The Sarlaac seems to lack anything that would actually encourage a creature to fall into it, in the way that carnivorous plants on Earth tend to have smells that prey insects are attracted to, so having a way to capture prey for nutrients would be a benefit. It's just a matter of catching enough prey for the Sarlaac The real question is "how does this thing survive in a vast desert wasteland?" Also, I just realized you're probably talking about the limbs on the plant body.
