Yeah, I wouldn't bother killing most enemies on a knifey knifer run. If you leave regular zombies, they won't turn into red ones later, right? I mean, I expect hunters replace some regardless later, but having some slow shamblers hanging around isn't terrible. I tried knifing a graveyard ghoulie with Jill awhile ago, circling it and picking it apart, and it took forever, so...can't imagine doing a Jill knife-only run.

I wonder how a knife-only run would go as Chris when you have to carry that TNT capsule to the elevator area and have to avoid running.

Since I don't have much to do until the next ESO event, I'll probably play through as Chris. Was going to try a knife-only run (presumably, this is better on Very Easy), but since I didn't get the normal-mode achievement, maybe I'll just do that instead of bothering with hard. Chris is hard mode already.

It must've been Wesker who shot that other S.T.A.R.S. dude in the courtyard cave. Our boy Barry wouldn't do such a thing.

Currently exploring the lab area. Damn glad I have my magnum with, 'cause these weird preying mantis things jumped out of nowhere and I had to blow their heads off. All their weird claws and stuff fell off in a gross spray...sorry not sorry.

I like the idea of Wesker sitting around the whole time, munching on chips and watching things from various cameras. That way, when I do run into him from time to time, it's because he's looking for a Pepsi or going to the bathroom, etc. Speaking of traitors...

I forget why Barry was helping the enemy (something about his family, I presume), but since I like the big ol' lug, I gave him the gun back and trust he'll do something clutch for me later. Even that snake dude pushed me out of the way at the expense of his own life. Still, I feel like they missed a chance for Jill to get actual answers from Barry after the boss fight, especially since he said "I can explain!" But naw...let's string out the drama a little more.

Shame I have few shotty shells, so I just put all my normal weapons away and switched to the magnum. Head-'splodin' action in the lab, ahoy!

It's been forever since I played the original, and usually played as Jill GOATentine anyway, so maybe that's why I don't remember.

Yeah, getting the rocket launcher was what I meant by speedrunning earlier. Never tried to get a world record or anything, haha. It seems like there's even more crap to remember this time, so I probably won't bother going for any ideal times.

Just geared up to find the courtyard. Must be near that fountain where fifty venomous vipers leapt at my succulent legs. Hopefully they despawned, 'cause I ran past 'em all. And speaking of nuisances, when even these fodder enemies don't die in one handgun blast, that's just stupid. There were even WASPS that took two occasionally. Same for crows. Feels like I'm using a squirt gun half the time.

Oh, the source code was lost. Perhaps that'd explain it. Even the other video sequences earlier were better than that ultra-grainy monstrosity. I enjoyed the b-movie action in RE1, though, so I wouldn't have minded if they kept that stuff and just recut some of the other dialogue (STOP!! Don't oPEN that DOOR!!).

And I see the door Barry repaired was the broken one leading to the savepoint area in the 1F east wing. Went all the way around because it broke earlier, so I didn't need to do that... And now I'm out of shotgun shells... And didn't have any room for the ones I found in the B1 elevator corridor...
At least I did the taxidermy/eye puzzle stuff and got the MO disc.

Gotta admit, for as upgraded as the graphics are, the fact that they (seemingly) ported over the grainy-ass sluice FMV and didn't improve it...is odd. They added in other stuff, so why not just remake it anew? Mixing chemicals did make me think how annoying it'd be if Chris had to do it with only six slots available, but I think Rebecca does it or something. I was looking for her earlier, but couldn't find a trace. Maybe the Helmet Key'll reveal something.

Alright, I made the VJOLT and poisoned the plant boss. Gonna go back and save, 'cause I don't want to do all that backtracking in the Aqua Ring over again.

Luffy having a different fruit than what everyone expected is pretty awesome. Usually these types of power-ups would be annoying, but this reveal comes after 1000 chapters, so I'm okay with it. I'm guessing even Shanks was fooled about the fruit's actual abilities (only Mariejois bigwigs seem to know about its origins), so I can't even mind the deception early on.

Hopefully we'll get the moment were Luffy makes everything rubbery and Wano itself literally beats the tar out of Kaido.

Most are pretty crappy, yeah. The Silver Shroud (radio theater superhero) quest is one of the more exemplary ones I can recall off hand as rising above the jank.

FO3 has a ton of memorable quests, but I'd still probably go with FO4. Even if it sucks in terms of story most of the time, the exploration, gunplay, (some of the) DLC, and settlement building are enough to keep one occupied.

Fried those damn sharks. Also found magnum ammo for my magnum, though I'll probably save it for later. I quit playing after I accidentally wandered into the plant boss room and the door wouldn't let me out, so I just wasted a bunch of shotgun ammo...before finding the exit right nearby. Killing those wasps makes you feel like a gangsta.

