I'm just saying they f***ed us all and everything we consume is already contaminated.

I would say we aren't inevitably fucked. There is science going on to find ways to get rid of forever chemicals.

The big takeaway would be to not let history repeat itself which US as a society isn't positioned to stop any corp from doing that but rather promotes it still. We need change and that means the citizens need to be aware and care.

Also more the point here is education and it seems not eating fish you catch yourself probably reduces your risk of cancer pretty significantly which we didn't know till this study.

https://www.psypost.org/2023/01/new-study-finds-libertarians-tend-to-support-reproductive-autonomy-for-men-but-not-for-women-64912

New research provides evidence that libertarians in the United States tend to prioritize mens reproductive autonomy at the expense of womens. The study, published in Political Psychology, found that libertarianism was associated with both opposition to womens right to an abortion and support for mens right to withdraw financial support for a child when women refuse to terminate the pregnancy.

Libertarianism is a political philosophy that centers around the concept that each individual should be free to live their life in whatever way they choose, as long as other peoples rights are respected. Libertarians view the government as nothing more than a tool for protecting peoples fundamental rights; anything beyond this should arguably be done locally and voluntarily by individuals. The authors of the new study sought to investigate how libertarianism translates into attitudes to abortion policy.

Both abortion and libertarianism are concepts that illustrate the divide between abstract, philosophical ideas (e.g., freedom; morality; personhood) and the complexities that arise when you try to translate these abstractions into peoples real, complicated lives, said study author Jocelyn Chalmers, a PhD student and associate lecturer at the University of Kent in Canterbury.
Since no society in our world today follows a strictly libertarian governing model, its easy for libertarianisms subscribers to suggest that prioritizing freedom (or their concept of it) above all else would lead to easy solutions for all of our problems research like this allows us to interrogate that idea by highlighting that freedom is far from a simple concept in practice.

To examine the link between libertarianism and attitudes about womens reproductive autonomy, Chalmers and her colleagues conducted a series of two studies that presented a variety of different questionnaires to participants in a randomized order. The first study included 296 U.S. adults recruited through the online research platform Prolific. The second study sought to replicate the findings in a larger sample of participants recruited from social media. To this end, the researchers recruited an additional sample of 580 U.S. adults.

The researchers found that those who described themselves politically as libertarian were less likely to support a womans right to have an abortion. To assess support for abortion rights, the researchers asked the participants whether they believed it should be possible for a pregnant woman to obtain a legal abortion under seven different circumstances, such as if the family has a very low income and cannot afford any more children.

Libertarians were also more supportive of mens right to deny their partners abortions and to remove their financial support for unwanted children. In other words, they were more likely to agree with statements such as A woman should not be allowed to have an abortion if the man involved really wants to keep his unborn child and If a child is born against the fathers will, he should not be obligated to support the child financially.

I think the average person should take away that the idea of freedom that libertarians subscribe to, which sounds attractive and is often wielded by politicians as though it has a single objective definition, does not actually translate into straightforward policy prescriptions, Chalmers told PsyPost. This is particularly true in a world in which we are so interdependent on one another and in which those who tend to be in charge of both philosophising about these concepts and creating policies around them may be at least partially shielded from the messy realities of this interdependence due to a lack of experience with pregnancy, childbirth, and even interpersonal care work in general.

This lack of straightforward application is illustrated by our findings, in that libertarian identification was associated with opposition to womens abortion rights, and support for mens right both to prevent women from having abortions (male veto), and to withdraw financial support for a child when women refuse to terminate the pregnancy (financial abortion). Notably, our analyses suggested that hostile sexism i.e., sexist antipathy may account for this effect, Chalmers added.
People who score high on measures of hostile sexism endorse statements such as When women lose to men in a fair competition, they typically complain about being discriminated against.
While I wasnt surprised to learn that libertarianism was positively associated with hostile sexism the resentful, distrustful, openly adversarial component of Glick and Fiskes (1996) Ambivalent Sexism Theory I was surprised that libertarianism also shared a positive association with the superficially positive component of this theory, benevolent sexism, Chalmers explained.

