The artist of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid regularly made porn manga involving children, and that particular manga regularly incorporates those elements with intended humorous effect. The anime adaptation apparently tones this down a lot (I can only imagine how bad the manga is, in that case), but still incorporates enough of it in order to titillate its intended audience. The industry sought the author out, likely knowing full well of his proclivities, likely embracing them in fact in the end, and the anime industry chose it to receive an adaptation. One of the most prestigious and beloved animation studios, in fact, took on the task. I don't think he's ever been caught with child porn or abused a child. As far as I can tell, it's just fetish material.

This, notably, is a rather popular show among the anime crowd, and even a lot of thoughtful people have a surprising amount of tolerance for material that most people would find remarkably questionable (the sexualization of kids for the sake of audience pleasure isn't the only questionable thing in it), while obviously, less thoughtful people defend these elements when confronted with them, as being acceptable or not a big deal, and of course there are those who embrace them precisely for how pleasurable they are. The fetish material involving children in this show is essentially normalized, from all directions.

This is just one show, but I think it illustrates that whatever this issue precisely is, however prevalent, it is present throughout the industry and in the consumer base, and furthermore it's not just in Japan.

Yo, this is written by the same guy who wrote the story about the man trying to commit a double suicide with his lover before he gets they both get hit by the Isekai truck. So he spends his time getting dragged from location to location looking for her(to commit double suicide) while in a coffin on a steady diet of sleeping pills.

If it has the same humor and writing, I'm 100% onboard. The author is a really funny dude.

It's actually even more impressive than it sounds. As the war was going bad at the end 44 and early 45 they kept evacuating the camps as the fronts kept getting closer and closer to them. When they evacuated the camps they would usually do it on foot and anyone that couldn't keep up would be shot or left to die on the march. So dude probably survived 2 to 3 death marches in addition to life in the camps.
