Is Melody a CRINGE name for a child?

  • When she sounds like a cat in a blender
  • When her character is anything BUT harmony
  • When her presence invokes panic rather than rhythm

It's right up there with "Joy" and "Hunter". Sometimes the names don't seem like they really fit the specific person at first glance. And some of these people become adults with names that are the antithesis of their daily behavior. Parental naming conventions don't always appear to make sense for long term, i get it.

However, sometimes parents name their kids for personally unique instances that happened early in life. For example "Melody" could refer to not the child's actual character, but instead of how she fell sleep listening to certain music.

Pass.

My husband and I both acknowledged that if either of us went full Chungus, it was fair to consider breaking up over it. Staying together would be a cute Hallmark moment, but we both said we wouldn't be comfortable with the other suffering through forced attraction and stress over preventable medical issues. You know why we hypothetically discussed it after watching cringey obesity reality shows on the Learning Channel..? To incentivize both us to avoid letting something like that happen in the first place; to let each other know that what we saw on TV was abhorrently cringey and a turn off.

I can't see myself attracted to a 300lb+ fat man. Most people can't see me staying in a relationship with a partner like that. I'm active and hit the gym on a regular basis. I disciplined myself to maintain a lifting routine and cut back on unhealthy foods. I sweat through all that and get praised for the results socially and professionally. Why should I accept and invest in a partner who's made it clear they would never do the bare minimum of fitness to mutually stay physically attractive for me? Key word there: mutual.

If you're not being mutual with your standards towards your partner, that's not a healthy relationship. It barely qualifies as love. A loving partner would not settle for you putting up with a raw deal like that. They would want better for you. They would want the longevity of the relationship to last as long as possible. Neglectfully getting obese and adopting a host of critical health conditions is counter intuitive to that...

ClockworkHare

Extrovert married to an introvert. That's oil and water for some couples. For us, we found a balance.

I give him confidence and backup when stepping out once in a while, he keeps my head out of the clouds and our home comfortable. This formula only works because we genuinely care about each other. Half-assing or trying to "manifest" the same results while cutting corners (as many extroverts will try to do) won't work without the transparency, reciprocation, and occasional compromise. In other words: mutual effort.

Despite being the more extroverted one, as I get older, I've noticed the less my emotional fulfillment depends on the clique carousel. I used to be all about it and now I'm like "oh well, I'll catch the next one ". It doesn't feel as urgent anymore, partly because many of our friends haven't settled down and likely never will. I still like to socialize with them to help them stay afloat, but I'm not losing any sleep over missed social functions lacking a goal. My husband keeps me recharged himself. Although sometimes it's fun mingling with his introvert friends instead because they tend to elect me as troop leader for stuff any extrovert could do on the fly. I get to feel a little like a celebrity.

Well yeah. If you're not a fan of mythic+, raiding, or pvp...I just can't recommend WoW for you. That's where all roads eventually lead by Blizzard's dusty old design. And I notice all 3 of those have a notable chance of dealing with asshole players that fit the grungy old WoW player stereotype.

I get what casual players who try WoW mean when they say "toxic playerbase". They have a point. And I know where you're going to find the worst offenders: exactly where Blizzard's design sends you. Not everyone has a friend group available 24/7, especially working class adults. It's not really a valid solution for everybody, more like a band-aid to an archaic design.

And I get how that all ties in with a lot of casual players enjoying soloable pve content instead (like world quests). I've been there. It's not an uncommon trend in the game now. However, I also play the game with my husband who keeps it engaging for me. Having someone to play with keeps me interested. Having in-game buddies are how you alleviate the occasional run-ins with toxic players.

If busy life makes it hard for you to play with regular buddies online, WoW is a dinosaur you're probably better off forgetting. My husband and I like dinosaurs. We can deal with (and privately laugh at) the angry cavemen in pugs and Captain Ahabs in raids, but totally understand not every gamer wants to do that when there's shiner titles out there now. When the game isn't entertaining you anymore, it's time to move on.