Benevolent sexism portrays women as more moral and refined than men, and entitled (if they properly adhere to their gendered role) to mens protection. Given that benevolent sexism imposes this duty upon men to protect and provide for women, I was surprised that libertarians who value freedom and autonomy above all else would be willing to endorse this.

Take a moment and read

https://fortune.com/longform/teflon-pollution-north-carolina/

Teflon is the quintessential American product. It was discovered by accident and like many such discoveries was at first simply a creation in search of a purpose. Versions of it are in our frying pans and popcorn bags, our medical devices and electronic gadgets, our pruning shears and our cars. It is ubiquitous and essential. It is part of our vocabulary, uttered with both envy and exasperation to describe politicians and Mafia dons. It even helped win World War II: Teflon was needed to properly seal the pipes in the gaseous diffusion plant where uranium was enriched to make the first atomic bombs.

https://www.organicconsumers.org/blog/devil-we-know-how-dupont-poisoned-world-teflon

A new Netflix documentary titled, The Devil We Know, tells the story of DuPonts decades-long cover-up of the harm caused by chemicals used to make its popular non-stick Teflon products. The film shows how the chemicals used to make Teflon poisoned people and the environmentnot just in Parkersburg, West Virginia, where DuPont had a Teflon plant, but all over the world.
It all began in 1945, when DuPont, renamed DowDuPont following its 2017 merger with Dow Chemical, began manufacturing Teflon, a product best known for its use in non-stick cookware, but also widely used in a variety of other consumer products, including waterproof clothing and furniture, food packaging, self-cleaning ovens, airplanes and cars.
One of the key ingredients in DuPonts Teflon was C8, a toxic, man-made chemical created by Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company, better known as 3M, to make Scotchgard. The chemical, also known as PFOS or PFOA, is what gave Teflon its non-stick properties.
Both 3M and DuPont were well aware of the health hazards associated with C8. But that didnt stop DuPont from dumping the toxic chemical into local waterways, where it made its way into public drinking water and subsequently sickened thousands of people, and ultimately killing many of them.
3M and DuPont covered up the health risks of C8
The film features stories from a number of people who were affected by DuPonts Teflon, including DuPont employees, children and adults in the surrounding community, as well as pets, livestock and wildlife.
One of those stories is that of Sue Bailey, a former DuPont employee who gave birth to a son with severe deformities. Her son, William Bailey, aka Bucky, was born with half of a nose, one nostril, a serrated eyelid and a keyhole pupil where his iris and retina were detached.
Sues work for DuPont required her to come in direct contact with C8. Her job involved working in a large room with huge cylinders filled with C8. The cylinders would bubble over like an out-of-control bubble bath, according to the film. The Teflon production process left behind a discharge of water. It was Sues job to pump it out back, where it would flow directly into the river.
DuPont tried to blame Sue for her sons birth defects. But she wasnt buying it. On her first day back to work, she heard her co-workers talking about another DuPont employee who had given birth to a baby with deformities very similar to Buckys.
DuPont knew exposure to C8 could harm human health and cause birth defects. Both DuPont and 3M had been studying the chemical since the 1960s. One study on the chemical led by 3M, determined that the chemical could potentially cause birth defects in the eyes of rat fetuses.
Studies link Teflon chemical to six human diseases
The film also features Ken Wamsley, a former DuPont employee who worked for the company for 40 years. He said the first time he heard C8 was dangerous was from a supervisor who said it might hurt pregnant women. DuPont sent all the women home, but insisted the men were not at risk.
That turned out to be a bold-faced lie.
Today, we know that exposure to C8 in drinking water is linked to six different diseases: kidney cancer, testicular cancer, ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, preeclampsia and high cholesterol, according to the film.
Evidence shows that DuPont knew for decades that exposure to C8 could cause long-term health effects in humans. DuPont started conducting cancer studies in 1988. The companys own studies showed that exposure to C8 killed rats, dogs and monkeys, by causing testicular cancer, liver disease and pancreatic disease.
Teflon chemical is in the blood of 99 percent of Americans
Not only did DuPont continue to manufacture Teflon, but it also continued to dump the chemical into waterways.
In 2001, a class-action lawsuit was brought against DuPont by residents of the Ohio River Valley who had been exposed to C8 in their drinking water. DuPont agreed to settle the suit, offering the plaintiffs $343 million.
But in a groundbreaking decision, the plaintiffs refused to take individual payments. Instead, they decided to establish a C8 Science Panel dedicated to studying the link between C8 in drinking water and human disease.
C8 contamination is so widespread that, according to this article in the Intercept, 99 percent of Americans have the chemical in their blood. Its also been found in the blood of people from all parts of the world. The main sources of exposure are still somewhat of a mystery. The likely culprits, though, are industrial waste and the consumer products that shed C8 over time.
Under terms of the $343-million settlement, six water districts could test peoples blood and sue DuPont if the Science Panel could prove exposure to C8 caused any harm.
DuPont said it was confident the test results would prove C8 was safe.
In order to overcome the challenge of recruiting enough volunteers to submit their blood for analysis, the panel used some of the funds from the settlement to offer each volunteer $400.
Through the payout and a massive media effort, the panel got more than 70,000 people to participate. The process took more than seven years. In 2012, the results were in: Exposure to C8 in drinking water caused six different human diseases.
DuPont is still manufacturing Teflon
More than 3,500 cases were filed against DuPont. Soon, the victories started pouring in.
The first case involved a woman who said exposure to C8 caused her kidney cancer. The jury found DuPont guilty and awarded the plaintiff $1.6 million.
In 2017, DuPont and Chemours, a company created by DuPont, agreed to pay $671 million to settle thousands of lawsuits.
Many lawsuits are still pending to this day.
DuPont agreed to casually phase out C8 by 2015. But it still makes Teflon. DuPont replaced C8 with a new chemical called Gen-X, which is already turning up in waterways.
Animal studies conducted by DuPont found tumors in rats exposed to Gen-X, according to the film. The tumors are similar to those seen in rats exposed to C8.

