IIRC in the book Nedry still did his thing. They got power back on and everything was up and running. So they went on like nothing else was wrong. Then they realized the computer doesn't work that way and they actually didn't have power to the fences or something.

So in the book Nedry causes a problem, they fix it, but flaws in their design makes it so it isn't really fixed. The second problem was on them.

The movie, I think all problems were caused by Nedry.

Although one could argue that their problems started long before that. In the book they didn't know that the dinosaurs were breeding because they coded their software in a way that wasn't giving them the correct numbers. (They told it to search for 2 of a dinosaur and it found the 2, but didn't mention there were 4 more because of breeding because it was set to ONLY look for 2)

Put simply: No. It couldn't have survived. It was destined to fail because it is a fact that with enough time something will go wrong.

I've thrown up while on the second one. Felt bad for my brothers and the random person who was in it with us.

Will it make everyone normal again? Nah. There will always be those on the right waiting for their next opportunity. But hopefully it's less of the normal people like that as time goes on. I know a couple people who I thought were lost but have soured on Trump in the past few months.

They got tired of chasing off tresspassers and I think there was a small fire or two that people caused.

I live maybe an hour from Centralia. I haven't been there since the late 80's / early 90s though. It wasn't a ghost town yet but it was getting there. People had started moving out but you would still see people walking around in town.

A few months ago I found the world of emulation handhelds. I made a topic about a Gameboy SP looking machine that played up to Sega Genesis (SNES had issues.) This was the PowKiddy V90.

Then I found a new one that promised some Dreamcast and PS1. This was the Anbernic 351P. I love this thing.

When I was looking at upgrading from the PowKiddy (before I found the Anbernic) there was a lot of talk about a Retroid Pocket machine that had come out and sucked ass. There were talks about a new version coming out soon but this wasn't available at the time of my looking. It has since come out.

The Retroid Pocket 2 + is the same price as my 351P and plays way more. PS1 and Dreamcast for the most part are no problem. You can even play some of them in 1080P. With some work you can get a couple Gamecube/PS2 games to work. Here's the kicker though, the Retroid Pocket 2 Plus has an HDMI out slot. Meaning you can plug it into your TV. Get a couple bluetooth controllers and you have a new console plugged in to your TV for playing your retro games. There's mentions that it can even stream Xbox Game Pass and Steam Link somewhat decently.

The RP2+ will take a good bit more setup though since it's Android based. I'll know more when it arrives in 2 weeks.

Cant remember the exact premise so bear with me.

Basically you have a rocket taking people into space. There is only a 1% chance it will explode on take off.

First take off takes 1 person. Second 2 people. Third 4 people and so on.

Despite there only being a 1% chance of it blowing up your actual chances of dying due to it blowing up are something 99.999%.

Hows it work?

I may not be understanding this problem correctly but the chance is near 100 because even if it's .000001 that something MIGHT happen, if you repeat the same thing indefinitely it will eventually happen. Meaning, if you send the same person up 1 million times, and the odds are only 1/100 the person dies you will have died a bunch of times over 1 million launches.

Honestly, I'm not so sure that teachers need to go to school for 4 years and then have classes every year or whatever the continuing education requirements are. That being said though, you need to have a certain level of proficiency. You need to be able to show that you completely understand the material you are trying to teach people.

I don't understand how veterans are better able to teach kids than some random person off of the street. There has to be some kind of control about what jobs in the military can teach what subjects in school. You a cook in the army? You have no business teaching Earth and Space science to 8th graders.

I've been wondering what out history books will say about Pence. After all of this stuff has blown over and more people realize what January 6 actually was instead of putting their head in the sand, what will the consensus be about him?

Is he a hero for doing what was right while facing IMMENSE pressure to do what was wrong? What about the fact he went along with all of Trumps BS up until that point? The man IS an evangelical and doesn't support gay marriage or other things like that. Does this one thing make up for all of that?

Or is he a villain? Do people not look past all the bad for that one moment where he did what was right? After all, it was his job and all he did was his job. What about him (or others around him) saying he didn't want to leave because if he left they never would have gotten the election process done. That the secret service wanted to put him in the car to drive him away so he wouldn't be able to do his job?

Or, plot twist: He's a villain because 50 years from now we find records that everything the Trumpers said was right and all of America was wrong? (This won't happen.)

It's complex. Just something I've been thinking about for a little while.

Of course there were tons of other people involved in all of this. I use Pence because I believe he will be seen as a central character and a point where if he did things differently our country would be DRASTICALLY different.
