another thing, tc. Have you ever heard of kevin richardson, the "lion whisperer"?. Iirc he's in south africa and he frequently frolicks with lions that he has raised since birth. He has like a ranch with a bunch of lions on it. Do you think he is playing with fire, so to speak?

Yup. Not even house cats are fully domesticated. One of those lions could get triggered one day.

My money is still on the lion. Big cats are my hobby and I've read just about every scientific literature on them.

As far as the larger tigers, maybe the margin would be much closer.

I think the leopard would be fine as there's plenty of trees in the Americas for their arboreal lifestyle along with a strong prey base.

The jaguar would not fare as well. They'd be competing against lions and such, and aren't great climbers. Also, the rivers of Africa are filled with hippos and nile crocodiles, not caiman.
