The fucking Book of Job. God dammit that one's such a load of BS. "Here Satan, fallen angel my followers are supposed to fear and revile, torment my most loyal follower, because he'll love me anyway."

Whenever I say God is a dick, Job is how I back it up.

Cheater87 posted...
Perhaps the god of the OT is Satan?
I believe that was actually part of the Cathar beliefs, in addition to being tied to Gnosticism. Regular Christians reviled the Cathar beliefs so fully that their last fortress was slaughtered to the man, and was the oldest recorded instance of "kill 'em all and let God figure it out." Well, the actual quote was "He will know His true Flock" or something similar.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

I mean, this is the real reason. As far as scholarly interest in religion goes, rather than an active religious interest, books and stories removed or not included in the Bible is a pretty interesting rabbit hole to go down.

The story of Lilith for instance. Adam's first wife, who was raised from the soil the same as Adam. She refused to obey him because they were both formed from the Earth by God. Then she ran away. Adam demands a new wife that will obey him, God uses a rib from Adam. Eve is made from Adam therefore must obey him. All women are descended from Eve, women must therefore obey men.

Anyone with reasonable critical thinking skills can figure out why they didn't include the story of Lilith as Adam's first wife. Wouldn't want women getting ideas.

EArly access for Indie games isn't a scam. It helps them pay the bills as they build a game and shows people actually WANT that game. It's a gamble, sure, but generally it pays off in the end unless the team implodes.

Now, when a AAA publisher does early access.... (cough, Take Two Interactive, cough), 100% scam.

Not shocking at all. No matter how much you ban going into a country, there's always going to be someone who disagrees with the US and will trade with them. Iran's biggest trading parterns are Myanmar and North Korea, both of which are pariah states generally speaking. And North Korea's biggest trade partner is China. North Korea has made a career out of ignoring the demands of the international community, so any country willing to trade with them could be theoretically immune to sanctions.

The only way sanctions work is if you make EVERYONE enforce them, and that's impossible. The US couldn't even stop the CSA from getting guns during the civil war, and the US had total naval superiority. And if you think that's a dated example, look up Narco Subs.

If it ends in Heat Death, I feel like everything is just over forever. And I sometimes imagine all the planets in the universe, and asteroids and stuff, still floating around after the last star has vanished. And there is no light in the entire universe.
So, one, science is leaning towards heat death, which is the most neutral ending. And second, what actually happens to all matter depends on whether or not protons decay. Modern science has no idea if protons decay or not. But if they do, there will be literally nothing, as opposed to theoretically nothing.

But look on the bright side, by the time this is ever an issue, you and all of your descendants will be long gone and won't have to see it.

Rod from God is only theoretical anyway. No one has ever even come close to building any kind of weaponry designed to attack from LEO or beyond.
In theory it's a violation of international law. particularly the Outer Space Treaty. Though that's debatable since "a giant metal pole" doesn't qualify as a WMD, even if the impact would have a similar effect.

Really, the only reason no one has actually designed and built a Rods from God system is probably the cost involved compared to either sending a wet work team to kill someone, or launching cruise missiles at whatever you're upset with. Seems like it would be fairly easy to add them to spy sats.

Unlikely. Kazakhstan and Russia are both members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. In terms of alliance, it would be like if the US decided to invade New Zealand. Also, if Russia really wanted to push the issue, Kazakhstan gets most of its imports from Russia, given that they're a landlocked country, that borders Russia, this probably not something they should consider fucking around with.

Rather than restoring the Russian empire, Putin is working on turning Russia into a Chinese puppet state.
One could argue that's been slowly happening since 1995, given the origins of the SCO.

Politically, it looks like Russia isn't exactly in great favor with their allies right now, exempting Belarus which is a puppet regime anyway, their President has all but outright said it. I've heard China hasn't been willing to assist Russia with their fuck up in Ukraine either, so it looks like Russia is pretty well going to be put over a barrel by China and other allies with a choice of "either have a half functional economy where we cooperate" or "keep dicking around in Ukraine and wasting lives and money. Because that worked so well for you in Afghanistan in the 80s."

Alternatively, I'm just sleep deprived and rambling.
