I've met men and women who've stated it was their favorite book. I never thought of them as hiding a sinister side of themselves. It's like if people say "There Will be Blood" is their favorite movie. I view it as an appreciation creator's ability to present a psychologically distant character to audiences. I don't assume they enjoy the film because they resonate with Daniel Plainview.

Just read the first 2 sentences. It's beautiful:

Btw, did you know Tolkien was writing a sequel called The New Shadow? It was going to take place 105 years after lotr. It was going to be a darker time with weaker men. Boys would pose as orcs and commit pranks, and cults for Sauron, Morgoth and other evil deities would begin to increase in presence. Tolkien abandoned it considering it too dark

IF you like Banjo Kazooie. Its as good as the first game in its current state.

It had a rough launch that has kind of haunted its reputation ever since but I replayed Banjo right before Yooka dropped and I can assure its the real Banjo 2.

i loved banjo kazooie and banjo tooie. Granted I was like 6 years old when I played kazooie and 9 when I played tooie. I'll give it a play. Thanks

Dread has a habit of pushing you forward then closing the door behind you. It isn't until certain segments where you can meaningfully backtrack, which was one of my biggest issues with it. It kind of guides you exactly where to go and pushes you along which I didn't appreciate. I get it's the true sequel to Fusion, but it just irks me here like it did in Fusion. There are times you can backtrack, for sure, but they almost seem like they are sandwiched between being forced to move forward since they close the path behind you.

Damn, alright. That's good to know. Think I'll pass on it. While I did love Fusion as a kid, I don't think I'd enjoy the same type of gameplay after playing games like Ori 2 or Hollow Knight where revisiting past areas is encouraged.

Dread was good but I don't think it is a super high up there Metroid game.

Ori 1 was just meh to me. Ori 2 plays very different. First game was platform heavy, second game is combat heavy with a larger emphasis on exploration and backtracking.

It depends on what you didn't like. I, too, wasn't a huge fan of Ori 1 - I found it too easy (until the very end), the exploration lacking, and combat too shallow. It was a very pretty game with good movement mechanics but not much else. From that perspective, I found Ori 2 just objectively better in every way. It's also kind of a soft reboot in that the main story is VERY similar to the first game, so if you liked the vibe but found it a bit boring you may find the sequel worth a try.

Does Dread have a good amount of exploration and backtracking? Because I love going back to old spots and finding all the secrets, or accessing areas that you made a mental note of earlier on
