whatever) for the semester given to me a week before classes started, and then I had to make sure that lasted until the start of the next semester. Having a set amount of money in August and knowing thats all I would have until January made me more careful about my spending habits for sure. Now that my bank account grows every two weeks I definitely find myself spending more on luxuries because Im only ever a few days away from payday.

I never liked R&M, but I did like Solar Opposites. Oh well, I guess.

Saw the season 2 premier this morning.

it was, uh. Not great? Tons of little things added up to me not caring about the episode very much. Hopefully itll get better as the season goes on, though! There were a lot of little things that I enjoyed, but the actual events of the episode were boring.

i wasnt around for the original airings though. I wouldnt be born for another 5 years so there were a few seasons of each on reruns, which probably had an impact.

I really really enjoyed it. There were some issues I had with it for sure, but I thought it was definitely the best first season of a Trek show. If the rest of it is as good as S1, it could easily end up being my second fav of the franchise. Maybe even my first.

I really wish I had watched this as it was airing so I could be part of the discussion and weekly theorizing. Im hoping I can watch the rest before Season 5 starts later this year but I might not have the time.

My mom was orphaned in Mexico at age 2 when her parents died. She was adopted by an American family but no idea if the orphanage had any records of who her parents were, or if is still even operational.

And my paternal grandma was a teen runaway. My dads dad left before my dad was born. Grandma has never talked about either of her parents or my grandfather to any of her kids, afaik.

Yeah they announced recently that to celebrate 40 years as a band they were calling it quits with an all out 40-concert tour in which they play a unique set of 40 songs.
