basically: like everything else involving gunplagirl, people are looking for any reason to hate her. she was kinda rude to a guy who had previously said virulently homophobic things about a murdered gay man. because she is trans and left-leaning, people blew it way out of proportion and took the guy's side, and held it against her for literally years when she didn't actually do anything wrong.

If you are against racism, suddenly that also means you're for higher social spending, more social safety nets, LGBTQ protection, worker's unions, believe in education and science, and you're worried about the environment. You can to believe all these things at the same time, because "the left" encompasses them all.

Meanwhile the right believes in racism, anti lgbtq, anti unions, climate change deniers, anti-science, anti-education, and against any kind of social spending.

So what if someone is rich and doesn't like unions, does that mean he HAS to be a raging racist and homophobe too? Sadly, the way we have "packaged" political ideology here, it means such a thing, and people fall for it.

The idea of an educated guy that believes in science and knows thar racism is wrong doesn't necessarily mean he has to be pro-union or pro-social spending, for example.

social spending cuts and anti-union policies harm queer people and people of colour a lot more than the general population. these issues are not separable from one another.

so, first: "the neopronoun movement" is not hurting trans acceptance. the people being "turned away" from trans acceptance because some people are kinda weird were not in favour of it in the first place. they're just using it as an excuse. it's quite similar to the "this bernie supporter was kinda rude to me one time, so I'm going to vote for trump now" nonsense from 2016. it's even less based in reality here though, because it's just about people being weird; not even being rude to you.

Probably. I wonder how much the neopronoun movement hurts trans acceptance. They aren't the same thing (in my view) but they often get lumped together. Seems like most people don't have a problem referring to people as he/she/they/them but when you throw in non-binary deerkin and birthing-person people start pushing back and rational trans people are put in the crossfire.

And don't forget, the more subsidized housing you build for the homeless. The fewer you're have the for low-meduim wage. Who themselves are struggling with cost.

Homelessness has increased in Utah, same as everywhere else since then. So long term at least it wasn't a real solution.

Even then where are you hosting hundreds of thousands of people, for many, possibly indefinitely.

We've steadily increased the budget for homelessness for decades now and it's not working. Hell in my opinion it's the main problem.

To much time and money is wasted on people that just use it so continue their life style rather then uplift themselves.

And I know corruption is rampant but enough reaches them still that my opinion on the matter doesn't change.

Honestly I think the federal government should step in to cap tipping. 20% cap on meals <$50, 15% for meals between $50-250, %12% for meals > $250, 10% for meals > $1000

this would be fine if they also mandated that all employees be paid an actual living wage
