They are not serious games at all, excluding a secret ending in the second game that is just... so fucking brutal. Even the serious moments are usually experienced through the eyes of the main character, who is an idiot. Just lighthearted, fun stories. The gameplay is mostly standard, turn based battles. Nothing new, but perfectly good. There are only four games in the main series. Everything else are unconnected spin offs. The Rebirth games on the vita are remakes of the first 3 PS3 games.
