Well, the safe deadline is past now. Maybe you can still get the 9.62% rate if you try now, but might get shunted to Nov. 1 or later and miss out. Still means a 6.5% rate for the first 6 months, but...no idea what the next rate would be. Still probably better than a savings account.

You can take the money out after a year, you just lose the last 3 months' interest if you take it out before 5 years. But if the interest rate drops to nothing later on, that's hardly a penalty.

Canned tuna is fine, just get the "solid" tuna and not the "chunk light" crap.
And the lemon pepper sounds yuck.

I'm fine w/ canned plain tuna, I usually just put some Maggi sauce (it's like super concentrated soy sauce) on it to give a little flavor and make it less dry.

Sardines are so much better than tuna. Better tasting, better for you, better for the environment.

Why do you think Platinum wouldn't have brought people in on the weekend to deal with the issue if it were a significant threat to the game's sales? A couple hundred bucks of overtime would be made up for by 5 extra sales, which is nothing in the grand scheme of things.
It's really weird to see the "support VA workers' rights!" brigade ask, "why not just have the corporation last-second cancel some of its workers' weekends to deal some stupid twitter shit storm?"
And why didn't they? Maybe because it could wait till Monday? Maybe because they wanted to take some time and put together their official response, an approach the losers on twitter could learn from.

At the very least, a tweet saying "Taylor's claim is inaccurate and misleading, we will provide a formal statement after consulting with our legal department to determine how best to respond" would have been 100% feasible to churn out at any time.
Kamiya said flat out it was lies, and look how that worked out for him.
He was proven right, and people are STILL trying to justify attacking him.
They had time, no reason to rush to give a response. If anything, the only mistake they made was Kamiya responding at all. Rash responses are usually ones you'll regret.

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/18/how-to-get-9point62percent-annual-interest-for-series-i-bonds-before-november.html

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/i-bond-demand-crashes-treasury-website-ahead-of-9-6-rate-deadline/

With the deadline fast approaching, the Treasury Department is opening more I-bond accounts each day than it typically creates in a year, according to an agency official.

After 15 years of oppression by the Federal Reserve, we're finally seeing a return to normalcy. Interest rates are back, and the I Bond is paying an actually good rate.
If you can get your I Bond order processed by Oct 31 (which means purchasing it by today, to be sure it's processed by then), you lock in a 9.62% rate for the first 6 months, and then the next 6 would be roughly 6.5%. Won't know till May what the rate is after that. If you miss the Oct 31 deadline, you miss out on the 9.62% rate.
Needless to say, the Treasury website is getting massively swamped, lol
I got my order in late last night, even well past midnight the site was crashing on me, but nowhere near as bad as during the day.
If you want in and haven't already, well... good luck.

New twitter thread from confirmed liar, Hellena Taylor

https://twitter.com/hellenataylor/status/1584415390171480066

TL;DR: She was initially offered $10K. Asked Kamiya for help, he got the offer up to $15K like the good guy he is (and once again FUCK YOU to the bullies that harassed him on twitter!). She still turned that down (again, that's fine. it's her right to refuse an offer just like it's their right to make a "low" offer). Then after she was out, they offered her a cameo spot, voicing "a few lines" for $4K, which was thus technically the "final offer", but extremely misleading.

Imagine getting a $15,000 offer for ~ 16 hours of work, turning it down, then trying to attack the company that offered it to you later on...because how dare they only offer you nearly $1000/hr!

I mean, if there hadn't been such an outcry, nobody would have bothered digging for the truth. That this instance turned out to be decidedly less objectionable than it seemed at first glance doesn't mean things that are in fact as bad (or worse) than they seem at first glance aren't happening all over the place. I'm all for keeping corporations on the defensive as a matter of general practice, at least when it comes to matters like treating workers properly. Make them earn our trust.

From the very start it didn't add up.
They wanted to penny pinch, so they replaced her w/ one of the biggest VA's in the business, who is also unionized?
She gave an amount, but no context of how many hours the job was to understand how fair or not that offer was.
Instead of speaking about it when the pay dispute happened (when a fan outcry could have gotten her job back), she waits until just before the game releases and calls for a boycott. Seems kinda suspect?

But, that requires critical thinking and at least one functioning brain cell, to not just take salacious claims at face value and go on a tirade about it. Qualities that too many people now are sadly lacking.

Kamiya got bullied off of twitter for a while. People were saying "fuck Platinum Games" and "fuck Nintendo" and really displaying what utter fucking cretins they are. Most of them aren't even humble enough to admit they were wrong, they just want to double down on believing Hellena no matter the evidence to the contrary, and/or continuously shift the goal posts, in a pathetic attempt to save face.

