There's nothing stopping you from having your full series discussion after the show has ended. There are plenty of people like you who prefer binging, and even those who watch weekly will be happy to engage in that discussion with you for a while after it's over. You still have to wait for the entire show to be released whether it's aired weekly or not. Weekly shows are usually still in production when they start airing, so that final episode isn't coming any sooner. Therefor it has no effect on you. Meanwhile a bulk release completely kills any form of weekly discussion.

Bottom line: a bulk release is good for binge watchers and bad for weekly watchers, while a weekly release is good for everyone.

Again, you're only speaking theoretically. I'm speaking from experience. Weekly releases are OBJECTIVELY better for long-term discussion. At maximum, a bulk release generates discussion for a month or so. While a weekly release can keep it going for however long the show runs for (usually 3 months). The wait time between seasons is also lower on average as a result, keeping the story fresh in everyone's mind and reducing the chance that they drop it outright.

Sure, in theory you could do that. But in practice, most people just want to leave one or two comments about an episode while a few find something about the episode to talk at length about. When everything drops at once, there's too much to process. And you can't organize an episode-by-episode discussion when everyone is watching the show at a different pace. Someone who watched the whole thing right away will have lost interest by the time someone who watches it daily catches up to them, and that person will have lost interest when someone watching it weekly catches up.

heck i feel more discouraged from watching something when all the episodes are released at once.

specially when you have multiple shows being released simultaneously...

only exception i can make is when the episodes in questions are around 20-30 minutes long. more than that is overkill to me! lol

Normally people spend a week discussing the latest episode, speculating on what may happen next. When all the episodes are released at once, the whole story is done. All people can do is give their overall thoughts on the show (or at best, brief comments on each episode), then that's it. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is usually one of the most discussed anime for months in any season it airs in, but Part 6's discussion barely lasted a week because of the binge format.

I know Im in the minority here, but I prefer weekly episode releases. The binge model was cool at first, but I enjoy the discussion and theorizing that comes with weekly releases. I also feel like I pay more attention and retain more if Im only watching one episode of a show in a week as opposed to binging the entire season in a few days.

Netflix has few originals I care about these days though. But I did just watch the latest installment of Chefs Table over the last couple days

No doubt they've seen people sub, watch full shows every quickly then unsub which makes sense as they seem to be going down hill with what they have to offer especially with so many price increases in the last few years.

I especially like it on days I need to either shave my legs or when I'm doing some gathering on FFXIV that requires lots of timed nodes. Binge a show for a few hours, and then watch more if I'm in the mood after that.

I'm fine with this. I feel like I retain what happens in shows if I watch them weekly. It gives me time to reflect on what happened in the episode. If I move straight into one after another, I'm more likely to forget what happened.

There are clearly reasons other than greed to abandon the binge model, as others have discussed here. And if you really need the binge model and also only want to subscribe to netflix for that show, this is really easy to get around. TC is complaining just to complain.

That helps a lot. If there are 15 episodes, thats an extra 30 days of talking about it instead of just 2 days.

Good, binge method ruined a lot of what I watch. Netflix Jail for anime was also a death sentence for discussion too.

and just look at how on this board you got topics for each individual episode for House of Dragons, Better Call Saul, and Rings of Power, you wouldn't get that with the binge model

I still use it whenever I have a cough. But I don't rub it on my chest as much as I just huff it straight out of the container. It's a very effective cough suppressant.

this is a dumb question but like, how do people stumble upon their old friends' OFs? I assume you can't search by first and last name, right? there have to be millions of profiles, do you just have to stumble on a thumbnail of someone that looks familiar?

I just think of myself. When you look at me, shaved head, goatee, a few pound thicker than I should be. I'm wearing cargo shorts and a black tshirt 90% of the time. My "look" screams MAGA, but I'm the furthest from it.

The reason women tend to get cast as young boys is because 1, they have years or decades of experience; and 2, they can maintain the character for a long time. An actual boy is going to go through puberty and have a deeper voice (for instance, Zach Callison from Steven Universe has talked about having difficulty pitching his voice up in Season 5 to match his season 1 performance), but it ended up working because Steven was aged up for the movie and Future.

OTOH, you have The Amazing World of Gumball, which recast Gumball three times as the actors aged out of the role.
