I guess In Hell We Live is one of those songs that I view wildly differently depending on the day.

I liked Runeterra when I played it, though I haven't played it for a few months and don't know what the meta is like now. It's very generous as far as digital card game economies go though.

I don't really agree with the statement that it's dumbed down Magic either. The games feel somewhat different to me and if anything I would say that Runeterra is more difficult to master. Magic does have a lot more stuff going on though, and there's also a lot more things you can do if you're the type of person who just likes to build a ton of different cool decks.

Magane and Altair were also great, yes. I loved a lot of characters from that show tbh.

Man, at some point I made a list of "top 25 shows from the 2010's" and all 3 of the last entries were on it. To be fair, both Death Parade and Re:Creators were in the 21-25 slots and would have since been taken off due to watching more shows since making the list, but still.

Re:Creators was a fun show, though I remember liking the first half much more than the second half. The magical girl character was my favorite.

When I read the premise, I hoped Death Parade would be an introspective anime about helping the recently deceased come to terms with their fate. Instead, it reveled in being meanspirited and bleak, forcing people into torturous situations for the explicit purpose of breaking them down.

For the record I think this is an incorrect characterization of Death Parade. I think it's an episodic series where the tone varies significantly from episode to episode, and how it does so is largely reflectively of the characters featured in that episode moreso than anything. Some episodes feel mean-spirited though and those do tend to be the weaker ones.

Lots of shows I watched and didn't care for. I guess I enjoyed MMO Junkie but I wouldn't really say it was great or anything.

After the Rain had some really cool technical aspects to it but the writing wasn't great and the subject matter was pretty uncomfortable.

Kaguya is great though. Sounds like you might like s2/s3 more but it's hard to say.

Xenoblade 3 fortunately fixes this issue and lets the player view the tutorial whenever they want.

Truly a groundbreaking development in game design.

I didn't actually buy anything from the Informant so it's possible I'm mistaken--they looked like Tutorials though.

XB2's tutorialization is really awkward, since they explain how to do stuff right at the start that you won't be doing until you're dozens of hours in.

Honestly I think the one thing that's legitimately irritated me about the game so far is the way they inundate you with (mandatory) tutorials at the beginning when you have little context to really understand what they're saying, and then as far as I can tell the only way in-game to ever read that tutorial text again is to buy it from an Informant.

I've been playing more Xenoblade 2, but I don't actually have much to say. The game told me to go straight to a large town, but I was having none of that and so most of what I've done has just been wandering aimlessly around the first big area the game gives you. I did get a chest guarded by a level 90 dinosaur by dropping down from a higher elevation behind all the monsters though, so take that game.

I did advance the plot a little bit. The game forced me to trade out my tsundere cat party member for a nopon and I am NOT happy about it. I pretty much hate all nopons and wish they would disappear from the series, though to give credit where it's due I kind of like Chairman Bana which is a first.

I think the game is falling a bit into the trap of having more systems than I actually want to manage, but so far it seems like I can proceed by just ignoring large chunks of it and only engaging with the things I want to engage with.

In case those read like serious complaints--they are not. They are basically jokey/nitpicky comments, and I am enjoying the game quite a bit.

I don't remember much about Sakamoto or Servant x Service but I did not particularly like either of them.

I like Kara no Kyoukai pretty well but the release order for the movies is honestly garbage and I can't fault anyone for being put off by that.

I'm aware you were put off by more than just that but I wanted an excuse to complain about it. I will say that the first movie basically put me to sleep initially also but I thought it was quite good after rewatching it when I actually knew what was going on and who the characters were.

I do think the series as a whole mistakes being vague for being interesting though.

Low-key this is one of my favorite games. Mainly for gameplay reasons, but the story is good enough also and the characters are a lot of fun. I like the edge for sure.

Finally decided to get this newfangled Xenoblade all the kids have been talking about, by which of course I mean Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Finished whatever the first part of the game is--which means either I finished chapter 1 or I finished the tutorial and am just starting chapter 1. Game started out solid but I can't really comment on much specific given that they're clearly just throwing me in the middle of a story with no idea what's going on or why. I think I like the setting of this game more than the first one, at least.

Also I'm sorry but I think I might be a Pyra simp.

2 matches I cared a lot about yesterday so of course these are the results we get.

It is impossible for me to talk about Sound Euphonium with any sense of rationality, but I stopped watching after episode 8 despite more or less liking the content up to that point, and to this day I'm convinced I made the right call.

Overall I liked Violet Evergarden a fair amount but if you asked me to rate the last 3 episodes in isolation I think would actually be a 1/10. What a terrible arc.

I've been playing Alchemy lately because that is what this month's qualifier is, and holy moly this format sucks. Even if you set aside all the baggage with the Arena economy, getting your card's nerfed, etc, the actual gameplay is also really bad. I definitely had more fun playing with/against stuff like Cauldron Familiar/Witch's Oven and Alrund's Epiphany than I did with this.

I'm pretty confident Roba would like Bofuri a lot more than these, though I only consider it to be in my "this is solid" tier so not really an urgent recommendation or anything.

The better rat song won imo but the problem is that Para Bellum was leagues ahead of every other song yesterday and most other songs in the contest.

It's good but buying into the hype is going to lead to disappointment.

Wait no fuck I actually take it back it was a different awful looking fantasy anime with Ragnarok in the title (Ragnarok the Animation). I hope you can forgive my confusion.

I think I might have mentioned this before but I actually own the DVD or Blu-ray for this series because Funimation sent me the wrong item when I ordered something else and just let me keep this (in addition to sending the correct item).

I still haven't watched it and have no plans to do so.

RPG's are still my favorite for sure.

I definitely do find it harder to sit down and get into a long JRPG like I could in high school and college. However the result is that I'm playing less games; not that I'm starting to move into different genres.

I guess I was also really into FPS's when I was younger and now am not at all.

I mean it's probably excessive to expect this for everything you haven't seen, but I appreciate it.

If you're talking about moe character designs I think you've pretty much got the right idea. That tends to not be what I think when I hear "moe anime" but it's sort of a very vaguely defined phrase in the first place which people use in a lot of different ways which I wasn't really remembering.

I guess what gets me is really the "generic" part more than the "moe" part. Flip Flappers has some of the most wildly creative visuals in any medium that I'm aware of, but maybe it doesn't really come through if you're just Google searching and getting mostly still shots of the characters.

I mean if you want to zero in on just the character designs, then yes it's probably an accurate description in that context.