Not to mention the fucking TON of dialog that's in the first 2 games.
By "TON" you mean roughly 16 hours of recording each game, resulting in like 5 hours at most that makes it into the game.
The amount of dialogue in a RPG or VN must really blow your mind if you think Bayonetta games have a TON of dialogue.
For a VA, the Bayonetta games are a relatively small, short job. It's a short game with lengthy combat sections. Literally a one week gig, with short days.

Look at it in terms of regular jobs? Sure. Look at it in terms of the entertainment industry and how much the lead roles make in other media? It's an absolute joke.
Except it's not, it's within the typical union standard for VA wages.

The Bayonetta franchise has grossed $450 million.
That "figure" is complete fucking bull shit.
To make $450 million on sales, not including merchandise (as she clarified), it would need to sell 7.5 million copies at the full $60 price point.
Bayonetta 1 was a sales flop, it probably sold a million eventually but went on discount fast.
Bayonetta 2 I heard sold only 400K copies, b/c it was on the Wii U only.
Not sure what the Switch ports sold, but no way in hell did the Bayonetta franchise make that much money.
I love the series, but it's sadly not that popular and has nearly died multiple times.

In any other medium, the actor behind the titular character would be a millionaire several times over, and quite deservedly so given that the acting behind the character is a major component of the overall style that has drawn so many people to the series. That $4000 is seen as acceptable (and more than that, an industry norm) is utterly ludicrous, as is the idea that the flagship character who has defined the series is seen as so replaceable.
"In any other medium"
This is video games. The VA might be a huge part of it for like... a visual novel.
But for a short action game like Bayonetta? Oh, fuck no. The actual programming of the game, the combat, the QA testing, all sorts of other factors are far more important than the VA.
That $4000 would be for roughly 16 hours of work over 4 days, as Hellena said regarding prior Bayonetta jobs.
That is a fair wage. It's a week of work. You can't live off 1 week of work, it's insane to expect that. She's apparently mainly a theater actress, so I don't know what her income situation is like. But looking at her extremely paltry VA credits, being a VA is clearly not her main career.

The usual response to this is that it's not particularly fair to offer royalties and larger salaries to voice actors when the developers that put more work into the game don't get that, and that's very true. The mistake, however, is using that to justify keeping VA's from being properly compensated instead of using it to demand proper compensation for everyone working on the game.
And yet it's always the fucking VAs that are whining.
You say everyone should be paid more? Then start with those underpaid, overworked developers. They have the worst fucking deal in all of this right now.

There's a good chance they just wanted a bigger name and lowballed Taylor for the sake of driving her out. It's what happened with Keifer Sutherland replacing David Hayter, despite how undeniably essential Hayter's performance was for establishing Snake as a character. Studios like the idea of attaching bigger names to their products for promotional reasons, but in practice it rarely does anything to improve the product (and in many cases actually makes it worse, such as everyone's reaction to Pratt's Mario). Screen actors are not necessarily good voice actors, which is something a whole lot of people don't seem to realize despite making the same mistake and seeing the consequences repeatedly.
Yeah. Which sucks if it's the case (I don't give a shit about an actor's "fame", I'd rather keep the same person that did the job fine all along), but again Platinum is under no obligation to hire her for every game.
The insane frothing rage over this is astounding.
Rockstar forced their team into months of overtime crunch for Red Dead Redemption 2, for example. Which is way worse than giving one person a lowball offer. On a far bigger game/franchise. And ellicited nowhere near this much outcry.

If it is 16 hours, then that's $250/hr, which seems pretty fair.
And again, there's no way in hell Jennifer Hale did it for less than Taylor.

If switching VA was their goal all along, they could've just told Helena they were going in a new direction for the sequel or something. she's not owed a job for every bit of Bayonetta VA work in the future.

Also, didn't she get replaced by Jennifer Hale, who is a far bigger name VA and also part of a union/guild? Either she's lying, or Kamiya oddly offered her (way?) less than he ended up paying out to the replacement anyway, which makes no sense.

Been a long time, maybe it wasn't as rosy as I remember. But I hate Wolverine and can't fucking stand how he's THE main character now. Not sure if that's Hollywood's fault, the comics, or both. It never felt so focused on one ass hole in the cartoon.

I instantly noped out of the X-Men films after the first one, when I saw what they were doing to my boy, Cyclops. Dude may as well have been replaced by a cardboard cutout.
Don't read comics, but I've heard they've done him dirty even worse than the movies in the past several years.
He was always my favorite X-Men character, so it's really sucked.

I never know if it's Marjorie Taylor-Greene or Magic the Gathering anymore smh

Hopefully once her husband finishes divorcing her lying, adultering, hypocritical ass, she'll drop the Greene and said confusion will never happen again.

That's not really their responsibility...

I gave them money, they gave me an education. Fair enough.
They want the fruits of my labor, while doing fuck all to help me attain that labor. So they get nothing. Fair enough. Not my responsibility.
Maybe they shouldn't have touted their "career services" department if they didn't want grads to feel bitter about it being nonexistent.
