3. Columbo makes a scene of exhuming the body with the husband so the killer, a CEO of a private eye firm, tries to come over because his best private eye is following them and Columbo knows
4. Columbo lies to him that the exhumers found the right eye had lost its contact
5. Killer has to break into the car shop where his car is being 'repaired' overnight
6. Columbo is waiting for him to find a fake contact he placed to extract a confession

The tribe is not a universal unit, and regardless, human storytelling is FILLED with guys killing a member of the family/tribe for "the greater good of the family", etc.

I do not understand why people speak of this channel in such reverent tones when nearly all of his videos are these "look at everything cool in old game they didn't do in new game" jerkoff fests.

The videos are literally curated with only details to make you upset. Watching them alone you would think every game made today plays far worse than every game made [when you were a child] and that the console also punches you in the face if you try to turn it on.

And even if you take these compilations at face value and concede his conclusions... what does it matter? Except to help you feel vindicated that everything in the world sucks now but it was awesome 15 years ago when half of people in the US didn't even have the internet infrastructure to play games online.

i stopped watching these a while ago and anytime somebody says "you gotta watch this video!" I ask for a transcript. Because 99.9% of the time the *video* portion is irrelevant anyway. People apparently mostly just use these as background noise while they play a game or something.

I doubt he literally had his heart punctured (correct em if I'm wrong) and it's not impossible for someone in an extremely warped state of mind like he is to not respond to pain like that, there's a reason different people in the force may carry guns with higher caliber for stopping power. Yes he has some extraordinary feats but he is defeatable and there is some logic to all the events and people can get away from him. He's a guy at peak condition who's hard to stop but he's not a demon.

In the sequels I'm sure he becomes supernatural as things get more outlandish

I've only seen the original Halloween where he is definitely not supernatural, he gets owned relatively easily.

It's a reflection exercise where I was supposed to ask people to give me positive feedback with concrete examples about things like leadership. I didn't do it for whatever reason (laziness perhaps or fear of reaching out) so now I'm just imagining what some of these people might have said about me and writing that. Pretty strange experience to then 'derive' conclusions from that 'feedback'. Based on a group chat and what I've heard a lot of others in the class are doing the same thing because people didn't respond in time or whatever reasons.

Oh well I didn't figure it was literally that cartoonish

Note that for a civil suit it's not like you have to prove all of these charges or none. Libel is offered if the jury finds evidence is strong enough for that but it's perfectly valid for the jury to find no libel but find tortious interference or slander.

Lot of armchair attorneys in this thread but looking at Oved & Oved's (crack boutique NY firm) history they clearly have some kind of plan here and are extremely competent. I really doubt they'd have taken this case for Hans if they don't believe they can get a settlement. Hans definitely does not have the money to make this case worth it with attorney's fees alone from an opportunity cost perspective.

Based on my reading this case is really about the actions allegedly taken by Chess.com and Play Magnus which are co-defendents to Carlsen. It's not just the tweets and resignations.

I don't know why but something about this just turns me off immediately. I hope it's good though. I played through SH2 a couple of years ago and it's still great.

It's taking a moment that's short and understated in the original, that is nonetheless iconic. And turning that into a more drawn out moment to say "remember this? It's here, in HD! Look!"

At least, that's my worry. I think a strength of the original SH2 is the weight and impact of the characters and James' mental state creep up on the player and you probably don't get the extent of what's going on until towards the end. A risk of this game's direction is instead languishingly spotlighting it because they think that end result is the whole body of Silent Hill 2.

SH2 also has this uncanny effect where the non-A-list acting disarms you and it's like James' performance gets more powerful as the themes of the game are revealed. There's a risk that heavily serious and self exalting direction will also diminish the impact of the game.

I played SoC after Pripyat so I didn't find it to be particularly special or standout.

The opening area of SoC really stands out in my mind. This little shanty town of dudes as it pours rain. I looked out into the open field and saw a pack of dogs chasing something as lightning flashed in the distance and put them in shadow. Just 10/10 environment design.

SoC was one of the most atmospheric games I ever played.

Like... I understand where this is coming from, but the internet space belongs to Sage as much as it does to Caleb. I don't think it's reasonable to chill speech in order to baby victims to prevent them from stumbling upon it. At the very least there are simple alternative measures like content warnings.

The implication that Sage is unhealthy or harmful for exploring fantasies she has is at least as harmful, I'd argue moreso, than the potential of a victim being triggered by them.

This is the same class where I had a melty about a 48 hour live simulation my team got its ass kicked on.