Freshwater fish that is.
Forever chemicals cause cancer.

Eating one wild fish same as month of drinking tainted water: study. Researchers calculated that eating one wild fish in a year equated to ingesting water with PFOS at 48 parts per trillion, or ppt, for one month.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0013935122024926#fig1

Locally caught freshwater fish across the United States are likely a significant source of exposure to PFOS and other perfluorinated compounds
Fig. 1. Total quantifiable PFAS in freshwater fish in the continental United States (20132015). Dots depict sample locations from the National Rivers and Streams Assessment and the Great Lakes Human Health Fish Fillet Tissue Study. The dots are divided into four color-coded groups based on the composite sample's concentration of total PFAS. There are 349 sampling locations from the National Rivers and Streams Assessment and 152 sampling locations from the Great Lakes Human Health Fish Fillet Tissue Study, for a total of 501 sampling locations. (For interpretation of the references to color in this figure legend, the reader is referred to the Web version of this article.)

Across both U.S. EPA's datasets, the lowest total PFAS was 425 ng/kg and the highest was 286,767 ng/kg. The mean total PFAS was 20,870 ng/kg and the median was 11,880 ng/kg. A summary table of the individual U.S. fish sampling results and the authors calculations are provided in Supporting Information Table SI3. Of the 13 PFAS measured, all were detected in at least one fish sample, with PFHpA detected the least often (one detection among 501 fish samples). As shown in Fig. 2, PFOS was the major compound detected, with perfluoroundecanoic acid (PFUnDA), PFDA, perfluorododecanoic acid (PFDoA) and perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA) the next largest contributors, on average. Each of these five PFAS were detected in most samples.

Above referred to this.

First person EVER to take all the top 10.

