Id like to say for the record that the casting in the MCU has been one of its greatest achievements and is basically flawless.

That being said, Id like to see the alternative reality where Terrence Howard wasnt a turd. Him and Downey have such great chemistry and like another person said early. Hes so much more believable as a military man.

Rarely, Cap and Thor are both known for their serious demeanor. Its the same philosophy of if everyone is a star, nobody is a star. If everyone is clever, nobody is clever. Its very lazy writing to have everyone have quips, that isnt how it works in real life either.

Its very lazy criticism to say that every character is a quip machine. Cap making a couple jokes doesnt diminish his character in literally any way.

The problem with Marvel properties now is EVERYONE has quips, regardless of the rich history of the source material. It has never felt right for Thor and Captain America to crack jokes.

It definitely didnt start with Marvel, but Whedon brought that Bufy everyone is clever dialogue to the Avengers and now everyone sounds like the same character.

The very serious Thor had his time but people didnt like it.

And Captain America makes like 5 jokes total across the entirety of the films. Not every character is a quip machine people assume.

The scene in the movie is when the so called "rebels" are cheering for their victory and people are hugging and kissing, and you can see in the background, in the sky what looks like something that was hit in a very similar fashion to the Holdo maneuver. I don't know what you're talking about with a novelization.

I googled the scene you were talking about. Yes I could see how you could imply thats what happened. But added to it apparently the novelization does confirm that it was a Holdo Manuever. In no way have I been talking about Holdo herself being that special and the only one that could pull this off. Ive said her character didnt work and I wish they gave the move to someone with more importance in the franchise. And this is such a stupid semantic argument. Is it a one in a million shot? My criticisms is because using it in the first place opens Pandora's box in regards to that move, anyone and everyone should have used and should be using that all the time to take out massive ships and or planets. It doesn't change that it's a stupid move in execution, in lore breaking, in universe breaking and in massive asspulls. It's just dumb all around just like the rest of the film

But based on the fact that you literally didnt see it before AND you cant change the pastits a baffling choice that you continue to make for yourself.

Now going forward this move is a thing. Which is worrisome to absolutely fucking nothing because theres no projects that matter on the horizon that fall after these movies. You got your panties in a twist about a move introduced in the dying breath of last of the movie trilogies. It continues to mean nothing at the moment and for the long foreseeable future. Until the next writers dont touch it with a million foot pole, lest they endure the wrath of angry, depressing internet folk like yourself.

Yeah I agree with all of this. Decent plot, good action, a cool setting. But my immersion kept getting broken by painfully obvious flaws. Obi-Wan hiding behind that door then having to sneak over to the side when those 2 stormtroopers were walking towards him and easily should have seen him. The idiotic trench coat thing (there were a million ways to do that better). etc etc...

It's just dumb because those are easy things to avoid but there just wasn't any thought to them. Like a modicum of effort was all that was needed. Just one person looking at the footage and being like "well that looks stupid let's think of another way to do it better".

I saw this comment years ago when Kenobi was announced and Ewan took the stage at the convention. And literal the perfect move would have been for him to come on stage and say Hello there

But thats not what he did. And the comment was like they just clearly arent having fun with this franchise

And I feel like thats the most perfect assessment of all of these properties. The creativity and passion feels completely lacking. This the best they could come up with for the Obi Wan Legacy? Yikes.
