Here's a better article. Guy gets a new trial. They wanted his SWAT commander to testify to the training the cop received, I guess to say he acted appropriately in the situation.

That's not clear from the article. If I were a defense attorney wanting to call a SWAT member as an expert it would be to describe how dangerous police work is. But that's really not a thing you need an expert for. If that was the case, then I think the trial judge got it right and the appellate judge is just trying to protect the cop. But there may be more to the issue.

It says in the article. The trial judge refused to allow defense to call a random SWAT team member as a witness bc he wasn't qualified to act as an expert witness.

Not sure about political demographics on the islands, but if Worcester county isn't red, that's encouraging. There are a lot of conservative rednecks in the central part of the state (including a racist shitbag former uncle of mine) and I would see trump sign bullshit and occasionally confederate flags when I was visiting my parents when they lived that way (that was part of the reason they moved away from there). I had to look a bit closer to notice that county was VT and not NH. Missed it at first glance.

There's literally no way for my mother or I to interact with my niece without us having to subject ourselves to constant mockery and verbal abuse. When we did try, there was barely any interaction or acknowledgment. It was always incredibly awkward. My niece would just be sitting around while my brother commanded all the attention, cataloguing all of the trinkets and gizmos his wife buys him.

The larger issue is that my brother seems to genuinely think that an entire lifetime of making everyone around him miserable becomes null and void because he had a daughter. Despite both my mother and I going into great detail into how we feel, he doesn't even acknowledge it.

The last thing he told my mother on the phone before blocking her was making a mockery about my other brother, who had passed away almost a decade ago due to suicide.

Its an alright movie, you can very much tell they gave Zack Snyder free reign to do literally whatever he wanted. You can really tell the theatrical cut really worked against Cyborg, and Ray Fisher being so pissed off about it, given he's basically the main character of the Snyder cut.

That said, it easily could've also been an hour shorter, there's way too much dumb slow-mo, and for some reason Snyder thinks you can't just be a team because you want to, and everyone needs this weird "I work alone" (There's a whole backstory for the Darkseid stuff and Wonder Woman needs to go out of her way to say "The people of earth weren't like, teaming up or anything, they just all got here, separately, for the same reason, to work together, but they were only working together because they were all there and just went "Hey alright", teams are for losers" and the Justice League forms kind of similarly.

And one hamfisted cameo in the middle of the movie literally ruins the movie for me, because its both so completely out of place, completely removes the worth of one of the most fundamental scenes in the movie, and just spits in the face of multiple characters.

Its not great, but if you have the whole night free it's not a bad watch.

I haven't followed this case at all but I don't see how you can claim stand your ground if you left an altercation voluntarily and then came back into the altercation voluntarily. Even ignoring the gun.

The whole point of Stand Your Ground is a situation where you have no choice but to pre-emptively defend yourself in a dangerous situation. If you left and came back, then "no choice" is out of the window.