Did you like the Junction System from FFVIII?

God no. It discouraged me from using magic spells that gave the best stat boosts. And it was boring af stocking up on them to begin with.

It's like, yeah, I could trek back to specific locations on the world map to restock those spells.
Then you take a second to actually think about what I just described and realize that's the opposite of fun...

I liked FF8 for a number of reasons, but the Junction system was not one of them.
I ended up spending most battles spamming Limit Breaks anyway. The only time I didn't was when I played the game with cheats on (unlimited spells).
Fuck, part of the reason FF9 got praised was the new system had it's own quirks, but it was not anywhere near as annoying as FF8's.

To be fair, movie Ron filled out later both in body and character.

Krum was the popular golden boy that Hermione wasn't ever going to lock down because he had options (more than her). He was portrayed as someone who likely had fun with dozens of other Hermiones before. As far as what he wanted, she wasn't special...because what made her exceptional, he wasn't interested in. Not an uncommon scenario for hormone driven teenagers all about looks, Hermione included. Realistically, that was the main reason she was checking out Krum in the first place. She just didn't realize her crush's interest in her was mutually superficial.

It's why they wanted to selectively take chunks from an already established franchise and duct tape it into a half-assed "reimagined" Frankenstein that nobody really asked for. They stink at creating anything remarkably original and worthy of applause. All they can do is awkwardly mutate shit for the sake of change and call it brilliant. That's what "reimagined" typical means with Netflix.

Diversity and inclusion can be part of a successful equation in entertainment. This shit they slapped Mindy Kaling's name on is just three different kinds of lazy rolled into one. It's a parasite they want to call an edgy phenom.

Shortest man I ever dated and had a good time with was 5'2".

I was working as an assistant event coordinator at a community college campus before getting my nursing degree. He was part of the maintenance crew and clearly older than me with specks of grey in his beard with nice hair. However, I was literally 12 inches taller at 6'2" and that clearly excited him when we met. He circled around me gawking and said "wow, you're a tall one ". He was so awkward about it, even his supervisor barked at him to get back to work and leave me alone. I got the impression it wasn't the first time his boss caught him flirting on campus. What made it weird for me is my height wasn't exceptional in the town I grew up in. He later explained that it was the opposite where he was from: most men in his remote mountain community near the range peaked at 5'8". It was all so random and caught me off guard. Of course I considered maybe that was the point and he pulled a pick up line, oh well.

The awkward flattery wasn't why I accepted a date with him. His willingness to piss off his boss just to talk with me was. He later admitted it wasn't just our height difference, but also my face and fitness. His awkward charm and sharp looking beard got me interested. We dated several times, but it didn't lead to anything long term. We were from two different worlds. I will admit he showed me some great times out and in the bedroom. Short stack does not always mean short equipment. This man was on a mission and I was fine being another notch on his belt.

I pity my friends who are too hung up on a guy's height to check out all the great dick they're missing. Coworker who is like a ditzy sister to me kept asking "wow why does it seem like you have so much more fun dating guys than I do ". And I'm like step one - turn off the height requirements on your app. Roll with it, roll with them. She still too chicken to do it.

  • He sometimes craves extravagant dining meals once in a while, I don't...I could live off the same simple foods forever. When we go out, it's mostly for him. I just go as company. He understands this and prefers to pay for our meals, even when I offer to pay. I had an issue with that at first, but gave in for his comfort.
  • He's not good with cooking, I am and it's not unusual I fix us different dishes. It's what we do at restaurants anyway. He enjoys what I prepare. So does his mother who is a tough judge.
My husband and I had disagreements early on and I compensated by making different dishes the norm, including when his mother visits. Between the 3 of us and the occasional visit from relatives, it's manageable. Their kids eat what's given or go hungry. When they want to be punks, they can catch McDonald's on the way home.

