I don't know. I think with a bit of supportive prodding, especially with shared interests, they can turn around. I've seen a number of close-minded individuals who just turn out to be eggs in denial, likely due to conservative environments. They've already got the foundation by enjoying being called both pronouns.

I'm not sure about that. I was thinking in the opposite way, that if the character hated it, the game would have pointed it out and the character was always so openminded I'd think it would be welcome.

Thus the requests for people to point it out, the person I was talking to was pretty adamant about having me pick the other one and I didn't know if the char clearly told do it.

See, that's an assumption. Basic logic is that the correct way to refer to a fictional character is how the writers and game does it and that anything else is merely an assumption and likely incorrect.

Yeah, same. If the writers wanted to the character to take both pronouns, they would've made that clear. As it is, she's only referred to with female pronouns.

The preference is she as that's what she's exclusively referred to as ingame. If the game wanted to indicate she can take any pronoun then the game would've shown that. That should be common sense and basic logic.

As funny as pretty much every scene with that character is, why would I self-insert? The characters I really like are Date, Mizuki, Aiba, Iris. Pretty much the only one I hated was Ota

Huh, so maybe this is you projecting yourself onto Mama? You should've said so earlier. That's still an assumption. The game doesn't show that and only has her being referred to as her.

I think those kinds of comments are dumb and biased (I think an adult swim or sports profile pic would be just as if not more likely) but you're not helping the stereotype with your posts. This is where self-awareness comes in.
And it's not about the rights of fictional characters, it's about what your reasoning is. Even disregarding the fact that the character is never referred to with he, why use he to begin with? Because it's your default? Since you appear to like female characters to the point of having one in your username why not use "she"?

When I am told I was false and to shut up and accept it, I prefer to question why it is so. If it is childish to enquire, I am fine being childish.
But that conversation got forcefully shut down, so it is over now.

I mean, your argument that since they're gender neutral they'd be fine being referred to as "he" is just flat out illogical. It doesn't work like that in real life, and in fiction unless they're actually shown or said to be fine with it in-universe, it's nothing but a made up assumption. It's like saying since Peach still treats Bowser somewhat civilly despite being constantly kidnapped it means she'd be fine with you telling her you want to rape her to justify you saying that.

Saying blatantly false things about a fictional game character (and using talking points of bigots to do so) is childish and obnoxious. How can you not see that? The character was never referred to as "he" by the game itself so there's no reason to use it other than because of a personal agenda. I mean, sure you have the "right" to do it because they're fictional but imagine someone insisting Mario and Luigi are into gay incest because they personally like it. Just because they're fictional doesn't mean doing it doesn't look obnoxious and stupid to others (and potentially offensive for this site). It looks like a 10 year old making up whatever they want.
