The thing is they aren't supposed to completely change long running non spinoff series gameplay that it is well known because they risk alienating fans. They should have made a new IP real time or make a FF spinoff IP real time. Not the main series.

Netflix doesn't make any money from their subscriptions, hell their streaming service is constantly making them in the red. Most of their revenue is from shareholders, which usually means reaching some kind of milestone in order to keep stock prices high. The issue Netflix is having is that they already reached the ceilling on how many subscribers they can get and now have to scrap away at the existing customers for some extra dough to show shareholders that they are still making "money". This is a problem when you go public, you're at the mercy of your shareholders and pleasing them every single time.

For me, its that the series has lost its charm. Since 10, they have gone in a direction that has been counter productive to the series. People seem to love the new direction it has taken with the open world and action rpg direction, but I heavily believe that the style that lasted up until 10 was the best vision for the series. Static backgrounds for cities and sub areas, overhead 3/4 view, and airships. Noting that the airship in 15 was awful in terms of controls.

And I get that it sells well, but at the same time, the franchise now aims to look beautiful without having any actual substance. The main villains of the series are being overshadowed by lesser characters and story directions just don't make sense.

And while FF13 technically brought back turn-based combat, the major issue I had with that game (outside the linear levels and hard to understand terminology), is that you could only control one character in battle. Meanwhile, they implemented a system very similar in Octopath Traveler and that was fantastic (very much looking forward to playing OT2 when I get the money).
