but yeah the reason nobody talks about it is because ff tactics is infinitely more mainstream and tactics ogre was the direct precedent for it, i personally vastly prefer the series normal style due to its unique and (for the systems it was mostly on initially) ambitious realtime approach but since people only really play tactics it's the only one people give a damn about

idk why but i think violet male protag works better than scarlet male protag, if i was playing as the girl i might switch (actually i think those work fine about evenly) but unironically this is the main reason. also turo is hot and jets > wheel lizard

it is a pc game released at comiket 70 (august 2006), with an expansion at comiket 71 (december 2006). because rockin android are geniuses they decided to pick the game up for localisation, released it with the original Suguri (dec 2005) in a "Perfect Edition" release, but then decided nobody would play a shmup on pc, cancelled their run of that and did a borderline full remake on ps3 instead (both versions got amalgamated into one and later released on pc). the reason info on all the other releases was lost is because nobody pays attention to mid-2000s japanese indie games (oops)

either way though i'm actually retracting the nom lmao

kobuto is just an extremely unpolished (read: awful) virtual on clone and just generally mediocre touhou fangame tbh but it has charm to be fair, not to mention this half of the soundtrack is the best. localised releases are overpriced as heck though

i just picked out all the ones i thought represented it the best, the last 2 are optional since they're longer than usual but the last one especially is kinda important so idk. even without them it's probably more than 5 mins but they're all very short so idk (i didn't check). depending on how the criteria works out i expect this could end in last place but it has always been very deliberate about its aesthetic and i wanted to do the best i could manage to capture that

in truth, i feel like i get why none of the proposed flags won the last vote a few years ago, and that's because a lot of them had silver ferns on them and like... the one that won the preliminary vote had one too, but there were better ferns that one could've used

personally, the design i was rooting for was this one with a red, white and black style that kept the southern cross (stars) on it but dropped the union jack, and it would've also really benefited from a more detailed fern, so here's a vague low effort photoshop attempt of what it would've been like if it had one so i actually have something that can be rated lol
