I've heard people say Suda wasn't that involved with this one, but what are the details on that?

I really did like CFA. Probably due to eating it from the campus location so much. Other places have strong showings in chicken sandwiches now. Popeyes just doesn't have great side options, but it's the closest to where I live so it gets some priority.

-It's those and Stranger of Paradise, I think. I've played a fair number of older releases this year.
-Shout out to Vampire Survivors. It's good enough to inspire a stampede of knockoffs.
-Rogue Legacy 2, I will say I didn't like the original and it's much better.
-Pokemon Mythologies: Cryogonal is a very likable flawed game.

And RPG Time is also PS4. Technically it's already been on PC, but even Epic would be an improvement.

Guilty Gear is made weirder by the fact that 2 is a different-genre spinoff released after XX.

Assassin's Creed has all of 4 numbered games but I suppose that beats some of the things mentioned.

how do people feel about roguelikes where items don't tell you what they do before you pick them up?

Well, it's not that bad if you don't have the description until you've picked one up for the first time ever. If you don't have a clear description while carrying it or even when you've used it, that's stupid. Just means you're supposed to play with the wiki open.

I figure if there was really anything to it a developer would be documented saying so at some point, but that initial insight was so memorable to me. It was a very long time ago actually.

Why are penguins a core unit in an SRPG? Why do they have waist bags and dual-wield serrated swords? Why do they explode when you throw them?

One time when playing FFT I noticed that the female Chemist units look kind of like they're wearing penguin costumes due to their blue and white clothing and yellow hair. They also have those brown supply bags worn around the waist. FFT was very influential on the SRPG genre, and the Disgaea series is another SRPG set on a grid of square tiles on 3D terrain. Chemists are one of the two Jobs you start FFT with, and Prinnies are basic monster units that you usually either start with in your army or can create as new units almost from the beginning. Is it crazy for me to think there's a connection?

But defining whether you beat a game doesn't truly matter because whether you beat a game doesn't truly matter. As long as you're happy with what you did.

We have internal terminology for features that exist in a game. We have the term save-states. There's no trouble specifying which were used. But there are still different ways to use save-states. Being able to revert any action could be used to avoid starting the game from the beginning, redoing a hard section, or having to repeat a grind after failing. You can also use it to undo every single time you get hit. The thing is, games have limits and save-states, depending on software have far fewer. Like, there are QoL and original content mods and then there are trainers for setting your stats however you want, too.

Only if they affect me. Don't keep bugging me about easy mode if I keep dying. If I want to throw myself against a wall over and over I'm going to. Pokemon XY, the EXP share, though. 50% EXP to all benched party members. To look at it simply, that adds up to a distribution of 350% EXP per KO. I played recently and tried to deny it to myself for the most part, do things that would make me struggle more like making a team that lacked type coverage. I discovered it's just a really poorly balanced single player game no matter what you do. I was still crazy overleveled without EXP share (the absolutely relentless random encounter rate may have encouraged that) and if anything I centralized even more into my starter because most new mon could never catch up to enemy level.

Maybe the Koopas are a joke army if you're good at Mario games, but I'm not.

That's good. I got it on PS+ and only played it a little so it doesn't make much of a difference but... general access to it is good.

I'm not sure if online if playable without PS+ but training mode is included so you might as well try.

I think if you make a 1v1 fighting game it should probably be intended for serious competitive play if people want to. There was a whole fan-made mod for the original trying to improve it, too.

Also, in the case of God of War, people refer to both Ascension and God of War 2018 as 4 which is hilarious.

Ascension really got the short end of every stick. It's got all the strengths of the old games and is possibly the best at some of those strengths, but GoWIII is early gen and it's late gen, opinion of the series was down, and the story is sort of wedged into canon without any clear purpose. The box says "before Kratos was a god" but he's not any less superhuman during Ascension than during God of War 1. That aside multiplayer was a great time when I used to play it.

Still have the DLC to go but I have defintely beaten the game at this point. It is a harsh game compared to Souls, and not always in a good way. Not managing stamina properly is instant death. It's loaded with hours of stat-tweaking minutea without good explanations in-game or anywhere else. But the combat is still cool when it works.

I didn't hold off on upgrading because the value proposition isn't changing until my previous subscription runs out. Wish it was a bit longer remaining, but I finally got to try the streaming service and have a bunch of games I can play until November. I downloaded Ys VIII since someone mentioned IX.

There's a rather large number of games available. Just not in the PS1,2,P category.

Not having to deal with people you don't want to online only benefits everyone's mental health. The more tools for it, the better.

Oh, the only good Shantae game I've played.

You can say that, but the PSN Store marketed it constantly. Every PS Now game was labeled as "included" regardless of what subscription type you were on.

I think it's kind of rare to not care about gender. Almost everyone includes it in how they understand themselves and others. That's why it matters to so many people.

I got all the new achievements in Vampire Survivors too. I forgot that it's not actually 1.0 yet.

Unless it is your job or someone is threatening you and your loved one's life/health, you don't have to. Believe me, you don't want to force yourself to go through games you aren't enjoying or aren't finding the time investment to be worth it.
