Tried the new space jump boots early skip. It's way harder than the old scan jump, I wasnt able to get it

The scan jump was removed for the pal version, which is what used for the trilogy, the ball jump was the replacement, and it was a lot harder.

It's even harder now.

They've already found a new skip for the hive totem now and it sounds really easy, you just stay locked on to a light bug from.the previous room and it over rides the event scripting until you pick up the missile.

That's good to know. Right now though, most of the time I'm simply not in a good position to hit the monster most of the time. That's why the bow was an attractive prospect in the first place. Man, the Rathalos fight was extremely aggravating, with all the ledges in the lava cavern as well as not understanding the patterns at all, and then he flew around all the time... Ugh. And that's the "simple" monster that Arrekz YouTuber guy used as demonstration for all the weapons smh

Well, so my strategy right now is to land that A-A-X combo with the axe, then go into sword and land A combos until the gauge is full. Then just spam X+A into wingbug finisher, and if I run low on gauge do the ZL+A to replenish. Thats pretty much it, using the axe overhead slash to close the distance as much as I can. It does the trick, but I'm sure I could do better things in the shorter windows of the fights etc.

Good swax foundation. You'll build from here as you unlock moves and wire bugs.

Something to keep in mind, while zpd is a lot more viable now than at release, and a LOT of fun, it does less damage over time, than staying on the ground.... Provided you can keep hitting the monster If you stayed on the ground. That does make it useful for keeping uptime if you get a sense of when the monster is going to move about making uptime for other melee weapons difficult if not impossible until it stops prancing about.

The axe overhead is a good lead in, if you need to close a little more distance, like if you stagger or knock down a monster out of range, use a wire bug to cut your swing animation short, and dive on the beastie to close the difference. Takes slightly longer than rolling, but leads in with a huge boost to DOT, and can often flinch or knock down the monster again as it's turning it's attention to you, expanding your uptime.

Also, for every weapon, simply wirebugging In is a fantastic long distance lead in.

It only got a 1 out of 10?

Is it noticably slower than classic/hybrid/pointer schemes?

Because with hybrid and pointer, the fire rate and projectile speed is faster than GameCube. Just holding the fire button performs a three shot burst.

I do feel like it takes a considerably longer period of sustained fire to get the smoking cannon effect though.

Having not even booted it up yet I can't confirm.

I can, it's exactly as described, although with some changes to what people are probably expecting.

Holding down r once again goes into free aim mode, now done by gyro, however you can now still move while free aiming. Lock on will still perform.circle strafing, non. Lock on will be normal strafing with free aim.

L stick is on legacy style forward backward control and turning duty, however you can specifically adjust the L sticks turn speed which makes a massive difference

Ah, that's no fun. Sequence breaking is one of my favorite things to do in MP1. Might consider getting the remaster, anyway, but I'll stick mostly to randomizers with the original release.

It's becoming pretty obvious the 'remaster' isn't just a graphical remake. It's a new version of the game, down to mechanics and physics base.

They obviously remembered to block the old ways but.... Now no guarantees...... But, since the controls mechanics and physics are completely revamped, we may soon be discovering new sequence breaks.

I'd love more focus on tracking... If it were a shorter game. As it stands, I know I've barely scratched the surface and I'm like ten hours in. And that's having used like two weapons!

You're literally learning dang near 20 years of incremental additions and evolutions to monhun in one go.

Once you get the core, you'll get the 'click' and then you'll become like a sponge.

As for what you're talking about, once you feel well off enough, you can remove the map from the screen (going into the plus menu beings it back up).

When you do this, you can literally track down monsters, by going to high places and visually scanning, watching the movements of prey animals (when a monster enters their area, they run away to neighboring areas) following their dropped parts trail (monsters tend to leave behind drops whenever they perform a particular interaction with an area before they move on).

It's a lot of fun. Sometimes I just go on a expedition to an area and do this for multiple monsters.

Typically they are seeking extrinsic gratification, of which botw is pretty weak in, really weak in, as it's very very heavily about gratification from intrinsic motivation.

The game is obviously fantastic, and wons tons of awards, but if the things it got praise for and won awards for, aren't the things you enjoy in a videogame, well. There's not much there for you is there?

Because with the more 'pre stampede' hairstyle, and all the death and dismemberment, and glasses that are too large, it seems like it's a much younger much less skilled vash.

People didn't die around vash because he was ridiculously, impossibly skilled, always detaining with trick shots or other shenanigans at the expense of himself, while making it look like accidents or coincidences.

Once he messed up and got a bad guy good in the guts and was extremely upset with himself.

Having body parts explode out of a doorway like that.... Seems like the kind of failure that would follow and haunt vash, unlike knives.