Holy

Taylor Swift has become the first artist in history to claim every slot in the top 10 of the US singles chart.
She overtakes Drake, who held the previous record of nine top 10 singles in September 2021. Before him, the Beatles scored eight top 10s in 1964.
Swift's chart domination is thanks to her latest album, Midnights, which has become 2022's fastest-selling release.
"10 out of 10 of the Hot 100??? On my 10th album??? I AM IN SHAMBLES," tweeted the pop star.
The 32-year-old claims the number one spot with the single Anti-Hero, whose chorus, "It's me. Hi! I'm the problem, it's me," has quickly become a Tik Tok trend.
The rest of the top 10 includes album tracks like Lavender Haze, Maroon, Snow On The Beach, Bejewelled and Karma.
All 13 of the songs on Midnights' standard edition make the top 15, interrupted only by Sam Smith's Unholy at 11 and Steve Lacy's Bad Habits at 12.

You're looking at a different chart.

Taylor Swift is the queen of the Billboard charts this week, and not just one or two of them. With her new album Midnights and the songs featured on it, the singer-songwriter dominates like never before, and in doing so, she makes history and passes yet another gay icon for a special spot in the history books.
As her new album Midnights debuts atop the Billboard 200 with the largest opening sum in years, the tunes featured on its tracklist also prove themselves to be massive wins right out of the gate.
This week, Swift becomes the first musician to simultaneously claim the entirety of the top 10 on the Hot 100, the most important songs chart in the U.S.
Thats right the top 10 songs in America right now are all by Taylor Swift. With 10 new placements inside the most competitive space on the Hot 100 known as the most competitive ranking published by Billboard Swift moves up the list of artists with the most top 10s in history.

If you base it on this metric then sure.

This is a list of artists with the most number-ones on the U.S. Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. Madonna currently holds the record for the most number-one songs in the 43-year history of the chart, with 50. The only other artists to have achieved more than 20 chart toppers are Rihanna (33) and Beyonce (22).

Outdated and wrong

With 40 top 10 hits in the Hot 100 over her career, Swift surpassed Madonna as the woman with the most top 10s in the chart's history. (Madonna has 38 top 10 singles.) Swift is only surpassed by Drake, who counts 59 top 10 hits.Oct 31, 2022

https://strangeago.com/2018/05/23/disturbing-tales-of-spanking-in-the-early-20th-century/

Spanking the wife appears to have been a rather normal affair in the early 1900s. After all, there were numerous cases brought to court in which a husband asked for permission to spank a wife for some sort of misbehavior.

For example, in 1913, a husband went before a Brooklyn magistrate and asked if he could spank his wife if she interfered with his spanking of their child. The magistrate decided that spanking the wife was the way to handle the situation.

Again, in 1916, a New York judge rules that a husband could legally spank his wife if she refused to kiss him.

However, spanking did not always go as planned. In 1912 a Chicago man took a strap and spanked his sixteen-year-old wife with it. He was taken before the judge, declared that it was a free country and that he had a right to spank his wife, and was given 100 days in jail. [1] [2] [3]

No it's not.
Nobody here wants to work for garbage pay at a garbage job. Meanwhile, workers in Bangladesh are more than willing to do that, even as buildings fall down on top of them.
Jobs that used to be done in China are increasingly moving to Vietnam, as wages rise in China.

Only the jobs can't be outsourced or automated won't be.

lmao

that statement is CLUELESS

Not if they could join the global union! Which is why they destroyed labor's ability to defend themselves against wage slavery.

it is a lie
they can't hire someone in bangladesh for pennies that is why all the CEOs are whining all the time at the moment and they are spending millions on propaganda saying stuff like "quite quitting is over! get in line!"

question is either part of the problem or ABSOLUTELY DUPED IN IGNORANCE by reciting an age old tactic of

"better get in line cause we could just outsource your job!"

Questionmarktarius posted...
that was someone else's.

You rehearsed the line so perfectly that we all know exactly what you are up to

you can't have it both ways

there is no "no on wants to work crisis"
and
"shut up or I will easily replace you for cheaper!"

that is a paradox

Don't get me started with the X-men. You are damn right those people should be put on a list. We are not talking about rounding them up or anything, but I should know if the person next door to me, can mind control me, or of the guy across the street can blow up my house if his glasses fall off.

WOW are you embracing bigotry!!

excuse me but the guy who can warp reality is just like you and me!