Quickly realized I didn't have other places to go, so I went in and turned a tarantula into paste. Gonna have to remember to go in and light the lamps. The billiards balls were in a certain order, too, so I should remember that (24563 or something).

The only amount of RE Id ever played in my life was several hours of the original RE1 on PS1 back in the 90s. I was used to standard RPGs in regards to save points, so it hadnt dawned on me that typewriter ribbon would be sparse. That led to me getting to a point where I played for a fairly long time without saving, and I died. Never went back to it after that.

One of the first games (maybe even THE first game) I had on PS1 was the first Tomb Raider, so I've been used to limited save attempts for a long time. I can see how some would find it an artifact of the olden days, but I'm okay with it even now.

Yeah, but I want health cannisters and key item stuff in my inventory. It helps that keys can be automatically discarded, unlike the other items, too, so I don't have to visit stashes or anything. I found the one in the eastern 1F that becomes a one-way area after the nearby doorknob breaks, for instance. As if a S.T.A.R.S. member can't just kick that door off its hinges.

Ahh, so maybe that wouldn't be too bad. If you can make a zombie lunge at you, it's not too hard to get around and get a good slice in. Does using kerosene "damage" negate a knife-only run?

What weapon does Chris start with? Maybe if he finds more shotgun ammo or something, it'd be okay. All I know is, if I did a knife run, I'd try to use up all those friggin' keys as soon as possible, since they waste so much space.

If he can stab quicker than Jill, perhaps it would be tolerable. No lockpick, though? Unacceptable.

Ehhhhhhh, I'm gonna reload to before the coffin zombie, since I wasted a ton of shotgun ammo on this half-melted zombie that coldcocked me in a forest hut (before I saved, WRYYYYYYY).

A knife-only run does sound kinda fun...but since I haven't played through as Chris, I dunno how much fun it'd be on the first time through. Probably not very.

Killed the red coffin zombie on the first try. Well...second. When I realized I reloaded ammo into the shotgun I wanted to get rid of, I restarted. Only took five shotty blasts. Last one was in its back, like a coward.

Yeah, I was trying to avoid fighting pointless enemies if I could, a la Dino Crisis, but the knife range is so pitiful and it's so slow, it wasn't doing very well. Dogs...well...that's what shotguns are for. Annoying as hell, but one blast + a dagger seems to do the trick fairly easily. I'd prefer not to waste daggers on early fodder, though.

Currently got my fourth death mask and I'm gonna go see what's in the coffin. Going in with only shotguns, but I can get grenades, too, if needed.

Butterknifing enemies in this game sucks, even when they're vulnerable, so I can't imagine going through an entire game like that. Maybe if you had a kick move to knock enemies down or something. Could've sworn one of the RE games let you do that. Or perhaps that's Dying Light.

I don't mind tank controls, really -- it hasn't hampered my enjoyment of any RE game, Grim Fandango, etc. I'm playing through on the upgraded control scheme, though, for a change. It's not too bad.

Killing shamblers in the same spot to burn 'em easier...smart. Found another fat zombie in the "itchy, tasty" room that attacked me from a poor camera angle, and wondered if I should've tried burning him first. Ahh well. Currently doing the piano/bar stuff to get the gold emblem.

I knocked down this fat-ass zombie and tried to burn it before it could rez three times...but it didn't work. Hate carrying around kerosene. Probably just gonna save it for deadites hanging around heavy traffic areas near stashes and stuff. Well, maybe I'll burn the one near that cobweb door, since I'm pretty sure that leads to the snake boss. I don't want to lug my shotgun and 'nade launcher upstairs, only to get my health halved by some dumb bastard.

Saved Richard, too. I'm sure he looks forward to a long, long life of living.

Oh, to light enemies on fire, you use the kerosene first, not the lighter. Maybe that's why it didn't work last time.

And I finally found where I'm supposed to go -- a door above the dining room I kept skipping since I could've sworn it was locked by something else. Turns out it was the last Sword Key door I needed.

I don't know about throwing out ALL knowledge. Some things seem familiar, like going onto the dining room balcony and pushing a statue off to get a gemstone, or the shotgun trap room, the room near a stairway that has the stash box, etc. You can even run from the first zombie and have Barry kill it for you. Still, the lockpick feels crappier because of all the new keys I need, so that sucks. I also missed the scene where Barry saves you from the shotgun trap, so I have to go find the fake shotgun somewhere. =(

I'm kinda annoyed that I can't get into the bar without some new key, when Jill should be able to lockpick her way in.