People who LOVE Scooby Doo shows are not watching this.
People who HATE Scooby Doo content have better shows to watch.

Who's left? Mindy Kaling fans...?
Again, not enough of a sum to sustain investment.

Being super critical of whom she chose to date is ironically sexist, both towards Evans and also towards women. You disregard the woman's competence as an independent adult when you treat her like a defenseless nave child who needs to be rescued. Believing she does is about as primitive as it gets...

You likely would not have that same issue with a 25 year old man dating a 40+ year old female celebrity. Yet you only apply that standard of concern towards a younger woman's choices. How telling.

She's a quack and a shill. She's that cohost on talk shows that's basically still there to be paid to stir the pot. If she didn't, she would have been cut for diversity sake. Barely anyone actually likes that she's there.

Her commentary on American football is also sexist and surprisingly (not so surprisingly for Behar) homophobic. Straight men of diverse demographics are the majority of viewers, but there's also women who are fans with favorite teams, and LGBTQ people who watch also (notably gay men). Same can be said for certain other high profile professional sports too. There's plenty of us gay guys into watching soccer cups both for personal experience as athletes and the hot players.

Behar knows this. The network has paid people who shove statistics in her face. She's just spewing busted rhetoric for views. The View as a show has become a meme for dumbass hot takes in attempts to fight yearly declining viewership. The only one that tops it is The Real, which has proven itself anything but.

I liked it, but I'm not surprised another one of these shows got canned.

The market for edgy western adult animated comedy is oversaturated. Viewers are getting burnt out and not every new series is a hit. The crappy "Chicago Party Aunt " and "The Prince " are glaring examples of how low the genre can get when the comedy is too niche...

Despite enjoying "Inside Job ", I noticed an issue with show: the majority of the cast are borderline sociopathic assholes, even the protagonist. That's like the plot for almost every scene, a script formula that's not new. Some people like that kind of writing or can at least wade through it for the funny meme moments. Some people can't and feel like too many asshole contests spoil the show. However, we already have other better established contenders operating on that same formula. A watchable edgy show can still get scrapped when the competition does their bits better.

No my feet have huge tits

That's ingenious, combining two established fetishes to birth a glorious third.

There are women with foot (and other body part) fetishes, they're just likely to be more discreet about it.

Like there are women who are admittedly size queens about male physical attributes and one of those categories is men's feet. And no, many cases have nothing to do with rumored correlation to genital size. Some women just really do get a buzz seeing large powerful male feet, hands, chins, etc. Plenty of 6'+ male athletes and models can tell you that.

Another fetish group that most people would expect to be exclusively men but isn't would be chubby chasers. While not as common, there are women who fetishize causing their men to put on fat too, usually with excessive treats and cooking.

If this surprises you, take into account that decades ago the furry fandom used to be regarded as exclusively male too. Now some high schools have considered installing litter boxes for girls who identify as cats.

Why do couples sleep in the same bed?

We don't have a reason not to.

He likes to sleep next to me at night.
I like that he likes to sleep next to me at night. Snoring, gas, and all.

Does indeed sound dangerously close to Minority Report.

And there will be corrupt authoritative assholes pushing for it under the guise of "progress" with the anterior motive to exploit it as a means to lock anybody up who seems inconvenient...just like certain sci fi stories predicted.

This isn't the first example of tech being developed to expediate (more like completely bypass) the right to due process. It's been an ongoing industry sector for decades. Unfortunately, practically every "crime solving" invention these idiots have churned out has come part and parcel with concerningly exploitable flaws. It's a similar dilemma to the self-driving car. When these machines make an error or leave too many openings to be maliciously tampered with, someone's life gets destroyed...

When that's a potential outcome of innovation, the sensible and ethical approach is not to move forward yet. It's heading back to the drawing board. Tyrants looking for more exploits of course want to overlook and silence that concern.

If you're not good enough for her to introduce, you're not good enough to drive her ass all the way there like a free cabby.

Have some stones.
