Ah, Dark Distance. What a way to open an album! He might get repetitive with the main phrase of the song but I think it's earned. I especially love towards the end with the "Spare only the ones I love" emphasis on the I. And yea, he kind of wrote a bunch about a Covid-esque event before Covid happened, whoops!

And commenting on some of my past elims

People Verses actually took me a few listens to really get into. At first I was like "oh this is good because it's ETID so obviously it's good, but not one of my standouts from the album." And then I got more into the lyrics and the ending section with "there's more to life than anyone allows you", which I love how it's a sort of fakeout breakdown? Like leading up to it it sounds like it might go into a breakdown/harder section, but they go for a softer landing that I actually think is seriously awesome. I actually have a shirt from them (one of I think 5 shirts I have from them?) that has the lyrics "The well behaved will fill the graves" with a bunch of anthropomorphic rats rebelling against anthropomorphic rat cops. It's super sick. And I mean, the whole "Never trust a man" sections I love as well with how apt it is and how upset it'll make some of the more sensitive alpha-type males.

Hostile Architecture, Keith really goes for some cool vocal inflections. The whole "I know, I know, I know you hate to hear it", the "I'm sorry, I'm sorry I'm sorry", it's just fantastic what he does. And some choice lines like "There's too many ghosts, not nearly enough spirit", "Take my hand, let me teach you about regret", "What do you like better? I will wear it for you/What do you know better? I'll make it the truth".....I obviously could keep going on and on with his lyrics which you already know and appreciate. And the whole ending section in general, the absolute catharsis of just letting it all out. Woof.

Cool to see Sorry Bro I Love You back in! Curious to see how much higher it'll go! Of the Dorian Elctra songs left, I'm kind of surprised Give Great Thanks is still in but I appreciate it! It's a standout from the album for me. And the music video for it is quite something, par for the course for Dorian.

Kingslayer is great since it harkens back to their earlier eras which is what I'm more a fan of, but taking their knowledge of their experimentation with their later eras. Post Human Survival Horror in general excels at that, it doesn't seem like their next project in the Post Human series is gonna do quite the same thing but at least this EP is still a thing.

There Is a Hell is still such a great album, damn. And 10 year anniversary of Sempiternal, which is the album I technically started on with them even if There is a Hell is my fav from them.

I can confirm #1 Trigun fan on Board 8, Shaduln, loves Stampede so far so sadly some of you just aren't cultured enough

The final episodes of the show are actually my favorite part of the series! Really love the internal issues dealt with during them, and think it's hilarious that watchers got so big mad at it that the movie was created. The movie is good too, but I prefer the final episodes.

Goblin Slayer is the the anime that had the shock value 1st episode to generate a bunch of social media hype, but then became a very boring generic fantasy series without much really going for it and no memorable characters.

Basically this. It's not terrible, just very middling.

And as someone who's been doing a few D&D campaigns, boy am I glad mine aren't as underwhelming as Goblin Slayer.

Yeaaaaa I wouldn't peg you as a Chainsaw Man fan so that's understandable, always good to watch some stuff outside your wheelhouse every once in a while! Kind of how I ended up loving Zombie Land Saga despite not ever having watched an idol anime (which to be fair it kind of isn't but it's the closest I've watched)

And I'm someone who got in on the manga before the show aired, and I greatly enjoy both!

I'm more of a fan of Hollow Crown-era Architects but I do admire how far they've come and how popular they've gotten

99 playing while Reigen ran towards Mob made me burst into tears. And Mob laughing at the end is such a perfect end shot.

Wow I thought Thing with Feathers would land higher! Definitely the "chillest" song on the album, although lyrical still far from chill. Bringing in Andy Hull from Manchester Orchestra is cool too. Really love the ending with the "standing ovation" trail off.

The Whip is a real interesting one to me with the lyrics, especially towards the end. "Fear is a fetish and I am a masochist. I'm not ashamed of my shame, now that I gave it a name." Can't say there are too many other songs with the subject manner which is neat.
