No way in hell he experiences any sort of consequences on other than he doesn't get some of the documents back. If he were a normal person, he would be tried for treason. Democrats don't want to set a precedent that will allow Republicans to try all former Democratic presidents, so look for this to go nowhere

Certain banned users are claiming that the FBI doing this raid was a bigger threat than Trump having the documents because they effectively let our enemies know that Trump had these documents. Before the raid, they were completely safe.

Democrats and left leaning people need to realize that the popular vote doesn't matter. Trump's defeat in 2020 set the stage for state legislatures to decide who gets their state's electoral votes regardless of how their state votes.

Republicans seem to be winning anyway (even when they lose). They just keep putting candidates who are further to the right than the last and the Democrats respond with someone further to the right, redefining where the center is. Voters who lean Democratic put up with it merely because it's the less bad option.

There are news reports daily of teens stealing Kias and Hyundais in my city. Toyotas aren't much better since those get their catalytic converters stolen daily as well.

No one can stop it, its like watching a train wreck in slow motion, but in this case it is the entire country.

It's likely that Trump will lose the primary to DeSantis. Quite a few people are jumping ship to support him instead. Never thought I would say this, but I would much rather Trump run than DeSantis. DeSantis is like Trump on steroids and is a lot more competent

It's not guaranteed. Often enough when you start at a new company, you'll have far less PTO than you used to. I switched jobs and lost 2 weeks of PTO yearly. I'll have to be with my current company for 4-6 years to get it back.

They know precisely what it means. As someone else said, their aim is to dilute the term to the point where it's meaningless. That makes January 6 look a lot better.

I can't wait for the supreme court's next 2nd amendment decision where they decide arms doesn't just apply to guns, but all weapons. Who wouldn't want to have a concealed nuclear warhead or grenade launcher? By the original and textual readings of the constitution, those should also be completely protected rights.

Additionally, would it be legal to own and operate tanks and military fighter jets without any licenses? Those would count as arms too.

CNN was finding that Republicans aren't even paying attention to the hearings because of how partisan they think it is. So they will absolutely try again. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't sort of situation that will end up the same either way.

A number of people are distancing themselves from Trump post-insurrection.
* Most of his cabinet resigned. They should have spoken out sooner, sure, but still.
* Bill Barr gave a video deposition call out Trump's bullshit election fraud claims
* Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and Lin Wood are all facing the possibility of disbarment. Sidney Powell is supposed to have a hearing on this matter within a couple weeks.

And either way, the better solution is absolutely not "do nothing and ignore it" like you're suggesting.

I'm skeptical that anything good can come out of this. This will not make his base turn on him and there will probably be another attempted coup on his behalf.

I guess you missed the part where the DOJ is already begging for the evidence the Select Committee has? Of course you did.

So will Trump be prosecuted? Will his base turn on him? If the answer is no to either one, he'll do it again and it might go better for him when (not if) that happens.

The DoJ actually just did search warrants for 4 individuals tied to the fake elector plot. Two in Nevada and two in Georgia. Either way, the hearings need to continue.

They might do search warrants, but no way is anyone who actually matters going to face prosecution. It's just a ploy to score political points with moderates and probably will not tip the scales enough in favor of the democratic party in November.

They need to stop doing these hearings. The DOJ is not going to do anything about it and it's only giving more depressing detail to those who already think he's guilty. There is no chance that this convinces anyone from his base.

Yeah, some of the attitudes expressed in this thread are the reason I carry my piece anytime I ride my bike.

Definitely a lot of bad takes in this topic. I in part moved to my current city because cyclists are much more respected here and we have a lot better cycling infrastructure than the rest of the state (you can also mostly ride on sidewalks here too, which is practically illegal everywhere else in the state). That being said, it's still really bad when you compare it to a European city.

If you give bikers their own lane they ride as far left as possible negating the entire lane. Fuck bikes.

The USA just has really bad cycling infrastructure and it's illegal to ride a bicycle on there sidewalk in a lot of towns. If you don't assert your place in the road (by staying left) people will not respect your space and will try to pass you without giving much space and on something like a stroad (a street that is also a road), that could be a death sentence.

In motorcycle classes, they teach you to stay more to the left because staying to the right encourages people to violate your space and riding down the center is dangerous because of all the oil that motor vehicles leak.
